Bauer Supreme TotalONE

You could always try and go custom grafs? Just a suggestion. th6252 made a great summary of the 4.0 pros. They are definitely a lot stiffer and a way better tongue then regular flexlite 4.0.

What are the S9s and what kind of hook up is necessary?

S9's are a pro skate from Bauer. They have the design characteristics of old model Bauer skates such as 8090's or 7000's, but with a full slate of custom options. They can come with any sole from like the last 20yrs and any tongue and whatever else. They are made out of these older materials, but made to look like Bauer's latest supreme skate.

I guess you need to know someone who can order them from Bauer, but Bauer generally only makes them for NHL, AHL, NCAA D1. They are on ebay all the time, but you have to be careful buying someone else's custom skates as they can have unique fit characteristics.

back on topic...

now that most stores got the samples of new skates I have finally had a chance to look @ TotalOne in person & compare it with One100

well - in all fairness I've expected the weight difference to be a bit more noticeable? don't get me wrong - it's definetly there, but not something to 'wow' about? (I still have an old beat up S15 at home & it feels lighter)

the liner feels nice though - reminds me of a liner in S15 a bit - has distinct cloth feel to it & should provide more traction for sure...

my bigest surprise came from a tongue - it had a mid insetrt in it, but felt like nothing (no wonder they didn't workout for JR) & was bending like paper (especially comparing with the orig tongue of One95 that took me weeks to break in)? I felt no rebound what so ever? Is it because the demo skates have some fake inserts in there or what?

I wish I could try these babies on ice to feel whether the difference is truly worth the $ :(

You have to have them on your feet to notice it. Same with the weight.

somehow I though I'd say that... How's the final chapter of the review saga coming along BTW? ;)

Same with me.

I am very impressed. I held them next to the one95's and found a noticable difference in weight. Not major, but noticable.

I am trying to find some one100's but haven't had the opportunity yet.

Can't wait to get mine in. They tried like hell to talk me out of having them get ICMs put in, which was likened to "dating a supermodel with one tit."

I'm with you there, Mack. I'm so tired of having a skate that is killing one foot or the other length wise, I can't wait to have a skate that is properly fitted length wise to BOTH feet.

I'd be willing to bet, if polled that at least 90% of the people here would say even the best, most expensive, high end, state of the art gear will only have a marginal impact on their games. We spend the money because we WANT the advantage, however slight, or, for a lot of us, because we really like breaking in skates, using fresh gear, and being ahead of the curve gear wise. Theres not a man or woman here who thinks the TotalOnes will be the ticket to the next level, or levels, of hockey. I'm not going to drop a grand on custom TotalOnes, pull them on, feel blue sparks flow through my body and all of a sudden skate, shoot, and stickhandle like Jean Beliveau. And no one else here thinks they will either. They just LIKE GEAR! And if they want $800 skates, thinking it will let them skate blueline to blueline in .2 seconds less than before, or maybe they just feel better in them, what's wrong with that?

You hit it right on the nail. I used to think that there wouldn't be much difference in fit/performance between say a One55 and a One95. What's a couple hundred grams less here and there right? As a player, I've always used price point gear on almost anything except skates who were mid point, at least for the past 10 years or so. I happened to stumble upon a pretty decent deal lately for One95 and gave them a try. The difference between the fit of my Graf 625 player skates, my One55 goalie skates and the One95s was night and day. If you can afford the skates, IMO it's a great buy not matter what level you are at. I actually used to think that way before, thinking that I wouldn't need and shouldn't buy high end gear because I didn't really have the talent to go with such gear. It all changed when I tried those skates on.

Did it make me any better? It actually has to an extent. the comfort level itself was a big plus which enabled me to skate to the best of my abilities without feeling any pain. The skate itself made for better performance too because of how it's built and all which resulted in giving me more confidence in myself which translated in my play too. Now I know that there is no turning back and that whenever I go through my pair of One95s I'll have to buy another pair of high level skate. My feet will not let me cheap out on skates ever again.

It always seems that the closer I get to getting a new pair of skates the more problems I find with my current pair lol. They were bugging me a bit while reffing this weekend and all I could think about was getting a nice new pair of totalones on my feet.

Someone at pickup had some TOs on today. He didnt go into detail, but they were a pro stock set that he got out of Canada somewhere. He had the stiff inserts in, but it did not have Fusion steel in it.

Of course, everyone noticed that gold immediately and he got a rash of shit all day long for being the first on the block with the skates. He's a good average player for the group that normally comes out, so every time he skated past someone or outskated someone to a puck or whatever, he got the chirping that it was due to the new wheels or that we can see the massive acceleration, etc. :D It was a good time.

I remember that happened when the one90s dropped, a pro shop worker had them and the entire time guys were giving him shit about his "super skates" and his "magic skates" and saying if you stared at the holders cross-eyed you would see the future.

That's hilarious! Come out here to CA and no one has any idea what anything is. I could wear a brand new pro stock pair of gloves or skates and no one is the wiser. My only problem is that they do notice the constantly rotating gloves :)

It's a real shame I'm going to miss dropping $850 on the TO. I'm extremely happy I have a pair of one95s in great shape and one75's that are brand new right now. Jeez, cmon on the prices guys, maybe just a little...

Still only 2/3 the price of elite figure boots and steel blades!

Yeah, but they get way more that 2 seasons out of those boots unless they outgrow them. I dated figure skaters all my life.... the custom high end figure boots were nearly a grand 20 years ago..... My wife was a figure skater, my older daughter is one, and my younger daughter is taking up hockey.... Think about buying a pair of figures a year 'cuz she's still growing, putting high end custom hockey boots on my feet, and pretty soon I'll have the rotating skates on the younger daughter too.... :(

The figure skaters in our rink get less than 9 months out of top end Graf, Riedell, Jackson, Harlick, and SP Teri boots. When they are on the ice 4-5 hours a day, 5 days a week, and jumping triples the leather boot breaks down from the constant landing impact of jumps. Elite figure boots do not last as long as top end hockey skates. And their skates weigh 7 lbs with the steel shanks to keep them from breaking their feet on all those landings.

My daughter is a competitive figure skater....The best thing about it, is it makes everything in hockey seem like a bargain... :o
