One thing the league is wrestling with is how to deal with all of the salty language that will be a lot easier to hear without fan noise to drown it out. It will be fun for those of us that play to hear the chirps and such but they're worried about the "family fun".

It would make sense for teams to have a "non-roster" goalie on hand from their organization should anything happen.

The glaring problem with the "70 game schedule", you're going to ask the majority of teams to start the playoffs without having shot a puck in anger in 4-5 months. The other issue is the fact that it barely, if at all, gives the bubble teams a chance. Unless you were 4 or less points out then you're being shut out, even though you could have had a favorable final 12 game slate that could have seen you leapfrog into a spot. Creating a kind of "play-in" round while the top teams tune up against each other creates an equitable way to decide who gets in and also gets everyone's legs pumping so that when the playoffs start we don't end up watching shit hockey. And yes, there is a money aspect to consider. The league lost a ton over the last 2 months so of course they are going to try and come up with a way that adds competition and gets essentially the same amount of teams involved as would have been had the final 12 games been played. Don't be surprised when the NBA comes up with a similar plan. After all, they are all in the entertainment business.

The 24 team format gives those teams with a potential to have won their way into the playoffs a chance to do so. It makes deadline deals mean something for those bubble teams. It makes conditional picks mean something. We already lost that potential last week surge, the win and you're in on the final day of the season excitement. We lost the excitement of watching that unlikely bubble team claw their way in. The 24 team format gives some of that back. It isn't perfect but it is better than than just calling the season at 70. It forces those teams just in at the break to earn their way into the playoffs, just like the last 3-4 weeks of the season would have done. Could there be some freak Cinderella story where a 12 team shocks everybody and turns the whole thing upside down? Sure. The "purists" will rail and cry and the rest of us will relish in the fun and excitement that it creates.

Good luck.

I have 2 A6.0 tapered shafts and 2 A5.2 Pro sticks and I don't find those any softer than other sticks at the same flex.

Base Hockey shafts, blades and new features

How would you describe the shaft shape of the Reign LT stick? My stick of choice right now is the Stealth CX so wondering how the Reign would compare to that.- 114 replies

Base Sticks - Has anyone used one?
chippa13 replied to ParabolicActivity's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Just go straight thru the website. I used their tapered blades for a little while. They were decent. The only issue I found, which many replacement blade manufacturers have, is inconsistent blade and/or hosel lengths. -
The length of the follow through shouldn't change no matter the height of the shot. The difference will be where the toe of the stick is pointing when the follow through finishes.

Glad to be one. Any questions you've got, feel free. I know what is and will be going through your head.

Got me beat, I've still got just the one stent, granted it was 11 years ago so I win the race. Enjoy your rehab and you'll be back on the ice before you know it.

If you truly love the team sticks and are willing to buy a small batch then you could place an order through a shop that does team orders. The minimum number per order isn't usually that high.

The thinner the sock you wear the better the feel between your foot and the skate.

Same has been said each time the top end stick prices have popped over the years. Remember when folks thought it was crazy to spend $200 on a stick?

CCM still selling V08 at retail???
chippa13 replied to xstartxtodayx's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I thought I loved the V08 until I got a 310. Night and day more comfortable and lighter. -
Being a professional or high level athlete is not an open invitation to mental or physical abuse. Excusing that kind of behavior because it "gets results" is exactly the problem. Forcing athletes to "deal with it" in order to reach the next level is no different than turning a blind eye to the Harvey Weinstein's of the world to protect one's Hollywood career. There will be more stories and they will all be unique with some being worse than others but they will all have a similar theme; abuse of authority and a culture of enabling.
-
Unless I heard wrong, CCM is doing away with the "team stick".

Holding edge in turns - deeper ROH or longer profile?
chippa13 replied to smcgreg's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
The Makos have a pretty aggressive forward lean. He could be a little too far over his toes and not getting enough mid blade pressure to get the bite needed to hold the turn. -
Andrei Vasilevskiy signs 8-year contract with Tampa
chippa13 replied to caveman27's topic in NHL Discussions
DiPietro is a fine example of an organization making a huge mistake and then compounding that mistake. The Isles fell in love with DiPietro's puck handling for one decent year of college hockey and dealt a known cornerstone goalie for the chance to draft him. Then they doubled down on stupid with his contract, that they are still paying. -
Mandatory Helmet for Young Children?
chippa13 replied to KelpFries's topic in General Hockey Discussions
Almost any rink I've ever gone to now has posted signs that helmets must be worn by anyone under X years of age. -
I was a small in both the V08 and the 310.

Columbus will continue to be a revolving door franchise until they move on from Tortorella. Players can only last so long under his go-go-go and everybody blocks shots regime before they get burned out.
