  1. Probably works well during the regular season and then stops working in the first round of playoffs...

  3. Well, now the Penguins are out. I don't care who wins. Ha ha. Just kidding. OIlers vs. Flames = Battle of Alberta teams. Should be a tight match every game.. Blues vs. Avalanche = I don't follow either of these teams and don't know much except the Blues have some leftover players from their last Stanley Cup winning team. Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Florida Panthers = Battle of Florida teams. I'd like to see the Florida Panthers win. But, Tampa is looking like a dynasty team with the same key players and goalie. New York Rangers vs. Carolina Hurricanes = I'd like to see Carolina win just because the Rangers beat out the Penguins in round one.
  4. Interesting, Looks like it is just that one guy with the V.

  6. Well, my favorite team, Montreal Canadiens, raced to the bottom of their division but didn't quite bottom out. If you don't know, there was a head coaching change that was a little too late. My second favorite team, Pittsburgh Penguins, is doing good. Series is tied 1-1 with the NY Rangers. I'm watching how the Washington Capitals are doing as they are the local favorites.
  7. Old curves usually are hard to find as no one uses last names anymore. It's all code now. Best is to know what features the blade you like: lie (4, 5, 5.5, 6, 7, etc.), curve placement (heel, mid-heel, mid, mid-toe, toe), curve face (open, closed), toe shape (round, square), curve depth (3/8", 1/2") and then find a curve with those features. 8. Bauer, I wear 13" (which means I get to shop in the intermediate shin pads department) and CCM is 14".
  9. Interesting that the endeavor to create a lighter skate through non-traditional materials results in new problems. I wonder what NHL equipment managers do if a plastic-like eyelet breaks for a player's skate. I'm guessing they have back-up skates in one of those equipment crates.

  11. Oh, wasn't that of his own doing anyway? Isn't house league coaching all volunteer? Or do they get paid?
  12. Have you tried changing the pitch of the blades to mimic a spacer-lifted heel?
  13. Just curious, have you compared the old blades from your one90s to the Tydan Edge SS? Are they close? It sounds like the profile is longer on the Tydan blades. Shorter radius profile will help with turns and transitions, but north-south skating will have more resistance and make you more tired than longer radius profile.
  14. I was thinking of skate blades and thought "Who is putting foam in skate blades?"🤣
  15. I had Micron Mega Air 90s. Those were my favorite skates fit-wise. I like CCM JetSpeeds, which are the skates I have now. Biggest plus is the lightweight feel. It's like night-and-day. Heel lock is great and no lace bite. I would recommend trying to find a modern non-leather hockey skate that fits you well.
  16. If he's playing B-level, why is he also playing C-level? Or, is there an A-level, and why isn't he playing at that level instead of going to U11 practices? Of course, there are going to be a once-in-a-while talented kid who excels over other kids his age in your local league or city. But usually, the parents try to push him to play in the highest competitive level possible for him, not the lower levels.

  18. Yeah, years ago, I started in the lowest level, because I couldn't find a team that would pick me up that was any higher, so I joined them. Skating-wise, I could skate two levels higher, play-wise, maybe one level higher. Anyway, as a strong skater, you might be on defense instead of winger or center.
  19. I guess the seller got in contact with a shady stick maker on alibaba and made a bunch of FT4 Pro copies. At $309.99, the real deal is not cheap.
  20. I have the Bauer Concept mask. I get fog/condensation on the mask, particularly after the second period if not during the second period. I kind of wondered, how are elite players in pro, college, junior, and high school playing with a clear mask (half or full) and not have fog? Having seen them manage their masks during games, I decided to do the same. So, what I do, as a beer leaguer, was to bring a towel (or in my case, the helmet cover I made with a towel) and anti-fog spray to the bench with me. Between periods, I will spray anti-fog onto the shield on both sides and wipe it down, like I do before the game starts. Doing this keeps the fog down to a minimum for the whole game. The most difficult conditions are when it is summer with high humidity and there's condensation on the rink's glass.
  21. This looks like is has the plastic logo sewn on the side. 22. Six months have gone by so I started just ice skating. I skated for 30 minutes two weeks ago and 30 minutes last week. The second time, I tried to sprint hard, but it felt funny in my hip. I can gradually get up to speed through regular skating strokes. There's some weakness when I do a t-stop on my left foot. I think I need to strengthen more muscles in my left side .I haven't play any hockey yet.
  23. Richmond, VA costs $795 winter league for 26 regular season games, plus playoffs. All teams make playoffs, I think it's single elimination. so $29.44 a game. But if your team wins more games in the playoffs, the cost per game goes down. They have a shorter summer league.
