I went down the rabbit hole before... looks like they're only sold overseas. I found a few UK shops that sold them but the shipping was as much or more than the jock so wasn't worth it for me. They have a model with the garter belt built in which looked nice and it comes in 2 sizes which I like (since the CCM is never very snug on me). The CCM is one size and the elastic is not very elastic-ey. I'm a 31ish inch waist and it stays on but isn't snug by any means, also the little bit of elastic it did have wore off in the first few months, luckily it's a wide/thick waist band so it stays put for the most part.

Let's hope. However, I am leaning towards they'll end up too roomy in the mid foot to toe box region. I'm not really one to use power wedges or whatever insert in the toe, so we'll see. I counted 1 or 2 people on here that went to these from a Vapor 1x and their status is unclear to me on whether the skates are a keeper or not. The forum is hard to parse through in its entirety. Yes, the Machs are nice, but I'm greedy and think I could do better.

That's a good point, but the True skates are designed to be baked, so it's unfair to compare them unbaked to a skate that doesn't change much after baking (like an older Bauer boot where baking only helps with break in). If you are comparing them both after baking, then it's a good comparison.

I am going to try and get more info on this Warrior one. I could use a replacement for my current CCM one so I would like to have a source on more.

They pop up on SLS from US sellers every now and then, I think Fanelli or Valhalla had some last month for VERY reasonable prices (I want to say under $50). I'd just save a search on SLS and check daily, I'm sure they'll pop up again soon. I had to search for the Warrior one and see the ebay listing, looks very very similar to the CCM one and the price isn't bad, just might take a few weeks to get (with ebay I wouldn't be worried about getting scammed too bad, just use paypal and if there's an issue it's usually not too hard to get your money back).

There’s ample room between those two extremes. As you’ve correctly pointed out, it’s very individual where the skate ends up on that spectrum. You can and you actually have to. Otherwise it would be impossible to get a sense of how thermoformability and boot body assembly affect feel and performance for instance. At the end of the day they’re all hockey skates. They’re all comparable to one another. Some comparisons result in a greater degree on contrast, but that’s all an effect of comparison.

You can't compare a true skate to an old Bauer skate. Heck you can't even compare hyperlites to machs. They all fit differently. My argument was that how Trues fit out of box is nowhere near how they fit after baking and should not be judged based on out of box feel. Bauer, maybe, because there's not a tonne of change post bake with Bauer's so seeing how they fit out of box is a better indicator of how they will fit post bake as you shouldn't expect a night and day difference. For Bauer's is I'll agree with you on where you state that out of box fit should be a good indicator of how the skates fit your feet. But it's not relevant with trues at all and to a degree with ccm as they are also very thernoformable.

You'll forgive me for resurrecting a thread going on four years old (no idea if it's more frowned upon to resurrect an old thread or create a new jock thread for the 50th time), but I'm currently in the hunt for one of these jocks, as nothing CCM, Bauer, Warrior, Shock Doctor, or anyone else put out at retail has really worked. So, couple questions... 1.) Are foreign sellers on eBay my only choice at this point? Can't seem to find anyone domestically who sells these at a reasonable price, or even at an unreasonable price, for that matter. 2.) I see Warrior produces an Alpha equivalent to the CCM/Reebok pro jock. I'm assuming they're both identical as they look identical. Is this true?

You thinking a skate should fit good out of the box without baking says it all right there. Imagine thinking a skate should fit your foot great after it's been made and pre heat molded using a generic foot last that's not your own.... U realize that retail skates are pre heat molded right lol. Through all the skates you've tried on and you're still looking for a better fitting skate... Ironic. You're banking on a skate company making a retail skate using a foot last near identical to your own foot shape. Good luck. A skates ability to mold to your foot and adapt to diff ranges of foot shapes doesn't mean it isn't a correct fit. It means it uses advanced materials to allow for this. If after baking the skate is able to fit you near perfect where it was no where close to pre bake, does not mean the skate is still a bad fit. I'm not offended at all. I'm annoyed. I could care less if people prefer Bauer or ccm over true but it's a fact that true and ccm skates use materials that allow better moldability than Bauer.

I can't say between the Fit 1 Bauer, but TF line are pretty roomy overall and the Cat line really slimmed them down with a lot less negative space in there.

I wore a 4500 my whole life and recently switched to the ReAkt 150. I don’t think I can ever go back to VN padding. I feel like Bauer finally nailed it with the 150 in terms of protection/comfort/ventilation/looks and its NHL adoption rate reflects that.

At some point the logical conclusion has to be drawn that these might not be the right skates for people who want to re-engineer the entire skate to match the feel of a previous owned skate. Easy enough to go back to what they had before and it's not that difficult to find second hand skates that have been hardly used, if you have the patience to search for them.

I do think these skates are just naturally big in the forefoot. I’ve had this same issue. Im beginning to wonder why they didn’t just start with a narrower last if the boot is that moldable. The toe box also just comes up so high and has so much volume it just feels strange so maybe that’s what I’m feeling Ive also not been able to figure out if it’s something that’d be fixed with customs as it seems like the toe box is the problem area and from what I’ve heard they don’t change that at all. Searching for skates is not fun. If anyone has a suggestion for someone who needs a vapor fit w/ more volume and slightly wider toe box let me know
