  1. The guy at my LHS said right now it's a fast turnaround. He said the last svh customs they ordered was one week. And that Trues factory were all hands on deck from now until dec 23 when they shut down the factory for a week. Does true still send you an email where you can track the status of the build once your order is placed? Either way I'm in no rush and rather the skates not be rushed and come out looking sloppy.
  2. Well I just went in and got scanned for the cat pros. Well see how they turn out. A bit nervous since anything can happen. I'm coming off the first gen tf customs which I have no complaints about but wanted to try something new as it's been about 3 + years.
  3. For me it has nothing to do with the shape of the insole etc. It's the sponginess of the stock footbeds I can't stand.
  4. I don't like the stock insoles one bit. Although I haven't tried the genetix or the tf ones. The red insole combo I'm not a fan of bc it was too soft. I had superfeet in my trues and they were decent. I've stuck with speed plates bc I love them. Makes a huge difference for me but it's all preference.
  5. Ccm heats up a lot faster than Bauer's 15 year old curv composite technology. I usually heat up Bauer for five mins.
  6. Ideally overnight/24 hrs. I'm sure many people have broken this rule though. The less glue, the less issues. So I would assume true and ccm without having outsoles etc won't have as many issues if you use them same day. Bauer's outsole can be iffy as I've seen the glue on even the demo skates not bonded very well.
  7. You heat the outside and inside as the foams are thermaformable to some degree as well. And by gently I mean moving it constantly and a couple inches away and monitoring how hot the skate is getting often.
  8. Use a heat gun to gently heat the area inside and out then do the tissue technique and see if that works. If not, use the handle part of a screw driver to push the area out slightly. Don't need to rebake the entire skate as this method is more efficient.
  9. If ur vh skates still fit you great I wouldn't stray from true. Ccm and Bauer customs aren't built completely custom, at least for the retail customer level. Custom Bauer and ccm for pros are way more "custom" than for the retail customer. True is as close to custom as you'll get in terms of getting pretty much what the pros get. Ccm would be a second. Then Bauer. Im sire Bauer does more of a custom skate for pros but definitely not at the retail level. For me I've learned that nothing retail now fits me even remotely well. Trues fit me best and even though the gear whore in me wants to try other brands everytime I do, it's a rude awakening and I always go back to my trues.
  10. 100% perfect is subjective. Some people are so picky they will never be 100% happy. But I'm sure they are reasonable. In the example of packing the toe, I would expect them to actually remake the one skate to be a proper length. mind you, they might say to have the holder size the consumer wanted, it isn't possible to have a boot that small. But they also should r responsible for communicating with the consumer or retailer about these things. So ultimately it's on true to make it right. If your foot scan indicates it's not going to work with the cat shells they should say so and recommend you get the svh. Not sure if this happens but imo it should.
  11. Their 30 day policy only applies to retail. But for customs they will work with you and the retailer to fix any issues.
  12. Ya def upgrade your xs1 steel to step and keep the ccm steel as an emergency backup Let me know how you find the new setup vs your old true one
  13. If you went from the first gen true holder and step steel combo that came with it, the xs holder and step steel combo shouldn't require mich adjustment. If you sharpened the step steel that came with the true skates as is and never profiled those, just do the same with xs holders with step steel. Not sure if step kept the same profile on their stock steel now as they did back then but if they have just get the xs hokders put on and add step steel, sharpen and off u go. Take it for a spin during a public skate and see how it feels. Shouldn't be that much of an adjustment. I went from Bauer to true with their true holders and step steel and didn't feel like there was much difference in the holders. I went from the true holders to the ccm sb 4.0 holders and didn't notice really any difference either. So I think you're fine with just getting the xs holder put on along with step steel. Step steel is still one of the best in the game. The only reason I'd recommend looking into anything different is if you wanted to try flare or bladetech steel which have different "performance" technology, but if you want something to simply replicate what you have now but just new holders, get what I suggested above Sidelineswap may also have the holders you're looking for in good condition as well. What size holders do you need? Just quickly browsing, I saw 3+ listing for those holders for sale. I would even check out your local shop that sells true skates as they may have old inventory. https://unitedsport.ca/products/shop-true-senior-original-player-holder-edmonton-canada?variant=39526018482307
  14. Do you pull the insoles out after every skates? If not you should, the rivets are already starting to rust and they're pretty new
  15. I still noticed it with the asv pro but it could just be my feet. Ever since I got trues my feet have been really sensitized with any type of rubbing or hard spots.
