  1. I definitely had a few Easton aluminum's bend on me to the point that they were useless. That was when I was like 10 too, so I doubt they're actually indestructible
  2. Bsuer sizing is not the same as it was when the makos came out. Half size longer. Compared with Bauer's today I would say makos are the same size. I wear 9.5 supreme and could not comfortably fit in a 9 mako. I felt the same way with TF9s and TF7s, but I only tried on the R width. I did feel like I might be ok in a 9W with the wrap baking method. Regarding the heel, i agree it felt tight but it definitely feels like it can open up a lot
  3. I wouldn't risk welding those, but obviously people have definitely done dumber things. I don't know your means, but I prefer spending money on new skates than copays, so I would get something new. If you need wider look into Alkali or Tour. Tour prices actually are not that inflated. I think the fishbones from 20 years ago were around 400 and now there top skates are probably 6. They haven't gotten much better since then, but they fit wider. Also in higher end models you have Missions in ee
  4. Absolutely agree. It's on True now to resolve this and I've heard pretty good things about them. They definitely can't afford bad cs press on the retails. I would be surprised if the toe padding was the issue too, as they didn't seem to have that much of it to make a half size difference. I bought ROR pro returns and they came with the length inserts for. 5 size difference between the two feet to make the 9.5 boot to a 9 on one foot and it definitely felt more substantial than the toe padding. The TF9 padding doesn't even feel as think as the mako 2, so I can't see that being a solution, but who knows
  5. Given how a few pages back there was a whole discussion about the surprise that very few shops are carrying these, I think it's safe to assume that a lot of folks don't have the opportunity to try them on. I'm not saying that's the case here, just that this is one skate that is definitely not so easy to find in stores to try on.
  6. Cuzt0m m0dz. Pro only option, like the clarino liners
  7. I'd be surprised if you can find anything lighter than the E700, but I also haven't bought any newer helmet models since the last 2014-5(ish?) E700s I bought
  8. The blade on the chrome Chinese ones was terrible, soft and weak.
  9. There are a lot of skates that offer a flexible tendon guard...
  10. Nice catch. So it means that 8.5 will probably be perfect for you. I don't think you'll have an issue taking care of that. Good luck.
  11. I've ordered from them and it definitely takes a while, but it will come. I've never had an issue, although I haven't needed to get in touch with them and it's probably annoying not to be able to reach anyone. They're pretty reputable company
  12. That's awesome. Good luck on your next adventures. Did it years ago, left teaching in NYC public schools (absolute disaster) to run a bookbinding business. Just sold the business and moved out to Phoenix AZ to take a new teaching job and I love it
  13. Not a chance. I have 2 in pretty good condition but I wouldn't sell either of them, and I would expect that if you ever met anyone else who has one they're also not looking to sell ever
  14. I did not have that indent on either TF9s or TF7s. Could be there was a contour in the boot there but definitely not like what you have
  15. It looks like there heat gun and tissue paper trick should fix it
  16. Could be. I was told they couldn't even make me a 15" PPF x905 (14.5 is the PPF+ size) and that they didn't have any leather palm options, not overlays. I never heard that the NHL banned leather, pretty sure Crosby still wears leather shells. Anyway, this is way off topic, but I've probably bought 8-10 pairs of Eagle custom gloves over the last 20ish years, and the options that they offer now are significantly less than what was available in the past.
  17. For sure. I was trying to say that even with the old eyelets and standard height, just changing the tongue was enough to address the lack of forward flex. I'm 200lbs and skate hard, and even I had a tough time with the og tongues, but swapped for regular felt tongues with a pu lace bite protector and I was fine. I'll bet a half inch lower and more moldable eyelets only help even more
  18. Yeah I swapped the tongues from the 2s pros so I never had the issue with forward flex that everyone complained about with the stock tongues, even with the stick eyelets
  19. Yeah that makes sense lol. Haven't tried on ultrasonics but from what I hear they're not a long way from the 2s pros, which are a word away from mako/vh
  20. Lookin good. Even though I think the R1s are pretty hideous, those actually look pretty cool.
  21. What were you using before the True customs?
  22. I took a break from playing from end of 2016-middle of 2019. Warrior had already stopped doing full custom, but Eagle was still doing it. At this point Eagle's custom options are fairly slim. The basic stuff of swapping cuffs or mixing designs from different models they can do, but the heavy customizations are not available anymore. I wear leather gloves or leather palms at the very least. At this point the only leather palms Eagle offers are Digital (not even sure if it's real Pittard's Digital) and Mustang, which is sueded. So the only option for leather palms is a custom repalm job, which goes for over 100 bucks. If I'm paying $250+ for gloves I'd like to get palms that I want. At this point I have 2 pairs of custom L29s (From before my 2016 break) and a pair of black H34s, so I'm probably ok for a long time, but I kinda want a new pair of tan H34s like i used to have. I was gonna settle for the Cali Tan portofino but they wont even do goatskin palms. I'll probably eventually do it and just get digital pro palms so I can rip through them quickly and justify a repalm in either goat or kangaroo. Anyway, my point was just that custom options have significantly decreased across the spectrum, although I'm not familiar with custom stick options.
  23. This is the reality with most custom nowadays. I know with gloves the custom options are basically nill compared to what you used to get. Eagle and Warrior are a joke now. Most shops are very limited in custom work. Graf will still do very custom stuff, as will Bauer and CCM but you really have to know someone to get it done right.
  24. Haha that's wild. Nexed put out a similar frame back in the day. I don't remember anyone having an issue stopping on them though
  25. That's wild, they look huge. I assume you flop them...?
