How did you find the fit of the ccm. It might be just me but every single ccm skate since the as1 that I've tried on had the annoying hard plastic clip where the toe cap connects to the boot digging into my pinky toe. Even with the added foam liner that have along the entire forefoot of their boots, it still hurts like hell. I'll never wear ccm bc of this. That and the new toecaps look horrible.

I'm pretty ocd but that personally wouldn't bother me unless it affected performance lol. Personally, I've never seen a holder that was mounted identical on both sides where the measurements were exact front back and sides. Are you going to return them altogether or exchange

Fyi I got the 3s pros earlier this year. Went public skating with them to feel them out. My right skates outside edge felt messed up as of my steel was uneven and the outside edge wouldn't bite. Thought it was a bad sharpening but I swapped the steel and the issue persisted. I figure the holder was mounted improperly or warped. Nothing I could see that was blatant but I didn't want to deal with getting it fixed and i had fit issues on top of it so I just returned them. Sorry that didn't help you but if you're not happy and you think it'll cause issues. Exchange them for another pair.

Welcome to the world of modern skates where stiff and "performance" is looked at over comfort for the manufacturers. U can try the other lower models as they are less stiff but really it's the materials. Just bc it's less stuff doesn't mean it'll conform and break in better. Not sure what materials the mid price point ones are but even the second from the top, in this case, 90k probably won't give you much relief if you have pressure points issues other than punching out. The good news is that ccm boots are extremely moldable. You can take a heat gun and carefully heat the area that's bothering you and use your fingers from the inside or another device to gently push the area out. Depends where the area is. If it's closer to the toecaps/ is the toecaps you might be out of luck/ will need to see if a pro shop can help you. If it's a width issue you may need to go up a fit. For me retails don't work bc whatever fit provides me a good heel lock generally is too narrow in the forefoot. So if that's the case for you too you might be out of luck/need to compromise. Have you tried to look for 70ks online? If I were you I'd try to look for some 80ks since they were closer to the 70k than any ribcore model out right now. The 80ks were on crazy clearance last year too.

I wondered this as well. I've read about the packing the toe on customs back when they first took over vh. Not sure why the even need to do that. Makes no sense unless they were trying to get rid of old shells but that's pretty bad practice. If you need to stuff the toe cap of a skate to reduce the size by more than 1/4, that defeats the purpose of a custom skate. Even in this situation where oversized holders were requested. If it isn't possible they should've just said so. There are certain skate sizes that are naturally already at the limit of the holder size. For example I'm a size 7 and a 263mm holder is pretty much as big as I would want without overhang.

I only have used the felt and will continue. Anything with plastic in it isn't comfortable to me at all

I've always gone with the felt tongue with trues. I'm not a fan of any tongue with plastic inserts. Just an fyi the true felt is very thick and plush. But it will break in pretty well. Id throw them in the oven for a few mins to soften them up at the baking temperature of the skates and put them in before you try them on. Otherwise they are very thick and take a few skates to conform. I was the same as you. Got them out of curiosity. If you still have your ft2s lying around you should put them on after about 5 skates with the trues. You'll be amazed at how the ft2s ever felt "comfortable" to you.

Good review. I was actually looking into these as I have the tf customs which I do like but was intrigued at the more flexible cat line. But I don't like how they aren't completely custom like the tf. I'm assuming the cat pro doesn't have a custom arch shape on the bottom of the skate like the tfs do? Only the outside of the shell is formed to your foot scan? Aside from that, what's custom about it? Tongue and being able to have different sizes for each skate? I know what you mean about the larger toe box and feeling a bit clumsy. Although I don't and didn't feel clumsy when I first got my tf customs I did notice some added bulk and didn't feel as quick on my feet. The comfort is second to none. And the wider toe box is part of it. All retail skates I get rubbing on my forefoot and pinky toe and this doesn't happen with trues. It's basically a compromise of comfort vs quick feet to a certain degree. Some may argue if you're always in pain and in skates you aren't comfortable in, your performance will be hindered. What skates did you have before? What issues did you have with those? My advice for people is that if you don't actually need true skates and have no issues with retails stick with retail. I have noticed that once using trues I can't go back to retail bc nothing will feel remotely as comfortable I had Bauer's before my true skates and didn't have pain issues, but once I started using trues it's like my feet became sensitized to fit issues and now I notice every little rub or discomfort and it's hard for me to accept skates feeling this way especially if you're spending 700+ on retail skates. A part of me wish I never tried trues so I have more of a selection to try from at the retail level. But another part of me also realizes how retail skates don't really fit most people properly and people just get used to the pain and adapt/form callouses etc.