  16. I actually like the Howie's pro and cut resistant socks. I don't like socks super thin. Also have had good experience with the Bauer cut resistant socks too. The Howie's is more comfy and softer vs the Bauer which can feel a bit rough but that texture provides pretty good grip when inside the skate, especially since my skate liners are clarino.
  17. Hmm that does suck. I know u pronate with my right and my tongue does shift a bit to the outside. But nothing major to the point where the tongue isnt providing cushioning from the laces or eyelets. I do use the felt tongue though which may be thicker and even wider. I also use speed plates as insoles which is hard and maintains the arch of my foot and not let it collapse when there's weight on it.
  18. How did you find the fit of the ccm. It might be just me but every single ccm skate since the as1 that I've tried on had the annoying hard plastic clip where the toe cap connects to the boot digging into my pinky toe. Even with the added foam liner that have along the entire forefoot of their boots, it still hurts like hell. I'll never wear ccm bc of this. That and the new toecaps look horrible.
  19. I'm pretty ocd but that personally wouldn't bother me unless it affected performance lol. Personally, I've never seen a holder that was mounted identical on both sides where the measurements were exact front back and sides. Are you going to return them altogether or exchange
  20. Fyi I got the 3s pros earlier this year. Went public skating with them to feel them out. My right skates outside edge felt messed up as of my steel was uneven and the outside edge wouldn't bite. Thought it was a bad sharpening but I swapped the steel and the issue persisted. I figure the holder was mounted improperly or warped. Nothing I could see that was blatant but I didn't want to deal with getting it fixed and i had fit issues on top of it so I just returned them. Sorry that didn't help you but if you're not happy and you think it'll cause issues. Exchange them for another pair.
  21. They're discontinuing it. Only going to be tacks and jetspeed. Here's what I found but Canadian https://evolutionsportsexcellence.com/products/maxx-pro-ribcor-skates-sec-sr?variant=37240791204036&currency=CAD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gclid=Cj0KCQiAm5ycBhCXARIsAPldzoWotM85Gtrgd0EjRinHdpJigP01rwO6-pVNKtuHVnPT1SJJAOSqU0AaAuPCEALw_wcB
  22. Welcome to the world of modern skates where stiff and "performance" is looked at over comfort for the manufacturers. U can try the other lower models as they are less stiff but really it's the materials. Just bc it's less stuff doesn't mean it'll conform and break in better. Not sure what materials the mid price point ones are but even the second from the top, in this case, 90k probably won't give you much relief if you have pressure points issues other than punching out. The good news is that ccm boots are extremely moldable. You can take a heat gun and carefully heat the area that's bothering you and use your fingers from the inside or another device to gently push the area out. Depends where the area is. If it's closer to the toecaps/ is the toecaps you might be out of luck/ will need to see if a pro shop can help you. If it's a width issue you may need to go up a fit. For me retails don't work bc whatever fit provides me a good heel lock generally is too narrow in the forefoot. So if that's the case for you too you might be out of luck/need to compromise. Have you tried to look for 70ks online? If I were you I'd try to look for some 80ks since they were closer to the 70k than any ribcore model out right now. The 80ks were on crazy clearance last year too.
  23. I wondered this as well. I've read about the packing the toe on customs back when they first took over vh. Not sure why the even need to do that. Makes no sense unless they were trying to get rid of old shells but that's pretty bad practice. If you need to stuff the toe cap of a skate to reduce the size by more than 1/4, that defeats the purpose of a custom skate. Even in this situation where oversized holders were requested. If it isn't possible they should've just said so. There are certain skate sizes that are naturally already at the limit of the holder size. For example I'm a size 7 and a 263mm holder is pretty much as big as I would want without overhang.
  24. I only have used the felt and will continue. Anything with plastic in it isn't comfortable to me at all
  25. It's possible.
