Amazing movie. Jack Nicholson only played the part of the Joker, Heath Ledger was the Joker. No comparison. I wanna check it out in IMAX as well.

I saw it last night and thought it was awesome. I was not expecting it to be as long as it was. The action was great and i was really sucked into the movie. Ledger did an amazing job playing the joker. Two-face looked exactly how it did in the comics. Speaking of Two-Face, do you guys think he is still alive? I think he could be a great villan for the next movie. Also it never really says what happens to the joker. I havent read the comics or anything, so could someone try to tell me what happens to him after the dark night and before the next movie?

The Dark Knight film wasn't based on any comic, so it's impossible to say what happened to Joker.

I'm pretty sure that Ledgers death will alter two-face's fate.

So instead of (most likely) beeing dead, two-face is alive and in a isolation cell while Harvey Dent is "officially" dead.

I can't recall if they found Rachel's corpse, or if the police and batman just presumed she was dead in the blast? I had this weird feeling while she was talking on the phone with harvey, that she (due to the closeup on her) wasn't in the exploded building at all, but at a different location.

And unlike most I didn't feel Maggie Gyllenhall did a poor job at all, she was just surrounded by a few actors who did amazing jobs.

What about the coin Harvey found at the scene though? He gave that to Rachel.

I think the third movie would lose a LOT of credibility if they bring back Two-Face and Rachel from the dead.

I didn't think Gyllenhall did a bad job with the role, I would have just rather seen Charlize Theron play it. But then again, I'd rather see Charlize Theron in just about any female role in Hollywood currently, so there's that.

I don't think there's anything wrong with Gyllenhall's acting...in my opinion she's just not very pretty and the female leads in comics are usually drawn to be gorgeous. I had a similar issue with the Spiderman movies - while Kirsten Dunst is a bit more appealing than Gyllenhall she's still not "hot" in my mind she's kind of cute. Charlize Theron is a great actress and considerably better looking than Gyllenhall so I'd have no issue with that selection. For the Spiderman films someone like April Bowlby (look her up if you don't know who she is...I don't think you'll be disappointed) would've fit the role better from a looks perspective.

In the Dark Knight I found myself wondering why two men would want Gyllenhall so badly and I just didn't buy it...sure personality and brains do come into play, but there has to be a reasonable level of physical attraction and Gyllenhall just isn't that attractive (of course everyone has their own tastes). Other than that it was a fantastic movie that I enjoyed thoroughly.

I actually find Maggie Gyllenhall very attractive, especially since her face is a little unique, e.g. a girl like Jessica Simpson is less attrative in my eyes since she has a ton of "clones" lookwise (both face, body & appearance).

And Althoma1... your spot on regarding April Bowlby, never seen her before but she looks just like MJ from the comics. I've always been alittle annoyed with the choice of Kirsten Dunst for that role.

Gyllenhaal is a good actress, just not attractive in the least, even the opposite. It's like her face is melting off. But choosing actresses based only on appearance or status is what gets people like Katie Holmes and J Lo roles in movies, and that ain't good.

Looks like we may have our new villain for the next film... There's an article on MSN.ca saying that Depp has been approached to portray the Riddler in the next Batman film. Could be a good move. If anyone could match Ledgers performance, I think it would be Depp.
