  1. So a couple weeks ago out of nowhere I've been getting some minor rubbing/pain on just above the inner ankle bone of my right foot. It's actually not the ankle itself but almost the lowest part of my shin on the medial side. Skates are two years old and I only play once a week. Doesnt look like the boot is breaking down as it's still stiff everywhere. It's not painful but I feel it's there. Kind of disappointing. I'm going to spot heat it with a heat gun while it's laced up and see if I can get it to go away. I don't notice it all the time just through some motions like turning and when my ankle is inverted. It's definitely caused by pressure similar to why the comfort edges were created on ccm and Bauer skates. The weird thing is I've never had this issue before with these skates or any other skates for that matter. Anyone else notice random hot spots or pain that have surfaced after owning their skates for a while? I hope it's not that the padding is getting packed in etc and means I'll need to get new skates sooner than I want. If I can't get the issue to resolve with heating the area up, I'll have to resort to trying the bunga ankle sleeves and or similar gel pads. Love these skates and don't wanna go through getting new skates since these are dialed in perfectly... Well they were at least prior to this issue.
  2. This. When I played roller I always went up a flex or even two.
  3. I tried my buddy's hyperlite in fit 2 and damn... Heel lock was non existent. Mind you it wasn't baked and brand new but still. The last Bauer skate I wore was the one100 and the heel lock was great. Guess I'll pop into my local store tomorrow to try on some ccm narrow and regular fit and also fit 1 for Bauer.
  4. As mentioned it's preference. I personally like my toes feathering the toe cap when standing up, but when skating and ankle flexes forward, toes pull away.
  5. Myfear is also the lack of protection on the bottom and top of the stick from slashes skate blades and overall wear. I've had some gnarly skate cuts on my blades which only made it past the tape. If there was no tape the blade would've definitely been cut up pretty good.
  6. The wrap method makes a huge diff. Night and day. Whether you need it or not is a different story.
  7. Then you did it wrong
  8. I hate that in store stock is so terrible right now. I can't even try the skates I want. Literally have to buy a bunch online and return. Good thing PayPal offers return shipping reimbursement.
  9. Custom equipment are made to order so it's actually better for companies to make stuff as the orders come in. They don't have to worry about overstock. And they get paid the full amount up front
  10. The true shift actually should be your last option since you'd need to drill new holes for them. Id go with the ccm xs, or even the older sb 4.0. Both will pretty much lineup with the existing holes. I'm a huge fan of the tuuk ls2 holders but they are rare now and steel is rare too (although you can find some on sls still). Only issue is you'd have to drill a hole in your boot for steel changing.
  11. Trust me, if you find a skate that give you ZERO issues. Just stick with them. Chances are other skates won't fit as well or comfortable since every manufacturer uses a diff boot last for their retail boots.
  12. If the vapors fit like a glove why bother trying other skates?
  13. Are you set on the pros? The retails are always on sale now. Also the ft390 which are the model down but more or less the Same.
  14. This is my issue too. But I've never had success sizing down on those who recommend it. Maybe those ppl are in between Sizes and the pro gloves are 1/2 a size bigger which makes a big diff to them.
  15. I really like the look and fit if the ft1. Always wanted to try the pro stock version as I'm a fan of the pro palm and less gimmicky materials. Mond posting pics?
  16. It is. I need to size down. Sucks. Bauer and warrior I find have gotten bigger vs years past. Ccm I'm still a 14 though. For now. The ft1 is nice and fitted. But it does loosen up over time like all.gloves as the padding packs in a bit. You can find ft1s on clearance/sale online too. Especially in Canada
  17. Yup. Pretty much what happened. But there's too much talk about Chinese knockoff which this isn't.
  18. This looks real in that it's a real ccm stick. It's a team version and has the graphics to promote their most current line. It's not retail spec but it's not a "fake" ccm.
  19. His custom pro spec skates are probably more or less 3x pros. But with the skate shortage, the closest to his specs is probably a retail 3x pro.
  20. I've had china knockoffs from Amazon, UA, true, etc. Haven't noticed a huge difference between brands. They all feel and fit slightly diff but. Nothing crazy. I will say that UA is tighter than most brands and offers. Ore compression. I like the ones with grip for the elbow pads and shins though.
  21. I had issues with the damn toe cap killing my pinky toe in the ccm as1. I had to put a piece of Eva foam along that area to cover that ridge. It worked well but that experience made me stay away from ccm. That and I love my trues.
  22. Two donuts an hour before the game. Don't knock it until you try it. Not healthy but damn, your legs will be fire.
  23. Is this bc of stability? Seems like something more than preference bc most nhlers use oversize.
  24. Before u bake just use the powerfoot inserts do whatever works for you and feels comfortable. I made my own out of Eva foam from the dollar store which is much firmer and not like a sponge and won't pack in after a while like powertoots do.
  25. Where is your tongue positioned? If they are stock height, lower them so they fill up more dead space. Mine are about 1/2 way into the toe box and I also made my version of powerfeet shims that pretty mich eliminate any toe wiggle for me. You can use tensor wrap on the lower eyelets. This is how I baked mine.
