Light yes, but durability can't be determined this early in the game.
-
Why not just get a custom skate made to your specifications? That's what I did, and have even made slight changes along the way. Odds are that the skate you have now aren't the perfect fit for you.
-
I've had 3 pairs of customs. As already mentioned, the first 5 numbers remained the same and I've made some slight changes twice, which has me as of now at .2. After that I have an 8 for what I was told was toe cap size, followed by lettering for width.

Christmas 2013!
-
After wearing different iterations of the Bauer Supreme with flexible tendon guards along with the Easton Mako, the fixed/immobile tendon guard is one of my dislikes with the VH.
-
Another great Winterfest!
-
I haven't seen any. For reference that's with me skating 4 times a week for over 8 months in the Mako.
-
By all accounts the VH is a lighter MLX except for the tendon guard, which is fixed in the VH and very mobile in the MLX. The Mako is a refined MLX skate.
-
I skated using an old pair of heat molded Superfeet in mine the other night without issues. However, I did go back to the Mako innersole the next skate as they just seem to work better for me in this skate.
-
Don't agree that stiffer is better just as lightest is not always best. I've been on mine for 8 months now at least 4 times/week and there's no sign of them breaking down.
-
The Easton Synergy 1500 had a composite toe cap. Many shredded over time. Can't speak as to whether the VH toecap is similar in construction and I don't think there were ever enough MLX users for that skate to have a relevant sample size for comparison.
-
Hope it's not the SAME pair...

Nice skates!
-
Why would anyone remove the tendon guard when heat molding the skate unless you have a goalie conversion?
-
We will have to agree to disagree here. Having had TotalOne's and NXG's, I noticed greater stride extension with the improved flexibility of the NXG's tendon guard. Glad that what you have works for you.
-
What I don't like about the VH is the fixed tendon guard. While the Mako isn't the first skate to have a flexible tendon guard, they did take the flexibility to a new level.
-
Same here, but others have certainly noticed them!
-
I was getting wear in that area with my TotalOnes, which also had good flexion/extension capabilities. I'll have to keep an eye on my Makos, but at the 5-month marker these skates are not showing any excessive wear issues or concerns so far.
-
Out of curiosity are you skating tongues out or in? I skate with my shins over the tongues and with 5 months of skating 4 times a week my tongues are not showing any wear issues.
-
Yes, lifts at the front of the holder can be done.
-
What's important is going with a setup that works best for you. As for the steel, I preferred the LS3 steel over both the LS2 and Fusion. As for the Edge holder, I think it's a big improvement with the being able to swap out runners without a socket wrench.
-
Sometimes it just comes down to luck as no skate is going to be bulletproof. Case in point, broke my foot on a hard pass wearing TotalOne's, which just might be the most protective skate out there.
-
Nice wheels. I have to give the E28 a shot, although a heel curve guy for what seems an eternity now.
-
Looking at the bright side, glad it was your glasses that snapped and not your arm.

Somewhere in this 42 page topic I seem to remember someone had heated the arch area with a heat gun to resolve a arch-fit issue.
