  1. They are playing games here. There's an out-of-town team (1-hour drive away) playing a game this weekend (just happened to be looking at the rink schedule).
  2. Yeah. I had a bozo sharpen my skates with 1" ROH. It was actually worse than when I brought them in. This site used to have sharpening services, unless JR Boucicaut has reopened. Not everyone likes No Icing Sports in NH, but I send my blades to them. They always do a great job even though it costs more. Why, I don't trust the local sharpeners. They have one guy who is really good, but there's no guarantee he does your skates. I use the Sparx sharpener at the pro shop a bunch of times until I need to get them sharpened really good (usually if I get a major nick in the blades running into someone or the goal post).
  3. They might be hoping there will be a vaccine by then. Or, they don't want to start this month only to stop for lockdown reasons. Border restrictions would also be a reason as Canada still has strict entry rules right now. I don't think a team could cross into Canada for a non-emergency reason.
  4. Valid question. There's an entire sub-forum for Prosharp-based custom profiles and a sub-sub-topic for quad profiles. Not sure if you have checked it out yet. But, people give their opinions on various profiles they tried out. You'll see that two people will have a completely different experience with the same custom quad profile. https://modsquadhockey.com/forums/forum/191-the-prosharp-project/
  5. The Western Hockey League’s board of governors announced Wednesday that the junior hockey league’s next regular season is scheduled to begin in early 2021. “The WHL is very excited to be opening our WHL regular season on Jan. 8,” Commissioner Ron Robison said in a news release. ... “The WHL has agreed that all regular season games during the 2020-21 season will be played exclusively within the boundaries of each of the four divisions, with the East Division consisting of the seven Saskatchewan and Manitoba-based teams; the Central Division consisting of the five Alberta-based teams; the B.C. Division consisting of the five B.C.-based teams; and the U.S. Division consisting of the five teams located in Washington and Oregon,” the league said. ... https://globalnews.ca/news/7397704/whl-western-hockey-league-coronavirus-regular-season-plan/ Interesting article. You might find at least one of your favorite players in this list. https://whl.ca/video/127-whl-alumni-named-to-nhl-opening-night-rosters
  6. The Canadiens have picked up goalie Jake Allen and right-winger Tyler Toffoli. Allen as a back-up to Carey Price is good. Toffoli as a winger is okay. I hope he fits into their system and add some offense at the right time. I already know why the Canucks didn't keep him.
  7. The $36 million for 6 years is a lot. I wonder if David Rittich will be getting less ice time next season.
  8. There's multiple things this could be. Some guys have already mentioned hydration. If you aren't drinking enough water before and during practices, that will give you problems you have mentioned. You may need to stretch out before and after practices, and also just at home when you feel tightness.
  9. TRUE Sports, a leading developer and manufacturer of hockey, golf, baseball and lacrosse products, has announced the acquisition of QC-based goalie equipment manufacturer, Lefevre Inc. While the terms of the deal were not disclosed, the acquisition will add exciting, innovative technology to the company’s advanced R&D portfolio, as well as expand TRUE Hockey’s reach into the goalie equipment market segment. “Working with Lefevre is something our entire team is looking forward to,” Chris Considine, President & CEO of TRUE Sports said. “At TRUE Sports, our commitment to improving the player experience has never wavered, and we knew from our first meeting with Lefevre that this was the right move to make. This next chapter will help us continue to be the fastest growing hockey brand in the world, and it will generate additional partnerships with distributors, professional players, and influencers.” As part of the agreement, TRUE Sports will continue to manufacture Lefevre goalie equipment in Canada. All Lefevre employees will be retained and will be moving forward with the business. “We are thrilled to be starting this endeavor with TRUE Hockey,” Michel Lefevre, President of Lefevre said. “It was important to us that we continued with a company that’s as eager to improve the player experience as we are. It was vital to us that our team be able to retain their current positions, while aligning with one of – if not the most – innovative hockey brand to date. It’s been a natural progression from the start and we’re eager to see what the future holds!” Both TRUE Hockey and Lefevre currently distribute their hockey product lines globally and are used by elite level hockey players around the world, including a wealth of NHL goaltenders. https://www.true-hockey.com/true-sports-acquires-iconic-goalie-company-lefevre-inc/?doing_wp_cron=1602268237.4540030956268310546875 Thought I would create a new thread. LeFevre was independent for a couple of months. Both companies are headquartered in Montreal so that's a plus for them. I wonder if their gear will be branded as TRUE or Lefevre. I'm guessing they will want the TRUE name and maybe have a small patch or print that says "Designed by LeFevre". It creates a stronger brand recognition. Now a goalie can have TRUE goalie skates, goalie stick and goalie equipment.
