It doesn't look like Kovalchuk passes the pencil test. Also note the bend in the ankle per another topic. See link. https://russianmachineneverbreaks.com/2020/02/25/ilya-kovalchuk-will-join-alex-ovechkin-in-wearing-yellow-laces-with-the-washington-capitals/?fbclid=IwAR2wDP5KbM0jLRbG3-a7Q9JDS01TPhu0mg82K6DsyJd_N43eWGWe1R1Q8n4

Destroying skates when tieng them up too hard
SirJW replied to value77's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Perhaps the skate doesn't fit? I have a wide forefoot and narrow ankles and find it hard to find skates. -
Pretty sure those creases are from the skate breaking down from use not intentionally.

I've seen motorcycles do it. I'm in your boat and didn't want to blow up my engine. I had a friend in high school fill his 67 Camaros tank too many times with Av Gas at a small airport and the engine eventually blew up. You can mix octanes though so you don't go too high. I tried it in my 89 GTI in the 90's but mixed it cuz I was afraid to blow up my engine. Don't remember what octane but it was in the middle. I really didn't notice any difference.

Adult Hockey Clinic in Central Jersey
SirJW replied to KelpFries's topic in General Hockey Discussions
I don't know the rinks there but yes a place to practice. Sometimes it turns in to half ice pick up but generally there will be space for you to work on your skills. -

>>>stick and puck sessions<< Yes that sounds like what I'm describing. For some reason the name is different all over the US and Canada. On that note look for adult clinics instead of learn to play. Or whatever a clinic is referred to in your area. -

After reading your recent posts it sounds like you are ready to go to Stick Time or Open Ice(?) as it's is called in your area. Not pick up, you should be fine. You might be surprised to find out that others will encourage you and give tips. If the local rinks have true novice leagues check them out too. There will always be ringers but many will be supportive. Also ask around about private pickups that welcome all skill levels again most will be supportive. Open pickups tend to be fast paced. It's also time to get a shorter stick and play around in your street shoes with a ball, puck or roller puck. Use your gloves and just try things. You can even use a ball watching TV working on your stickhandling. As a matter of fact start out using a shorter stick than the standard recommendations. http://www.cuthockeysticks.com/
