Tacki-Mac Command Grip

Recommended Posts

I used the Command Texture grips for about a month and a half. Did the hairspray thing. I thought they were alright, one slid off as I did a wrist shot and that was it. They are a little on the bulky side, but I got used to it. Back to using tape now but might return to the them in the future. We'll see.

Patrick Kane one is awesome, it is the exact one they make for him. Very thin works great.

Does anyone know if the Kane grip is as thin as or thinner than the sand texture? Thanks

I have tried the Sand, Wrapped and the Kane grips and both the Kane and Wrapped seem thinner the the Sand.

hope this helps

The Tacki-Mac tears through gloves faster?!? That would be going against the experience of pretty much everyone that's commented on them, and in fact is counter to the reason many of us use them in the first place. I find my palms last near forever with Tacki-Macs, much longer than they ever did with tape. Can you please elaborate or back up that statement?

Yeah, my palms are spotless...

I go through a grip about every 2-months though. I use the supplied adhesive tape and apply with a little soap and water. I also use the standard "Wrapped" grip but cut the entire knob off.

I wear through the grip almost down towards the bottom where it starts to get thinner and thinner as it tapers. Not many others have this problem, so I think it is just the way I hold the stick...

Small price to pay. $5 every 2 months is a great investment for not having smelly crusty palms.

I think wrapped is thinner than sand.

I get the wrapped and cut the butt to 1/8"

Not sure if I'm opening a can of worms here but when I bought my first two wrapped (which are very thin) I asked if they (Tacki-Mac direct) could cut them for me and they did it at no extra cost.

Saw this claim on an e-bay post selling a Kane grip :

"Players using Tacki Mac Grips and Attack pads.

Hanu Toivenen, Serge and Andre Kostytsin, Mark Streit, Oleg Saprykin, Shane Doane,Sidney Crosby, Jeff Carter, Mike Cammaleri, Dan Cleary, Rick DiPietro, Ryan Getzlaf, Sergei Gonchar, Martin Havlat, Dany Heatley, Tomas Holstrom, Marion Hossa, Mike Knuble, Saku Koivu, Ilya Kovalchuk, Alex Kovalev, Mario Lemieux, Wayne Gretzky, Joni Pitkanen, Brad Richards, Mike Richards, Mathieu Schneider, Jason Spezza, Keith Tkatchuk, Alexei Yashin "

I doubt its accuracy since I have two actual Sergei Kostitsyn pro-stocks and then had gauze tape on them. Also there are players on this list who are retired. Either way, anyone know how many pros actually use these?

Did anyone else notice that the Kane grip is no longer on Tacki-Mac's site?

Yea, I looked last week and it wasn't there. I just ordered one on eBay when buying some gauze. Might have to call Tackimac and see what's up.

Contract with Kane was over at the end of December so they had to take down his information. Simply call them 800-334-7477....

Anyone have these color or tear up their top hand palm? I picked up a black one last week (wrapped big butt version) and also got a new pair of bauer 4-rolls (standard clarino palm), after a couple of hours in the garage it definitely looks to be turning my top palm black and pilling. I'm not that worried about coloring... but I don't want to eat through the palm quickly. I'm thinking of going with a white standard wrapped version instead of the big butt.

I just got my Warrior's with yellow mustang a few weeks ago and can say that the black Tacki-Mac's are leaving some color on my palm. No wear or anything - just color.

I had PPF's with MSH2 before and never had a problem with the dye coloring those palms. Before my PPF's I used CCM's which had a black overlay anyway, so I could not tell...

I'm gonna give a Kane grip a shot. Question for righty's: a website says it was made for right handers and the direction of the rib goes perfect with a players left hand. Yet Kane is a southpaw. Is that correct or opposite? Any right handers use this with no complaints?

hey guys, sorry to rehash an old topic...

i need some help.

i have a stick that I put a tacki mac grip with the glue paper that comes with the grip. how do i remove this from my stick without damaging it? run it underhot water and start trying to pull it away?

I just wanted to cut the stick down another inch or so as I have started using shorter sticks lately.

Thanks for all your help in advance.
