2014 CCM Tacks Skates

Recommended Posts

Josh is right, CCM gave dealers a great infographic package detailing the different fit styles of their 3 skate line. It seems that more samples are needed to get a general rule of thumb in comparing Bauer fits, if there even could exist one.

Thanks for the clarification. I would assume that info won't be released to the public until the Tack skate is.

I wear a 6 in Reebok and tried a 6 in the Tacks. Length seemed pretty spot on.

How was the width compared to the Reeboks? I've tried 20ks before and the length in a 6D was fine for me but it felt a bit tight on the width of the toe cap. I'm considering ordering a pair of tacks in 6 but still trying to figure out whether I'd be a D or ee.

In a surprising turn of events, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports that CCM hockey and the police are looking for 2,000 pairs of Tacks that went "Missing" in transit from Vancouver to Montreal.

So if a guy who looks suspiciously like Vin Diesel tries to sell you a pair of skates out the back of his Honda Civic with green neon lights underneath, think twice about purchasing them.

That has to be a really significant chunk of their skate product for the year.

2000 pairs of CCM Tacks would pull a premium one month before Summer Jam...

Apparently they aren't the "Tacks" skate, but mid line and upper mid SMU for Source for Sports.

Regardless, what the hell would you do with that many skates? I mean I guess your organization would be set for a couple years, but there's no way anyone could get away with that. If you melt them down and scrap the steel you wouldn't make that much - dumb heist all around.

and since it is a new model, you can't blow them out on ebay a couple pair at a time as old stock

Maybe I missed an updated report but from what I saw they said they went missing somewhere between Vancouver and Montreal. Thats the best they can do? Narrow it down to a 3,000 mile stretch?

I'm assuming someone switched trailers on them and they don't know precisely where they got switched at. Its not that hard to believe they don't know exactly where they are at - we've had packages lost before and we couldn't tell you where in the world they are. There aren't trackers on these things...yet!

Or, the driver pulled over to sleep and someone looted the truck while he was asleep.

So we're just about 2-weeks away from the official launch of the 'new' Tacks yet we've heard so little on the tech side from CCM. Either they have no confidence that the technology behind the skate competes with Bauer or they're banking on the Tacks name to sell the skate, or maybe both!

Or they're thinking that they are building the anticipation, waiting until the last minute to inundate everyone with a blast of marketing immediately prior to the launch.

Not sure how much I am allowed to say, but I have skated on them. They are very stiff, and very moldable. Definitely a great skate.

Could very well be the case. However, they've already lost considerable ground with their July release date. The MX3 was released in April, yet we started getting good info on the skate in January. Playing catch up is not necessarily a good thing in a over saturated market.

Josh V, what is the fit like on these skates?

Are they narrow like a Vapor?

Can you give a quick breakdown of the forefoot width, heel, depth, etc?

They're similar to Vapors but more volume, wider heel and wider forefront. All marginally more though, not by much.

I got my pair in a couple weeks ago, it hurt to do anything with them so I didn't skate on them. Baking didn't help enough.

The Nexus line is what fits my foot.
