  1. I ended up moving on from my TF9's. I have very low volume feet and the R width was still a bit too deep even with the thicker felt tongues. I also didn't feel comfortable dropping down to a 280 holder from 288. Always felt like I was working harder and not going as fast. Found some new last gen True pro stocks that fit me like a glove.
  2. I picked up a pair of True pro stock skates, generation prior to current. They are new, but several eyelets are missing their backing. LHS indicated the Blademaster XL black eyelets appear to be too short- what is everyone using for replacement eyelets?
  3. South Windsor Arena in CT has one, probably hasn't been used in years. The same thought has crossed my mind in the past.
  4. I had a pair done at https://www.skatetechsharpening.com/ with great results. Chad's turnaround was fast and pricing was very reasonable.
  5. You could move the tongues down further into the toe box or use something like Powerfoot to take up some of the toe box space.
  6. That's really cool, I'll check that out.
  7. Thanks boys - very helpful! Great sketch Flip12- mine looked like a serial killer tried to draw.
  8. My Monday night team is likely switching to Hartford Whalers colorway unis. In doing so I think it's time for a logo refresh to go with the new colors. Tim's Auto Repair is our sponsor. I'd love to be able to incorporate the letters T and A into a Whalers style format. Maybe have the top of the T look like a wrench or something to keep the whalers tie in. Problem is I have no artistic ability. Anybody know of any sites that can help with this? I think if I can get a rough sketch of a usable format my LHS can polish it up from there. Any ideas on how to make those letters work?
  9. This one hurts : https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/norm-macdonald-dies-influential-comedian-182106633.html Norm was one of my favorite comics, and even made mundane interviews on talk shows hilarious.
  10. They should try replacing the carbon fiber with a lightweight metal.
  11. Check out the True TF9 /TF7 thread. The stock holders on those are a size down from most other brands. I'm currently going from 288s to 280s but only have a couple of skates in.
  12. Just a heads up, that post was from 13 years ago, and he hasn't logged on since 2011.
  13. Custom + holders are dirt cheap right now. I would find a newer set and sell the discolored ones.
  14. I ditched the PPTK shell that came with my Tacks girdle for PP90. The PPTK felt like skinny jeans. No issues with the kidney padding.
  15. I put several of my son's teammates into those the last couple of seasons. You are correct, they were Trues first venture into the stock skate market. They appear to be the same build as their customs at the time. Nice solid skate. Typically will come mounted with their first proprietary holder (will have the same hole pattern as Tuuk) and Step steel. I would probably choose them over a pair of TF7's personally.
  16. You could also find a pair of gloves that check all your other boxes for fit , protection etc, and have a second layer added to the glove after the fact.
  17. I used this one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088C11C7L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Just get something with a handle. If you are going to wrap the forefoot as well (I did) be sure to put skate guards on.
  18. I didn't use wrap for my initial bake. I have very low volume feet and did end up re baking and wrapping after my first skate to get a better fit. Didn't feel as "locked in" as I did with my customs. Huge difference afterwards. Well worth the 9 bucks for the wrap on amazon. I have my own skate oven so it was just a matter of waiting for it to arrive. Thought about going down to South Windsor Arena to see if their old CCM F.I.T. machine still worked, but the wrap worked great. I have very low volume feet, which is why I went with a pair of VH customs about 8 years ago. I've skated in the TF-9's 3 times in shoot arounds but not in a scrimmage or game yet. Still trying to get them dialed in, but they seem like they will work. I did change out the stock tongue for the felt model to take up some of the volume.
  19. Pricing was $60, just a straight palm replacement. Turnaround was about a week. I imagine that could vary depending on the gussets/condition etc. I don't recall all the options for palm types, and I'm not on Facebook to check.
  20. I think there are a bunch of pics on his facebook page. This is the pair of Team USA Nike gloves. Went with gray palms to match the underarms of the jerseys that year.
  21. I would have Eagle do it as a first choice, and I just had a pair done by Chad at Skate Tech, did a great job. https://www.skatetechsharpening.com/