  10. I'm sort of surprised. But, the Capitals have also signed Henrik Lundqvist to a $1.5 mill 1-year contract. This is a plus for the Canucks who haven't had solid goalies since they had Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider together.
  11. ... Lehner signed a $25 million, five-year contract with Vegas on Saturday that gives him some much-desired stability. Committing to Lehner gives the Golden Knights the same at the goaltending position while plunging one-time face of the franchise Marc-Andre Fleury into uncertainty. Lehner has a modified no-trade clause as part of the contract and believes staying in one place will help him personally and make him a better goalie. ... https://www.yahoo.com/sports/vegas-signs-goalie-robin-lehner-25m-5-deal-163623209--nhl.html Interesting. He played well during the playoffs.
  12. Wow. That leaves Pittsburgh with just Tristan Jarry. Are they going to bring up a goalie from their system or sign someone up before training camp?
  13. Unexpected news. Throat cancer. He smoked a lot. I guess it was from that. Kind of strange news as I've been playing guitar since the 80s. RIP.
  14. It's starting today at 7 PM. I usually don't bother watching. Most guys end up playing in the semi-pro leagues, continue playing in junior hockey or start college hockey. I rarely recall anyone who gets drafted. They might even get traded before they even play a minute on the team they got drafted in. Side note for Canadiens fans. The Habs traded away Max Domi and their third round pick for Josh Anderson of the Columbus Blue Jackets. I'm not too jazzed about giving away the third round pick, but trading for a player with known results is less risky than picking a teenager who could become a bust.
  15. In an unsurprising but nonetheless difficult move to make, the Rangers bought out Henrik Lundqvist’s contract on Wednesday. “Few players have been as important to the Rangers franchise as Henrik Lundqvist, and we are incredibly grateful for all he has done for our organization,” Rangers owner James Dolan said in a statement. “Over his 15-year tenure, he not only established himself as one of the best goaltenders to ever play the game, he has also been one of hockey’s fiercest competitors and most effective ambassadors. He will always be a part of the Rangers family.” https://www.yahoo.com/sports/rangers-buy-henrik-lundqvists-contract-232214045.html They have two younger goalies who are good. They could trade him to a team that needs a good back-up goalie, but that would be sort of insulting. Not sure if he's going to look for a new team to play with, become a goalie coach or retire.
  16. About two more hours before the game starts, I like that it can go either way. Predictable lop-sided championship games are kind of boring.
  17. Well, I'd have to disagree. Stick manufacturers make a variety of sticks with different flexes, blades, lies, and kick points because they know there is no one-size-fits-all type of stick. Warrior, Bauer and CCM have developed three different stick models with different kick-points geared towards three types of shooting styles. And for each model, there are different curves. It would be interesting to find out from each manufacturer, which kick-point is most popular, which toe (square or round), which facing(open, partial open, closed) and which curve (toe, mid or heel, not model) is most popular. I think P88 is as popular as P92. Maybe not.
  18. ha ha. I didn't see your reply. 😄
  19. Hmm, I had to look it up. He's played in 57 regular season games for this season so I think his name goes on even if he doesn't play one Stanley Cup game. To have one's name engraved on the Stanley Cup certain requirements must be met. A player must have at least 41 games played with the club or one game played in the Stanley Cup Finals. However, in 1994 a stipulation was added to allow a team to petition the Commissioner for permission to have players' names put on the Cup if extenuating circumstances prevented them from being available to play. http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=25432#:~:text=A player must have at,from being available to play.
  20. Interesting question. He's been attending team practices for weeks. Maybe he's risking possible re-injury if he plays, which might take him out for all of 2020-21 season.
  21. I have no idea. My current gloves are pro stock CCM HG41, which I think they are tapered fit, but I have no idea how that correlates to AS1 or FT1.
  22. 2020 Stanley Cup Finals starting this Saturday in Edmonton, Alberta. Dallas Stars vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Kind of a big deal for Dallas who has been shuffling around in the middle of the pack for years. Tampa Bay is back in after 5 years. One guy on their team is from my hometown. It looks like they are evenly matched, so I think they'll go seven games.
  23. I didn't see the Islanders being able to come back from a 3-1 deficit, but they did keep their goals-against in their last 2 games down to one goal during regulation time. I thought Varlamov was playing great.
