VH Footwear/TRUE by Scott Van Horne
IPv6Freely replied to dsjunior1388's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
So if anyone remembers this far back, when I first got my VH I ripped the Achilles area putting my foot in. Since then, I’ve used a shoe horn to put them on every time I’ve skated with no issue. Well, today I was public skating with my wife and I wasn’t about to bring my 3’ shoe horn. I put my foot in and... rip. So now both of them are damaged. Now, these skates are now 5 years old and while I’m probably due for an update anyway, I want to make these last a bit longer if possible. Of course, going forward I’m going to make sure I use that shoe horn no matter what and have already ordered a small one on amazon to stick in my backpack for public skating. Can anyone recommend an adhesive that would work here? It’s down to the foam itself so I’m not sure if any glue is going to work very well. With where that bit is, you could probably put a couple stitches through it to hold it but I don’t have my industrial sewing machine (yet) to be able to even consider doing it myself. -
New wheels for the wife!

All of them are going to drive you nuts at first. Just have to keep doing it and eventually you notice it less and less.
-
Shrug. Okay.
-
Agreed. Though my first stick when I went back to hockey after 20 years was a Bauer 100+ because I had no clue. I still can’t flex it!
-
Wouldn’t it be annoying that the width of your skate blade narrows in width with every sharpening? I don’t get the point.

LOL sounds about right. In other related news, we had our first playoff game last night. Their team was permitted a sub because they “might be short”, despite him having never played a game with them before. They ended up with 9, which was exactly one more than we had. The whole thing seemed... wrong. IMO that shouldn’t happen. If you have 5 skaters then you play with 5 and it’s on you to try to get your players to show up. If you have less than 5 then sure you can have a sub, but it’s a forfeit. Getting approved to have a sub when you already have 8 guys is a bit silly. Ended up not mattering though. We won 3-2 with the winning goal coming with 44 seconds left. Our first playoff win in a number of seasons. We were the 5 seed playing the 4 seed (6 teams, 1 and 2 get byes, 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5). At least the overall parity in the league is better this season. The top 3 teams were all tied in points. We were nowhere close to that but at least one team isn’t just crushing everyone.

Andrei Vasilevskiy signs 8-year contract with Tampa

Seems about right for the top goalie in the league. -
Its life’s way of distracting you from the rest of the suck. Maybe? Well, I tried 😞

Icetown Carlsbad, Div 5.

We really need to add a player to our team who immediately becomes the top player in the league. That seems to be what every team does every season except us. We’re the idiots that keep bringing people up from rookie league instead.

Flex has nothing to do with length. Intermediate sticks should all be the same length.
-
For sure. But you gotta start somewhere when it comes to length to be able to develop preferences. Start with the nose without skates and adjust from there. That seems to be the general standard for length.
-
I'd just buy online personally. http://www.officialswearhouse.com/

I’d look at intermediates as well. I found an intermediate was the exact length I wanted so I was getting the flex stamped on the stick. I’m 5’8 so it was perfect for me.

Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener

I don’t understand the question. Why would the crossgrind wheel not work? -
I think it was Howie’s that posted 1/2” tape as an April fools joke at one point. Honestly I think it’s something that would actually sell.

Adapting a Bauer 2S girdle for suspenders
IPv6Freely replied to farnarkler's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
It would be an easy mod. You can buy suspended buttons online. I think attaching to the girdle makes more sense though so you don’t have to have a set of buttons on every shell you use. -
Materials for making replacement protective liners

Maltese is dead 🙂 You'd be looking at ECOproFOAM which like Maltese I don't think is available in sheets. That said, there are plenty of other HD airgel products out there. PAW sells some here: http://www.protectiveathleticwear.com/materials.htm Personally I'd be looking at a synthetic suede (like nash) or something (same link as above) if you don't want the mesh. That's what's used on the inside of the Passau goalie knee pads: I think a thin Airgel layer with a layer of low density foam for comfort, wrapped in either spacer mesh or nash depending on your preferences. You've got me thinking now... I have Mako shins that I loved the fit of but the padding flattened out. Was going to toss/donate them but maybe I could come up with a new liner... -
Materials for making replacement protective liners

The foams in the liners aren't even all that dense or protective really. At least not in the originals. And the spacer mesh does already have some level of padding in it already. You could probably get everything you needed from somewhere like seattle fabrics. I could probably make replacement liners pretty easily... I wonder if that would be worth trying. -

If nothing else works, just paint it black 😉 -

The “main ingredient” you’re looking for is “spacer mesh”. -
Kind of reminds me of the Warrior girdle

Thanks man, wish you were here!

Correct. If it’s recommended then you should be doing it. I was given the option.
