Thin sock suggestions/advice

Recommended Posts

I've worn normal skate socks forever, for the last couple years the easton compression ones. I hate socks, as I don't like any added thickness or cushion, but I also never had truly perfect fitting skates, so it didn't so much matter.

This week I bought Easton Mako skates, so the fit is beautiful, and very close. I actually want to use them barefoot... however, I am quite bothered by the clammy feel between the bottom of my foot and the footbed.

I want something that is super thin. Just something to eliminate the slimy feeling i just mentioned. I find that I can't get a dress sock to stay up fir long, and i assume I'd be in a world of shit if I showed up in the locker room and started putting on pantyhose.

What do you think?

I've always liked the Bauer Premium stuff as well. I've recently moved to the Stable 26 in my Easton Makos and they're beautiful.

I have two different versions of the Reebok skate socks and they have both worked fine. I used to use the plain sanitary sock from Pear Sox, but I don't have a shop near me that stocks them anymore.

I have a really thin Bauer core sock that I like, and slightly above that in thickness I have underarmour skate socks and swift wick that I also enjoy

Wigwam Gobi polypropelene liners are super thin and can be found at $4-$5 a pair.

+1

Use them in my ski boots as well. Nice and thin and I've found no reason to pay more for socks unless you are going to use stable26 socks... Which I think I might have to do with my next skates.

I use these after going through a couple others.

http://www.inlinewarehouse.com/Bauer_Premium_Performance_Skate_Socks/descpage-BPPSS.html

When put on they are seethrough thin but very strong and they havnt ripped like my other socks have. And at times my toe nails get gnarly I'll admit. They ha e a tiny bit of compression which I like but arnt hard to get on and off and don't hold sweat like my older Bauer socks that made my feet smell as well. Light, dry, airy, thin.

I also used wigwam in the past but someone stole them. Not sure the model though.

I was using the bauer skate socks forevever, until HockeyMonkey gave me a free pair of the light grey Easton skate socks when I bought my Makos. I'll never look back, they're super thin. http://www.icewarehouse.com/descpage.html?pcode=ESYSS8

I also have a pair of sani socks I bought (they feel like they're just pantyhose...lol) but haven't tried them yet.

Have you compared them to the Blue Bauer performance socks? I do like Easton bio dry anything, great feel

I personally like the thin Easton socks, but I also find Warrior's to be of higher quality and a bit on the pricier side, both the Dynasty AX1 and AX2 are great. Check these out: http://www.hockeymonkey.com/skate-socks.html

How do the cut-proof ax1's compare to other socks. I wear a few different pairs of socks, but my favorite so far has been Easton Synergy. http://www.icewarehouse.com/descpage.html?pcode=ESYSS8&gclid=CLOagcbqmbwCFUjNOgodeB4ACQ

They are the thinnest and best feeling of all the ones Ive tried (and pretty cheap), so I would recommend them to OP. Unless you think the cutproof AX1's are better. In that case, I might be making an order. Since seeing what happened to Karlsson, Ive always been slightly scared of getting my Achillies cut.

Yeah, I've worn all three levels of Bauer's socks before I got these. I can't go back now.

I'll look for them around as icewarehouee didn't have the size I needed. Do they have as much compression as the bauers?

One thing I liked about the blue and black is no one steals them in my house and are easy to spot in the laundry. Can't tell you how many times my hockey and dress socks get stolen in the household.

I used to wear socks from what a sock, they were real thin fit awesome. Too bad they went out of business. I actually use diabetic compression socks now, they make 2 different compression sock I tried the heavy compression ones and wasn't a fan of them, the thinner light compression ones were more comfortable
