It happens occasionally, so it doesn't surprise me, but it's just so maddening because it's always a third party reporting it, and the dude or dudes are always gone before you can catch them.  If we did catch them, they'd have their membership cancelled and we'd have grounds to call the cops.  I suppose in some places there's a tacit agreement that the bath house is a place for illicit sexual acts, but like, why gotta do this to an ordinary, run of the mill fitness club?  Take your pervy self and go find a rest area or some bushes or something.  Or go home.

It seems like similar reasoning to why high school kids smoke in the bathrooms. They're good enough to never get caught, and it's an agreed upon place to get high. It's also why all the bathrooms at my school are unusable, you can't go in them without someone offering you drugs or smoking. The buses are worse. I should also mention that I do not partake at all, nor have I ever.

"or dudes"? I'm not trying to be homophobic, but unless the two or more dudes in question are well acquainted, seems really uncomfortable.

I was confused when you said smoking... thinking "WTF it's 2017..." but then you mentioned the "getting high" part. Is that what kids are by default referring to as "smoking" these days? I'm clearly getting old. Get off my lawn.

It's electronic stuff. But again, I don't really know.

Sometimes folks use a gym as a cruising spot hoping somebody is "up" for a good time (so to speak), or have a prior agreement (via say, craigslist or grindr or tinder) to meet someone for illicit sex.  I've heard of opposite-sex couples happening before, but just not as often as same-sex.

Regardless of the equipment involved, it is a vastly inappropriate use of the facilities.

Forced password changes. No more secure (in fact, they're often less secure), but annoying as hell.

Last week I passed the "I've changed my work password 100 times" threshold.

I always imagine it as gender segregated. And yes, yes it is.

So last summer I had to get a cyst/calcium buildup removed, a bursa sack had formed around it and everything and it was right against my spine on my lower back. The surgeon informed me that it was a relatively common spot for athletes due to contact and falls and the abuse on my tailbone after having played AAA level up to junior for pretty much the entirety of my minor hockey.

Skip forward, and the cut from the procedure still hasn't closed properly, and every time I talk to a doctor they tell me its just draining and to wait it out. A month ago I talked to a specialist and after examining it, he believes that they didn't remove everything, so he told me to keep an eye on it. Low and behold about 5 days ago, something pops or rips and now I have a fresh open wound inches from where the last incision was made.

Unbelievably frustrating to say the least. And living in a new city for grad school and not having a doctor here, emergency rooms and walk in clinics are my only option so for the most part I haven't been able to see anybody to get it looked at properly.

Statistically the biggest increase in teen drug use is from 11th to 12th grade.  Hopefully you make it.  Despite what the press and pro pot advocates say, other than legitimate medical marijuana use, its a dangerous road for many and not, IMHO, worth the risk.  Lots of experience here both personal, parental and professional.

Completely agree. I hope so too, but it's everywhere here. Locker rooms (guys were vaping right before hockey tryouts), buses, bathrooms, just all over the place.

I wish the school would do more, however they may not be able to.

Hard to catch and prove.

That's what I figured. It's really frustrating, considering kids can leave e-cigarette cartridges in the bathrooms and not get caught.

Yes, stay away from illegal drug use.

That said, this sounds like 25 years ago, green and alcohol.  Not new or IMO, something to worry much about.  Coaches know who's drinking and smoking, if they don't, they're probably para-professional, not at the school and don't listen.  Keep saying no, it helps your young brain.

^^^Just to qualify, I deal with individuals that use drugs on a regular basis. That has resulted in their involvement in the criminal justice system at a felonious level.

At last week's pick up one of the guys fell into the boards head first. I was on the bench when it happened, didn't see it that well. The others went to see if he's ok and after a moment they yelled for someone to call an ambulance and started performing CPR. Ambulance came fast, the crew started treating him and after a while they took him to the hospital.

A couple of days later I heard he was still on life support with a severe neck injury.

Then came a message that they had woken him from the narcosis and told him that he had suffered a broken C2 and severed spinal cord resulting in quadriplegia and he probably had days, maybe weeks left.

He passed yesterday.

That's awful, I'm sorry to hear that.  :(
