Hyperlite skates… live up to the hype?
218hockey replied to pucks_putts's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Kobe Bryant could score 30 in flip flops. That's an old one but your statement made me think of it. -
Okay. I don't see too much physical play Minnesota district, Bantam play. Many of the refs will not let you finish a check as the rule is you're supposed to be making a play for the puck. The play at A and AA level is more of a skating, playmaking style anyway. My son rarely gets checked but I do recall a crosscheck he took right between the back pads and top of the breezers that kept him out of our game vs Warroad. That sucked. I found him one of the discontinued padded Bauer shirts. He likes it.

Avoid those hits.

Do you mean the nearest hockey store is 40 minutes away? What about the Sparx vs certain brands of steel?
-
I remember when Own the Moment in Bloomington was a Hockey Giant.
-
Kind of. The player has to utilize, adapt to, or even overcome the curve. And a grain of salt with the Doughty character. It's not like he's really explaining anything in that video, he's just kind of talking.
-
I thought that too. How can it be a better passing curve than a 88 or 92?
-
That is probably the case. Thanks.

Hi all. Just purchased a pro stock Bauer Hyperlite. It's a P92M, 77 flex. 64.5", 410 grams as it sits with no end plug or tape. Code is: P92M-R 77 HYP-28I HYP I want to put an end plug in it but the shaft walls are so thick I might have to use a junior plug. Not sure what's going on there, I guess the pro stock build.

My son shot the Proto on the ice last week. Said it actually does feel like cheating, just a crazy release. Felt like it might last about two games tops. Ha!

Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener

Why can't you do this with the SPARX for one pass? -
Not gonna happen. It barely holds two sets. Two pockets on mine are really tight making it hard to use. I contacted Howie's and they told me there was a run of them with bad stitching. That was the end of our conversation. They didn't offer me a replacement. Nothing. I wasn't impressed.

I don't get this business. It's based on people wanting an oddball curve? And these aren't CCM or Bauer products?
-
Care to elaborate? Poor fit for you personally or just a poor design in general?
-
To me most protective would be the longest but I understand what you're saying about the elbow fit.
-
Really? Everything I've read says Mach is lightest. I just checked Pure Hockey's website they have the senior Mach's at 59g lighter. Not that it's a big deal.
-
And Mach is Bauer's lightest skate. True?

Anyone try the Powerfly holders yet?

Yep. It's a race to the bottom. -

No lie Bauer top of line gear quality has dropped in the last five years or so. But my sons UltraSonic holders have gone through a tough varsity season and many many runner changes and they still work and feel exactly the same as new. -
Breezers? Are you from Minnesota?

So will this be the end of NHL players losing steel during a shift? -
I heard the Hyperlite's run big.
-
That's great because the most important part of removing the steel is having the trigger pulled way in.

Advice on Hyperlite tongues (possibly switching them)
218hockey replied to Allan1875's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I was told you could order them from any Bauer dealer.
