Agreed. The filter can be reused. I usually just give it a good vacuum. I have replaced it once in the 4 years I've owned the machine when the filter just got way too dirty.

I was always a Vapor guy, but I sort of stumbled upon a pair of 1s skates in a C width for $700 just before the 2s Pro came out back in 2018. The MSRP was $950 but they were marked down because they were the outgoing model. I like them quite a bit. Only issue was that I sized down from a 7 to a 6.5 with these (based on the Bauer scanner) and I didn't realize that would give me a smaller holder and shorter steel, which I don't like so much. At this point I'll probably keep these skates until the successor to the Mach is released next year (hopefully with the Powerfly holder that is on the new Hyperlite 2s). I think $450 would be a fair price for a brand new set of old stock 1s skates.

ATMO, the 1S was the last great Bauer skate. I loved mine. They had everything you need, and nothing you didn't. Light with the right flex and stiffness. The skates that followed just added unnecessary bells and whistles that did nothing to improve performance. That being said, the market is a sucker for marketing, so the masses want the "latest and greatest". I think between $400-$450 shipped is a fair price.

Either buy serviceable bearings (the ones you can take the covers off) and clean and relube them a couple times a year or buy really cheap bearings and replace them a few times a year. I notice a big difference between cheap and quality wheels, but I can't say I notice a big difference in bearings. I'll usually use bearings for a while indoors and then relegate them to outdoor use when they get a bit loud (even after cleaning and relubing if they're serviceable), but still spin fine. If they aren't rolling smoothly and they can't be serviced then they're thrown out.

I’ve been skating inline since I was a kid in the 90’s. Never splurged on ceramic or any other bearings really. Just regular upkeep (clean/lube). What I’m using now are some $20 or $30 bearings I bought off Amazon. Zero issues with them.

I had an interesting discussion with someone from Bauer a month or so ago. He told me that about 70% of the pros wearing hyperlites this year are actually wearing 2Xpro's with a hyperlite aesthetics package. Some are still using the 2Xpro graphics, which won't be offered after the 2021-2022 season. His point was that the pros find something that works and they don't like change. For me, it says a lot about the real life advantages of hyperlite features.

You don’t have to invent a material to innovate with it. The vast majority of companies are leveraging tech developed by outside orgs and creating products with them. Invention and innovation aren’t synonymous, just look at the Segway.

Been on them now for prob a month or so, skate often, 10 hours a week. While I can't say I notice anything about the flex stuff, I can agree with the "not tying them so tight, is better" sentiment. And these are comfy... really light. So far I must say I love them. I hope they stand up.
