Lefty/Righty Shooters. USA/Canada

Recommended Posts

American born. Right hand dominate but very capable left handed.

Hockey: RH

Goalie: Standard(LH)

Write: R

Baseball: S

Throw(baseball or football): R or L... and I can throw a baseball with my right foot

In hockey I can shoot LH or RH but I'm MUCH better puckhandling RH. I can do much better puckhandling with just my left hand than I can with a LH stick.

PA born. Right handed.

Shoot: left

Write: right

Bat: switch

Golf: right

Throw: right

Didn't start til mid 20's but always remember that shooting left felt more comfortable in elementary gym class floor hockey.

Canadian born; play hockey left handed (as God had intended), play golf right handed (again, as God had intended) and I'm ambidextrous in baseball but I have more power throwing right handed and batting left handed. I began writing left handed but converted to right hand in grade 2.

That actually is something I want to try.

I am curious to see if I putt better LH.

I have a LH putter. I do just fine with short to medium putts, either way. Long ones I have to go RH.

Those that come to the game later in life and put their dominant hand lower on the stick may lose some stickhandling but will generally gain in shot power.

I've noticed that to be very true as well. I also kind of think RH people who shoot LH will tend to have better slap shots, but worse wrist and snap shots, not sure why that is.

That's completely opposite of logical sense.

Yeah, I know, but it's a phenomenon I have taken notice of. I'm thinking that a lot of RH people use their left arm to carry items, such as a chainsaw or trombone, allowing the right hand to be the "fine motor control" hand but building strength in the left shoulder. I dono, just a theory but ya know <_<

Left eye dominant (I hunt/shoot sporting clays a lot) and your dominant eye in theory should dictate which shoulder you mount the gun on.

Born in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Lived all up and down the east coast and Germany.

Right handed everything.

Snapped my ulna and radius in half on my right (dominant) arm and shattered my wrist in sophomore year in high school (2002) and taught myself to do a lot of things left handed. My range of motion in my right hand and wrist is limited, no way I could play with it as top hand, but it works well as bottom hand.
