Do you have some kind of receipt from the store that shows the size you ordered? I would assume if you have something that says "Size 8" and the box says "Size 8.5", that would be enough proof that the store made a mistake. Have you seen this thread?

Just curious. They are larger or smaller than you want?

Inline & Ice hockey Shops in NY, Vegas, LA and San Francisco
caveman27 replied to GQRDY's topic in Hockey Rink & Shop Locator
Gerry Cosby is closed in mid-town NYC. There's a MonkeySports store in Woodbridge, NJ, but would be a 30 mile drive from Midtown NYC. Gasoline plus tolls plus time wouldn't make it worth it. Driving there and back would take over 3 hours and possibly 4 depending on traffic. -
I started skating and playing the 1980s, so I was used to leather and stitched skates. Going from Bauer Supreme 6000 (mid 2000s) to CCM Jetspeeds (mid 2010s first generation) was okay. The fit has to be right, and break-in period may take longer. A lot of people are recommending Ribcor, which I would also. I had tried a pair of CCM Ribcor (top of the line equiv of Jetspeeds) before returning them and buying Jetspeeds, and one of the differences is the section of skate with the eyelets is much stiffer with the Jetspeeds than the Ribcor. That is, when lacing up the skates, I felt like I needed to use more effort to tighten up the bottom 1/2 set of eyelets and the Ribcor felt like tying up old-fashioned leather skates. I didn't go with the Ribcor because they had this eyelet lockdown thing half way up so you could tighten the bottom half tighter than the top but I found those eyelet locks bothersome. They also had an air pump button, which I didn't feel like made a difference.

Anyone Move from a Supreme EE to a New Jetspeed FT4 Pro?
caveman27 replied to EJB's topic in General Hockey Discussions
I bought some stuff here looking for a hockey blade to use with a shaft. They are in Latvia. Returns might not be an option. https://www.hokejam.com/skates/hockey-skates/senior-skates?size_skate_senior=113 -
I usually use a P28 and play defense and forward. I had an extra composite shaft at the time and bought a wooden blade that had a heel curve since it was on clearance. Getting loft was easier with the heel curve, at least for me, to the point of going over the cross bar on mid-distance shots or icing the puck because I made a sauce pass to a forward that went 15 feet high. Your experience may vary.

I've played goalie for years. Pucks seem to find areas with zero padding.
-
If an intermediate cup has less padding, I'm guessing they don't expect a u12 or u14 boy to take on 90+ MPH slap shots. If you are an adult male, regardless of playing level, you will not want an intermediate cup. I've had three different goalie cups, Cooper, Vaughn and Brian's. All were senior size. I never got a junior or intermediate cup.

You should have padding on the side of your hips for checks, falls, slashes, shots, to where you aren't getting injured from a fall. Maybe your pants are cheap or the foam in the padding has worn out. If you look at a hockey girdle, the padding you see is also in your pants. Cheaper pants have no padding on the back of the thighs but that's not where you are falling. I would suggest getting new pants. Beefier ones. Check this out. https://www.prostockhockey.com/pants/ There are pro-level pants that are under $100. I am a gear whore and I've shopped there before, but that's not important for you to know. The CCM pants with an X in the code, like HPUCLX or HP45X will have more padding than the usual pair of pro-stock pants.
-
I wanted to get beefier pants in the tailbone area and i got CCM pro stock pants. Pretty much satisfied with them but their mediums are a bit tighter than Bauer and Warrior mediums. As for not knowing what you are getting, you are likely going to get the bare minimum that are with the retail pants equivalent. If the CCM pants' code has an X in it, you are getting more padding than the retail version. I didn't get one with an X

I didn't expect Canada or the US to lose in the quarter-finals.

PP10 has elastic inside leg section. PP12 has zipper on inside leg.

No thanks. I wear Senior Small. But, I have a newer pair of Easton elbow pads I bought but only played one season with.
-
It's fabric-covered, square thin foam flap that is attached at the edge of the cuff. So, the back of your hand makes contact with this square pad. Your wrist and forearm are above this foam thing. Your fingers are below this foam thing. In this picture, it is sewn to the cuff of the glove, next to the left of that flag patch. The other three sides of the square are not sewn to the glove.

Ironically, the S13 were the first Easton elbow pads I bought and were really good for me.
-
A couple years ago, I tried a pair of Easton elbow pads. They never moved down, which was great. Easton doesn't make hockey gear anymore. I had to find some 'new old stock' Easton elbow pads on sidelineswap.com when I needed to replace my first Easton elbow pads. Their design is to lock the elbow pad to the forearm to prevent slipping with multiple straps with 2-piece elbow pads.

With NHL players not going, I am guessing China still will get blown out.

Time traveler - Some gear questions
caveman27 replied to LauraPalmer's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Heel curve is still around, but toe curve and mid toe curves are more popular. Check out Pro Stock Hockey. https://www.prostockhockey.com/player-sticks/?&search_query=player-sticks&filter=Curve_fq:"Heel"&rows=20&start=0 Regular sharpening of skates is still around and needed for re-profiling, changing ROH, balancing unequal blades and sharpening of new blades. SPARX is mainly meant as an easy and automated way to sharpen blades. It's also nice way to avoid a bozo noob from ruining your skates right before a game. -
That's right. But, I had a hunch that it was for something other than for playing. Why would someone care about width measurement when they are all about the same?
-
He wanted to make hockey stick phone cases. Not play with them.
-
For the most part, all senior sticks of all brands are the same (except for that 5-sided shaft). Are you making a hockey stick table or something?
-
There was an inline skate shortage back in the summer of 2020. I wonder if that exacerbated the ice skates shortage.
-
I just wear a short-sleeve t-shirt on top and thermal waffle, long underwear on bottom. They keep the legs warm to avoid muscle and ligament strains. Thermal underwear top is too hot unless I'm playing in a very cold rink or outdoors when it is 20 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit (-6 to -12 Celsius).

Well, if his old skate size was the same as his shoe size, that would explain the bauer scan size.
