  1. What is your street/dress shoe size?
  2. I played in a league where games were scheduled between 7 PM to 11 PM on weekdays and games could be as early as 10:30 AM or late as 10 PM on the weekends. Main thing I do is drink a lot of water during the day, and before the game, I would drink pedialyte. I read some NHL player did that. Ate a small meal at least 3 to 4 hours before a game.
  3. This is true. If you have Fred Flintstone feet like me, the width between the big toe and the pinky toe is wider than a regular width foot, and your whole foot will be proportionately wider and thicker. I have CCM Jetspeed in EE width and the left skate is perfect but the right foot took awhile to adjust, I think it is a bit wider. I first bought a D width and both feet felt like they were clamped, and that's without the laces tied. So yes, there will be extra space in the heels and over the top of the forefoot with EE width skates.
  4. A wider width/same skate size should provide more room for your pinky toe.
  5. When I add additional padding (usually some kind of closed cell foam), I would sew a fabric enclosure around the padding, and then sew the fabric to the equipment. This way, no glue or adhesive is involved.
  6. If you can go to a local hockey store to try on skates in person, that would probably be the best. Do your current skates fit? That would give an idea of where to start, size-wise.
  7. There's your root cause of the problem. When the refs start putting people into the penalty box, the tough guys start losing ice time, get ejected from a game, get suspended and/or banned from the league. You are always going to have rough play, and jerks on the ice. The list of suspended players gets pretty long when the refs are doing their job, but it should send a message as the cost to play a season isn't cheap and no refunds are given. The team captains should be going to the league director about things like sandbagging, bad refereeing, and players purposely injuring someone else. If they don't do that, the league director thinks everything is going fine. There were problems in our league, and team captains did complain. For uncalled penalties, the league would assign two refs to a game to mainly have a second set of eyes to catch penalties. For sand-bagging, the one thing the league did was a player could only score up to three goals in a game in the lowest league. So, if there was a Gretzky skating circles around everyone and sniping the goalies, he topped out after his third goal and would need to pass the puck so the team could score more, or he would play D, to stop offensive pressure. It was kind of effective as most ringers would be able to get their three goals within the first or second period.
  8. Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin continues to rewrite the NHL's record books. The 36-year-old left winger scored his 274th power-play goal against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday, tying Hall of Famer Dave Andreychuk for the most all-time. https://www.cbssports.com/nhl/news/capitals-alex-ovechkin-scores-274th-power-play-goal-ties-dave-andreychuk-for-most-all-time/#:~:text=Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin, for the most all-time. He already tied and surpassed Brett Hull's record of 741 goals and is heading towards Jaromir Jagr's record of 766 goals. I'm guessing he'll surpass it this season, either regular or post season.
  9. Maybe, it's not "illegal". But, if a supplier found out, they can cut off that retailer.
  10. Both. Depends on your style of shooting and passing. Look at all the top NHL players with a curve related to their name. They all have different blades or a variation of an existing one. They all have accuracy to score, don't they? If you had three sticks, one with a toe curve, one with a mid-heel curve, and one with a heel curve, then, you took wrist shots and slap shots with all three. You would want to go with the stick where the puck ended up where you were aiming it. What if all three curves were accurate? As you progress in your game, you will have a tendency to shoot from particular locations (optimal for you). Maybe you like to shoot close up to the net, maybe you like to shoot from the blue line, or maybe somewhere in between. Maybe you rarely shoot, but you stick handle and pass most of the time. One of the three curves will work for your style of play than the other two. Same thing with open and close faced blades. You are able to adjust to all three curves and everything in between, but particular curves will not be to your liking or particular curves will be to your liking. If you don't like heel curve, you will gravitate to toe, mid-toe sticks. If you don't like toe curve, you will gravitate toward mid-heel and heel curve sticks.
  11. Neither effect power. If you want a different release, you might want to look at mid-kick and low-kick options and stay with your current curve. If you want more power for wrist shots, you want a lower flex. If you want more power for slap shots, you want a higher flex. The face and curve differences affect your aim and control for shots and passes.
  12. No, you can't do anything to avoid the blade damage. It happens. There are tools out there to temporarily fix minor issues during a game or practice.
  13. On February 10 at the Beijing National Indoor Stadium, China will begin their group stage play against the US, who are ranked fourth. They play fifth-ranked Germany two days later and the next day take on the world’s top team, Canada. https://www.scmp.com/sport/china/article/3157215/beijing-2022-what-can-chinas-mens-ice-hockey-team-expect-nhl-players It's going to be rough for them. 🤣
  14. The picture and video shows it applied to the forehand curve side only. Wouldn't you want grip for the backhand side too? When I put stick wax on my tape, I apply to both sides.
  15. Probably have to repalm them.
  16. Yeah. They might not even face the US. Canada, Sweden, Finland, Russia, or the Czech Republic could score into the double digits in the first period.
  17. I watched some video. They aren't bad, but are probably similar to a low level Div I or high level Div III men's college hockey team. I don't see why the media are making it a problem, teams get blown out in Olympic men's basketball but that doesn't prevent them from sending a team if they qualify.
  18. The stretching I've done lately was for my physical therapy which I just ended. I got to keep it doing now.
  19. Check out www.prostockhockey.com for pro sticks. They are cheaper than retail and are $130 to 150 for the Bauers. Other brands are from $100 to $180. You may be able to find a Nexus or reskinned Nexus out there.
  20. This documentary was made in 2016. It was on Amazon Prime for free so I watched it. Pretty well made. 4 out of 5 if you like ice hockey and stuff.
  21. I've never had all same-brand equipment. My current gear is CCM skates, helmet, pants, and gloves which is the most individual pieces I've had from one brand at one time. I have Easton shoulder pads and elbow pads and Bauer shin guards.
  22. Its an older chart where RBZ is now Jetspeed
  23. Oh, well, if you want to try something different, look into a heel curve. https://www.prostockhockey.com/player-sticks/?&search_query=player-sticks&filter=Retail_Curve_Comparison_fq:"P02%2FW02%2FE5"&rows=20&start=0
