  1. Yes, Interesting that the steel hasn't separated from the carbon fiber though. Sounds like all problems are related to the carbon fiber part breaking down in some way.
  2. Thanks. I got anterior approach total hip replacement (today) for left side. I don't know if he put in a ceramic ball or other. I'll ask in my follow-up visit. The anesthesiologist did a good job and I wasn't nauseous post surgery. I had ACL reconstruction decades ago and I was totally nauseous afterwards. I was given ginger ale and nausea medicine and I threw it up. I have prescribed physical therapy which I'm going to on Wednesday. I'll do that until I really don't need to go and can things on my own. I've been to this same physical therapy office a bunch of times through the years for other surgeries... I should get frequent flier miles. The post-op surgery nurse gave me a bunch of exercises to do at home until then. My doctor does have BHR training/experience but he didn't provide that option. My right hip was worked on three years ago and got scoped. Same orthopedic surgeon who worked on me today. He said it was looking worn and I will probably get total hip replacement for that in the future. Did your doctor give you the "okay" to go back to work, to drive, to exercise/run/lift/play hockey? If so, when did that happen.
  3. Forward/depth (i.e. padding is thicker) or sideways (wider leg channels)?
  4. Well, I'll be getting this surgery pretty soon, like this week. Got some questions for guys here who have had it. Anyone else get this procedure done? How long did recovery take before you were able to skate? Play hockey? Do you play forward/defense or goalie? Any complications in playing hockey?
  5. Hmm, the latest Vapor 2X Pro are nothing similar in appearance to my Vapor X100 shin pads. They don't have the segmented lower shin section. It seemed gimmicky anyway. I wore the Vapor shin guards under the tongue and got a shin pad that was an inch shorter than my previous Rbk/CCM pads.
  6. There are some online tips to use bleach and water. Not sure if there are any metal parts molded into the blade holder that would get ruined by the bleach.
  7. Not surprising. AHL teams already have advertising on their team jerseys.
  8. Interesting view. I had no idea how new carbon fiber quarter panel skates are connected to the inner layer of the boot. . If you use epoxy, it's going to cure in the shape you leave it, so wearing the skate tied up for a couple hours might be weird.
  9. I usually lost at face-offs. Using a right-hand stick, I tried to draw the puck backwards to my left defense 50% of the time, push the puck to my left winger 40%, push the opponent's stick away and draw the puck backwards 9% of the time, or pull the opponent's stick up and try to kick the puck 1% (it never worked for me).
  10. Bauer Hockey, the world's leading hockey equipment manufacturer, announced today that it has acquired ProSharp AB, a premium skate sharpening and profiling company based in Sweden. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/bauer-hockey-acquires-leading-sharpening-and-profiling-company-prosharp-301346577.html?tc=eml_cleartime&fbclid=IwAR1wlPMcBS0oVN5CGuCLWbqC9Yxfln_aA_vm62TtF_nZ16at6SgviGloUuI Hmm, I wonder if CCM will try to buy Sparx or Blackstone.
  11. Looks like Alex Ovechkin will be finishing out his career with the Capitals unless he gets traded.
  12. Although they'll be in Beijing for the 2022 Olympics and are hundreds of miles away from Wuhan, I wonder if any teams or athletes are hesitant to go there. I hear zero news of the delta variant of COVID-19 in China. Although they were locked down sooner than the rest of the world, they also opened up sooner.
  13. I would have to disagree with going with a larger radius on a profile. A beginner needs to make c-cuts and perform swizzles. A larger profile is going to make that harder to do. Learning to stop with a larger radius is also more difficult. Higher-level skaters already have balance and strength to initiate turns and stops with larger radius blades.
  14. I guess they are assuming both countries are going to have open borders when October rolls around.
  15. I don't know how much trading they are going to do. Of course, it's not optimal to be limited to pick one player from each team among an unprotected list and then have cap space to think about. Here's their roster with value per player if anyone is interested. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nhl/news/seattle-kraken-draft-roster-nhl-expansion-picks/1cmaxh0u08qzu1p95xaugxzuwc
  16. Ok. Just from what you've said, it sounds like you want to adjust the pitch of the blade. Changing radius might not help. If you feel like your skates are pushing your body back on the heels, you will want more aggressive pitch.
  17. How long have you been skating? What skating moves do you have difficulty with? Cross overs, hard turns, hockey stop, skating backwards, backward crossovers? Stick is used as balancing crutch and boards are used to stop?
  18. As for pants, I really like pro stock CCM pants from prostockhockey.com. These are leftovers models that were issues to pro teams. Some models might have better protection along with the team's colors and logo.
  19. I'll be looking over their roster once the draft is done.
  20. Interesting. I had to look up the rules for UFAs and the expansion draft. https://soundofhockey.com/2020/11/12/breaking-down-the-seattle-kraken-nhl-expansion-draft-rules/ It's a possibility that the Kraken would want to pick up Ovechkin and Ovechkin would accept their offer. Ted Leonsis is known for letting go of key assets, like Barry Trotz, Braden Holtby, etc. It wouldn't surprise me if they lowball Ovechkin on a future contract and Ovechkin accepts an offer from another team that has the cap space.
  21. Hmm, that's interesting. Let us now how it fits after you try it on. I would also be moving down to Bauer intermediate skates with their new sizing system.
  22. Seems like Christmas shopping with all the quality players who aren't protected. It would have been interesting to see each unprotected player's price tag. I would pick up Alex Ovechkin if I were Seattle. I think he's much like Jaromir Jagr and can keep on playing well for 4 to 5 years.
  23. What's your dress shoe/street shoe size?
