Finally decided to drop my Reebok 5K bucket since the fit never was right. So here's to the Mission Inhaler helmet with Bauer 2100 facemask.

Nice set Hills! How do you like them so far? My Warrior Ritual G2 Custom Pros. Got them in last June and they've just sat around the house because I haven't played since last April. I'm looking forward to getting these babies on the ice today. :)

Here is my submission into Total Goalies march padness. Since it is a picture of my most recently used equipment and new jersey I figured why not post here as well.

It took me 2 google searches to even know what that vent was about. And now the NSA is probably tracking all of my internet activity.

Good on you, Optimus--well done in the net! I tried it for the first time on Weds. Harder than it looks. Our league has "player ratings" where you can only substitute a player with a rating a max of 0.1 rating higher than the player you're missing. It works well.

I can't believe you actually have Custom Pros...those are basically unicorn pads with all the production issues they had! I love them, best pad I have ever worn easily.

From what I understand you're referring to calluses not bauer bumps. Haglunds and bone spurs are both bone and cannot be fixed rapidly without surgery I wouldn't worry about "when they go away the heel will be sloppy" if you punch it. From my understanding it can take years or it may never go away on its own. Not to double post but I have bauer bumps myself and used the bunga pads. They take away pretty much all the pain BUT I have noticed if you wear them with socks you will take up too much of the boot in most cases. I didn't size my skates with the bunga pads on I feel too much of the toecap with it on which makes them useless unless you stretch or punch out the toebox

He holds the record for most shots blocked with skates at Winterfest/Summerjam combined! Plus his shot blocking CORSI rating at MSH events is through the roof.

    Nice writeup here: http://www.betaboston.com/innovation-economy/2015/03/05/sparx-hockey-debuting-500-home-skate-sharpening-device/

Agreed. Should have left out the term haglunds. I assume it is the clinical name for "Bauer Bumps". The bumps on the heel that get irritated can be managed is what I was trying to say. Should have been more specific.

Hey Guys... Russ here. I just got off the phone chatting with JR and giving him the scoop. I was hoping to give you guys a little background straight from Sparx Hockey HQ. I've been playing hockey for 30 years and now I have two kids skating. I started Sparx a couple years ago after I decided that the skate sharpening problem needed to be solved. Getting my skates taken care of is always a hassle, the results are not consistent AND I'd like to have them sharpened way more often than I have time for. My skate sharpening frustrations (and another little detail of me losing my previous job in a layoff) motived me to chase a dream to build a cool company and product for the sport I love. Being a mechanical engineer, I knew from my experience in building medical device capital equipment that we could almost certainly do a better job than had ever been done before. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1223281555/sparx-skate-sharpener-pro-skate-sharpening-at-home You'll get most information in the content on our Kickstarter page above. In summary, we have exceeded expectations of what could be possible in an automated sharpener (even mine). This didn't come by accident. We experimented with every possible variable in the sharpening equation. We consulted with expert sharpeners and skaters. We prototyped and demo'd and refined. Sparx is extremely accurate, clean, and safe. Sparx also has precision engineered components that insure consistent material removal along the entire length of the skate blade - from the first pass until the steel needs to be replaced. I know the MSH'ers will have lots of additional questions and I'll do my best to answer them so you guys and gals have the full scoop. I also talked to JR about coming to SummerJam to demo our machines for you guys. BTW - We're here at Let's Play Hockey in St. Paul. If anyone is here please stop by our booth and introduce yourself.

I went ahead and ordered 2 Alkali RPD lite wood abs sticks for outdoor games. I won't play anything indoors until either the June or August session. I will have to pick up a max stick before that starts. Hopefully the stick quality is as good as what I have seen from the skates.

So I would update this with my extended X800 experience. I picked up an 87 flex and everything is MUCH, much better. I think part of the problem I was having with the blade was that the stick was whipping when I was stickhandling and catching passes (you can see the whip in the video I posted). Everything is much crisper with the 87 flex. It's still not amazing, but it's acceptable. The stick shoots rockets and has a great release. I will continue to use them. You cannot beat this stick for $129. It's just not possible. However, I would advise you move up a flex when purchasing. I usually use 77's.
