New Supreme? -> Bauer ONE90

Recommended Posts

you want to get faster??? wear skate weights during practice... take them off for games and your feet will fly, and your legs will be stronger.

Speaking of skate weights, anyone know of any good ones out there?

Too bad the majority of the people buying skates are only concerned about weight...If fit was truly the number 1 factor in buying skates, we would be a lot bigger player in Ice Hockey skates....

I will give props to Bauer, I do like the look of the one90...

I think one of the things to consider about skate prices the past 10 years is that a CCM 752 in '96 wholesaled at $250-280 and sold for $280-300...there was no margin on skates, it just gave you cashflow so the cost of top of the line skates haven't really changed but dealers, and rightfully so, are finally making$ on those sales...grazie NBH...

I skated in 2000's for a long time, but when I made the move to the 7000's I liked many of the features..although I don't know if I'm a One90 guy as I've not seen it up front...there are times I like new tech etc..and times I'll hop on the pond on my old Mega 1090's and be happy..but they also have the support of a slipper as did the old 301' (Daoust)..fwiw i've gotten 4-5 good years out of my 7000's..2 sets of steel...

just like we grew up on old school tacks and supremes...a lot of kids today are starting with Vapor's, Vector's, S500's etc..and that's all they know....

dont they look similar just different colour

That little weave thingie along the bottom is also similar. I wonder why NBH chose to use that on the skate.

How did cooke get the skates? Weren't only "exclusive" players supossed to get them? Or was nasuland supossed to get them, and the bauer rep happened to be there?

He might be a "Bauer Guy" this season (probably not in the same category as St Louis, Hossa, etc.) but this season he ditched the Eagle gloves (which is almost mandatory if you are a Canuck :D ) for Bauer Vapor XXX gloves and the CCM Vector, Mission and TPS sticks are gone in favor of the black and yellow Vapor XX OPS.

There was an article in today's province regarding Cooke and the new 190 (as they put it).

It talked about how he now has happy feet, wearing a skate only about 10 others in the nhl have. They stated that they're not available to the public, absurdly light, and practically contoured to the exact shape of ones foot.

they're listed to hit public shelves by november - so 2 days?

lol

is it just me or does the skate look almost shrink wrapped to his foot? it's as if the boot is just a layer on his foot, not really a "boot" anymore

That's what they have been telling me...no negative space between the foot and the boot.

I can just see all the 13 year olds that are going to grow out of them in a month and a half.

there was no picture, just the article:

Matt Cooke has happy feet now.

The Vancouver Canucks scrappy winger has finally found skates that are comfortable for him.

For the past couple of weeks he's been wearing a new Bauer set that hasn't even hit the market yet, and maybe only 10 other players across the league have them.

The skates, which Cooke listed as Bauer Supreme 190s, are more contoured than ever. The back looks like the cast of an actual heel, rather than just a random boot.

"It's a lot different than anything I've worn before," he said. "It's like an extension of your foot, I guess.

"For me, I was having a lot of trouble with my feet before. When you're having trouble with your skates, you're trying to find any answer to keep your feet from hurting. They [the Bauer representatives that regularly visit NHL teams] had these and I put them on and they felt nice."

An added plus is that the skates are absurdly light. They weigh half as much as the skates Cooke wore before.

"Technology has made skates lighter and lighter and lighter," he said.

Cooke has heard that the skates might be available to the general public some time in November.

Thanks for the article really appreciate it. Do the guys in the busines know or think how the shrink wrap effect will work or is it basically a heat molding process with a specially designed boot?
