Equipment managers do actually have some input on what pros use and many pros appreciate recommendations from equipment managers.

Yep, the model is ‘proper fitting shin pads’...

Usually, I see this at busy shops where they get lazy after sharpening and don't properly hone the steel. Buy yourself a hone and also, get yourself an edge checker to make sure it's square.

I have Superfeet Carbon in my Bauer Nexus 7000s (2014) but could easily go back to the stock foot-beds that came with the skates if need be. The definitely feel different, don't get me wrong, but as a skating performance enhancer I don't really notice a much improvement in my skating from a Superfeet footbed compared to the stock footbed.

Use what works best for you. Some people prefer the paper-thin insoles since it gives a better-connected feeling between the skate and the ice. Others like a much thicker insole either due to comfort or foot issues. I personally like the speedplate footbeds as they give a balance between comfort and function.

Of all the ones I've tried, I like the CCM Custom Support (Curex) ones the best. Good arch support and better cushioning of the forefoot. In all honesty, unless you have foot problems, the "rivet cover" insoles are just fine. Not saying aftermarket insoles are not good, just that in most cases they aren't necessary. Shops push Superfeet because they are a high margin item.

What’s going on with the blade on the Ballistik? Was that design on the blade, or something you added? that whole pic is such an awesome snapshot of sticks that were popular at a specific time. For a while everyone really fetishized the one95 and CNT, would be interesting if one could somehow compare them to modern offerings. But it’s all so subjective it would be a wash.

I set my appointment tomorrow for my scan. I am really excited to see how this works out. My feet are awful and just have nothing but issus fitting into anything. So to have skates that actually fit will be great.

I like to test all of the gear so I have an idea of what we are carrying and selling. It's impossible to talk about product X vs Y vs Z if you have never tested it. As it stands, I prefer the skate that first me best over everything else. Currently, that is TRUE skates.
