Goalies use composite sticks now? I remember when Bauer first introduced them no one would touch them because of durability concerns, Have they been fixed?

I think they are pretty damn good nowadays.  I don't think Bauer ever really had many durability issues with Composite Goal Sticks.  It was all about feel.  If you were used to FC you probably didn't like Composite.  That said their top price point goal sticks are really good.

Rebound control was one of the perceived issues as well.

All being said, they are being accepted at retail as well.

I remember using the RBK 8K stick with the composite shaft but fiberglass paddle. That right there was a great goal stick.

True actually makes a really awesome one with a matte finish. I'd own one but the CAD is too brutal.

Good god that blue stick is ugly... but I want it!

Seriously, why is it in a QRL5!? Why can't it at least be a 3 or QRL Pro? The one that is a QRL is the one I don't want.

I just didn't like the vibration I'd feel in my hand when a puck hit it.

I receive a lot of complaints due to how easily pucks take chunks of carbon out of the paddle.

Bobby Ryan using a ribcor during preseason, no more sherwood?

"Sher-Wood is no longer an official on-ice partner for the NHL. However a couple guys will continue using products without the Sher-Wood logos. Our goal is to refocus our marketing ressources (both human & financial) to promote the game of hockey at more of a grassroots level with our retail partners rather than at the NHL. "

Hope that answers your question.

Hopefully it allows them to release a more affordable product, as they wont be paying players to use their product nor paying the fees to the NHL to have logo rights.

Player endorsements have little to nothing to do with the affordability of a given product.

Paying a player to endorse your product and paying for your product to be in the NHL is extremely costly. Not paying these costs may help from Sherwood charging $250 for a twig. Seeing as their new top o' the line is coming out at $200, it probably has. I have always been informed that huge reason for the price of twigs as they stand has been how much money the companies spend on marketing, paying pros, and paying NHL fees.

I disagree.  Sherwood never had a 260.00 price point because of regardless of how good it was, the brand name had lost a ton of luster at retail for an extended period of time.  They were better off undercutting the 260.00 stick price point, and then finally offering a quality product (Nexon, T series, Rekker) for 60.00 less.

It wasn't until the Nexon line that people started to buy back in on the brand name, and that was after a long drought for the company.

Sticks are 299.99 because people will pay 299.99.  Plain and simple.

I am going to purely speculate, but Sherwood hasn't been a huge player sponsor in ages (Stastny, Ryan, Trouba, Plekanec?  Thats pretty much it, I think) and financially it didn't make sense for them to pay the exhorbinant  league fee's form a business standpoint.

I feel kind of lied to by those Warrior paint jobs. OG Dolo graphics, but different flex profile.

It's like when you're watching a porn and everything is going great, then people start taking off their pants and nothing is what you were expecting.
