  1. Its normal for the foams to compress a bit esp with the true bc the padding around the ankles is noticeably more than other skates. Also the tongue will also compress as well. It's always a good idea to do another rebake after the first couple mths using new skates to really dial them in. My last rebake was my third rebake. Used the shrink wrap method and really wrapped the hell out of them. Been a couple mths and no issues since. First bake was conventional bake and tie laces at 80%. Second was shrink wrap but I only went around like five times so didn't really maximize the wrap.
  2. Never had issues with Bauer steel struggling to get into tuuks. If anything it's step that's always made me sweat getting steel in and out. Esp on the ls2 holders. Anyways, maybe remove and put the steel on the freezer for a bit then try to reinstall. This way you're not trying to expand the hokder but shrink the steel. Just enough for it to fit in smoothly. It's weird though I've never seen a holder bend like that. When I read your post, at first I thought it was mounted improperly and was bowing.
  3. I picked up five sher wood rekker ek365 for an avg if 120 cdn each. Honestly best stick I've used and I've used alot. And for that price too. Had to stock up
  4. Shot blockers. https://www.askjatech.com/
  5. Price isn't that bad either considering it's all laser cut to your skate model
  6. Found it. https://www.askjatech.com/
  7. Aren't pro stock Bauer steel different than retail? I've seen some on eBay that say made in Canada....
  8. Last pic. Looks like formed carbon shot blockers?
  9. U COULD but not sure if it's recommended. Others can chime in on whether it would be an issue since realistically it's the proper size for each foot. But in my head it seems like it would feel pretty off. A compromise might be to go with a holder one size up on the smaller snd one size down on the larger??
  10. I used to think this but I had my buddy measure his 1x and the height is the same. The top eyelet is at the same height too. Trues skates above size 8, all have 10 eyelets vs 9 eyelets for sizes under 8. True just has larger spaces between eyelets vs Bauer. Probably bc of their toecap design too. The as1 is definitely taller because thats what they actually advertised. A taller boot vs their super tacks predecessor. Never got to measure my as1 though. As1 does have an extra eyelet vs True and Bauer as well.
  11. Dri fit is good as they wick a lot of sweat but the downside is that the sweat then gets trapped between the sock and the skate liner, and depending on the liner and type of insole it can cause some slipping. The worst combo for me was the true cut resistant socks and clarino liners. Try wearing cotton socks, they actually work quite well to reduce slippage or any type of movement caused by excess sweat/moisture. Also some dri fit materials are so soft they are like silk. This may feel super comfy but also isn't very good for gripping the skates liner.
  12. Which tacks? As1 super tacks? The as1s has a higher boot construction which will cause better lateral stability but will def reduce forward flexion. My as1s also have me bad hot spots and pinching and lace bite. The most painful skate I've broken had to break in.
  13. This. They are very stiff in hand. More than Bauer and CCM, however they don't feel that stiff at all when skating. My as1s felt way stiffer when skating than my trues.
  14. Whats the diff in holder sizes for the two sizes. Even if the boots fit I wonder if the smaller boot would be able to take on the larger holder. Don't think you want to put the smaller holder on the larger boot. That would be my only concern.
  15. Probably bc CCM steel is noticeably crappier than any other steel on the market.
  16. Return it. Oland if you want to get yet another replacement, get shot blockers.
  17. https://sgbonline.com/bauer-hockey-reaches-settlement-in-skate-steel-lawsuit/ Interested as to why other brands like Tydan, Massive blade, Bionic etc weren't sued. I have a feeling that Step will eventually start reselling down the road when an agreement is made with Bauer regarding royalties, but if not, Bauer is gonna take a hit in sales bc CCM has upped their game. I doubt Step will completely stop selling ever due to the fact they were granted some leeway to deplete stocks
  18. Bauer shot themselves in the foot with this. Esp with other quick release systems out there, and CCM really taking over the last couple years.
  19. Anyone know what the difference in the height of Trues vs say bauer or CCM from the base of the outsole to either the comfort edge or the the centre of the top eyelet? Just curious how much lower the Trues are.
  20. Kuchs skates look like they have so much volume.. too much volume for him. But that's just by looking at them.
  21. Just saw this now even though it was released in May.
  22. The parts of the true skates that are thermoformable aren't completely carbon. The areas that are (heel lower part of the boot/sole) went very thermoformable and require clamps and spot heating (higher heat than baking) to manipulate. Also, blades take a lot of beating, something that a thermoformable material may not be able to withstand while keeping overall weight down.
  23. Not sure about how the base blades are now but when I used base when they first came out they blades lasted forever. Never has one break on me for ice hockey. Only time it got soft etc was during roller hockey which is inevitable.
  24. I personally like the speed plates. They are Bauer yes. I have them in my true skates. Had them in my as1s too. I won't go back to any other insoles. I just love how custom they are and that they are remouldable over and over again.
