Lots of players at the end of their career do usually

Nothing really to do with career length. Some guys just want to use what they want to use. Look at Ryan Callahan.

Hossa during his Ottowa, Atlanta, Pittsburgh and Detroit days was using a bunch of different brands, but once he got to Chicago he went to all CCM.

until he feels he needs a little something extra and then he sends the EQM into the lockerroom to get his Warrior gloves.....

So Bauer released this yesterday:

Bauer Hockey

Proud to say we're once again the brand of choice in the Stanley Cup Finals!

So Warrior fired back with this..

Warrior Hockey

Our Stats Specialist Cassie just told us that today is a BIG day for numbers in hockey…..and we’ve got some of our own to share.

A Warrior Players Club athlete leads the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs in all of the following statistical categories:

GOALS, ASSISTS, POINTS, PP GOALS, SH GOALS, GAME WINNING GOALS, OVERTIME GOALS, GAA, SAVE %, GOALIE WINS, and SHUTOUTS

When it’s all on the line, Warrior guys DOMINATE.

Interesting..

As far as Warrior's Goalie Stats are concerned, Quick (the holder of the stats) only uses Warrior's stick he wears Vaughn goal pads. As for the player stats, I can't comment but if they use the same reasoning as they did for goalie, if any of the players has just 1 piece of gear, they are in that stat so it sounds like a lot of room for brand overlap.

In all, I tend to take stats in sports like those above with a grain of salt

Warrior's claim might sound impressive, make you think that a bunch of Warrior guys are dominating the playoffs, well, until you realized that Kovalchuk leads in goals, assist, points, and powerplay goals and Quick runs the table on the goalie stats. So you have 2 guys leading in 8 categories and maybe a couple others with shares of the lead in other categories.

This is 100% true. However, as a marketing standpoint that the masses will see it's great. Just a quick and easy "Here is what the most dominating players in the playoffs are using" type thing.

Look at Kopitar, he's part of the Warrior "Players Club" but the only thing Warrior he uses is a stick and pant shell, every other piece of visible equipment he uses is Bauer.

I think the ''Players Club'' are players who are compensated for their use of specific Warrior gear. Johnathan Quick included. So its all in the wording..

I'm mostly impressed with Cassie the "stats babe" at that link.

Indeed. I wasn't going to post that because I know some guys view this from work.

It seems warrior is trying to capitalize on the outliers of the statistics, to sway them in their favor. Like saying, "Hey, sure your guys make up 46% of the glove population, but our 14% are better players. " Which, in reality, is great for marketing, in this case I think the bigger impact comes from the amount of players wearing the companies gear, not the quality of said players.

Everyone is trying to use stats to sway the buying public, it's called marketing. They all spin the numbers/reality to best suit their goals. If the numbers were more skewed to RBK or Easton, they would have put out the info. This stuff is put out every year by the company(s) that is (are) at the top of any particular category.

Chadd's got it.

And you best believe that whatever stick is used to score the Stanley Cup-winning goal is going to be marketed...

I don't doubt the greater message on marketing, however I must have missed Reebok touting Patrice Bergeron's 11K last season. I do however remember Easton's claims about the RS usage in last year's playoffs.

Easton used to do it year in and year out. I even remember in 1994, Louisville had a commemorative stick denoting Messier scoring the GWG with it.

Wasn't Bergeron on the front page of reebokhockey.com? Let's see what happens this year.

The answer is on Page 91.

Zajac had been using ones with his own name on it, so unless those Stamkos sticks are back-ups to back-ups, I thought they'd be off the bench by now.