The machs are definitely wider in the forefoot and toe cap than then ultrasonics. The forefoot and toe cap area was pretty tight on a fit 2 3s pro but the fit 1 mach wasn't and fit good. I ended up returning the mach bc it still have me some pinky pinching when skating. It actually felt completely fine out of box and baking and walking around. Even skating and striding it felt fine but once I started turning and crossing over, my left pinky was getting pinched. Not sure if it would've eventually subsided but I didn't want to modify or even have to deal with the pain for $1100 skates. So back in trues... Too bad Bauer doesn't offer a satisfaction guarantee or I would've stuck it out longer to see.

Where on the toecap is it hitting. The sides or the end. With trues the carbon wraps around the entire boot including the toes and are moldable/modifiable. Worst case u can punch that area slightly and it will be fine vs Bauer or ccm. The toecap material is a softer plastic like ccms toe cap where it will respond to heat. Whereas Bauer's toe caps are thick and very hard.

Not reading that entire post but from what I read. - yes skates need to be tied up for proper heel lock and even proper fit. - see if there's foam added to the end of the toecaps (almost certain there is). If so remove it and that will provide you with the added length you want. - after the skates break in a bit and the foams compress slightly it may be enough to create the added length you want.

If it's just causing rubbing and blister it'll just callous over once it's healed. I used to go through this all the time as a kid with Rollerblades lol. Let it heal then try skating again and see how it is. If it's pressing and not chaffing then that's another issue and u can get that area slightly punched out

I actually just added a piece above the old Velcro bc I push my tongue pretty far down and there's excess tab that isn't sticking to anything so that worked for me. But you can do either. I would just remove the old though so there isn't added bulk to the tongue. I used a normal needle but it was annoying bc I used adhesive Velcro and the needle got gummed up often. I don't know why they still use the shitty loop Velcro that gets frayed so fast.

All I know is that ccm and Bauer retail skates rub the outside of either my big tow or pinky where the toe cap meets the boot. It sucks bc I want to try their retails now. Been in trues for 5 years. Had Bauer before without issues. Not sure if having trues made my feet more sensitive to fit issues and lost all my callouses lol. Or the fact that the boot shapes are much diff and for something that fits my heel the forefoot is now too narrow.... I've always wore 7D in the past. And the dit 2 for the supreme 3s pro fit great except the areas I mentioned above.

Late to post but I have the retail ccm ft390 glove and a pro stock jetspeed. The fingers are essentially the same length however the internal padding seems more snug on the retail vs pro stock. Not sure why. I've tried diff models of ccm pro stock and 13s have been either way too small (short) or just right/on the verge of too short. 14s have been either perfect in length but a touch too much volume. Kinda frustrating. I guess palm material and padding material also makes a diff depending on what is used. It's also frustrating that gloves in general even at the retail level are sized diff than they used too. Seems like Bauer I have to wear 13 now whereas before I was 14. Same with warrior. Ccm is the only one where it's still somewhat consistent to years prior but they do feel 1/4" to even 1/2" larger for some models.

I just deal them and let the tongues naturally form to my foot. Tiff can also just bake the tongued itself and such them back on and lace them up for a few minutes

Move the tongue lower so it reduces toe box volume and will keep your toes flat while in the boot. This also prevents toes from lifting and curling /pulling away from the end of the toebox. When I moved my tongue down a bit it changed the fit from my toes feathering against the toebox to being pressed up right against it so I had to remove the foam liner in the toe box to create more room since I like my tongue lower.

Lower the tongue it'll keep your toes down and closer to the end of the toe cap. When they were baked/rebaked did they do the saran wrap technique? If not, that's what you need to do.

Standard is 60 or at least used to be. But honestly all companies are different now, ccm is much longer than Bauer. And yes they are also measured differently.
