  1. Yeah nice stuff there. What model are those Grafs? They look nearly new
  2. I'd be very surprised. Frankly, I have yet to find a mask that doesn't completely fog up my glasses, including the blue surgical ones with the metal strip that you can squeeze tightly around your nose. Let us know how it goes. For now, I think I'm just going to play without it, as the rink is not requiring it. We'll see what happens if they throw me into the 30+ league, but if there are no older guys I don't think it will be too much of an issue.
  3. The issue I have with these both is that I wear glasses even when I play and there is no way to avoid getting fogged up. This happens not playing hockey, and I can't imagine how bad it would be while playing. I have yet to find a mask material that doesn't have this issue, and the only thing I can do is lower the mask below my nose. Until now I've just played outdoor roller through this whole thing, but November starts indoor roller season for me. Thanks for posting pics, it seems like neither of these will really work for me
  4. You have to be really careful and check from the inside of the glove, because some gloves have the base layer as two or three pieces that are sewn together along the seams of the overlay. Not sure how to explain in exactly, but imagine that the stitching under the overlay is actually a seam along the base layer, where two or even three pieces are sewn together. If you remove the overlay, your single layer will just be two pieces of palm material sewn together, and as soon as that thread rips your palms will be completely open along that seam. Tl;dr: check inside the glove for a seam on the palm. Don't take off the overlay on of it's there. If the lower layer is one piece, you can try to get the overlay off
  5. Reviving an old topic. Does anyone here do custom Eagle gloves? I'm interested in ordering a pair, but there is no Eagle dealer and Eagle said they won't do direct. I know there were a few guys on here with shops who used to do custom Eagles. If you're out there shoot me a PM, I'd love to support someone on the board
  6. Old L29s and new H34s. Purchased the h34s a while ago but accidently had them shipped to my parents house, so just picked them up today. I'm very happy I scored these even though I got ripped off hard. Now to find some tan color H34s...
  7. We weren't missing anything lol, there was nothing else. Love my gx9500s, wish I could find a way to split those fingers and restore then to their beauty days
  8. I'd be surprised if they don't hold up for shlepping pucks honestly. Good quality brand
  9. Can you actually use those gloves? I have a pair of black ones that I dug up from my parents basement at the start of covid and I would definitely use them if I could get someone to split the fingers. The one piece is impossible to bend. Never had the issue with eagle one piece fingers
  10. You can get a snapback hat and a windbreaker... Lol. I still wear my old type-m pants and injection pants. There only decent pair of pants I've seen the past few years are the tour Spartan xtr. Otherwise, the last decent pant mission made are the ds1s, and they weren't even great.
  11. XP is referring to extra padding in gloves. In pants I believe the extra padding is referred to with just an X. Sometimes they include plastic inserts, but it don't know if that is marked with some other abbreviation. I think this is true, but I don't really play ice hockey at this point so maybe someone else might know better
  12. It's not always possible to fix supination from what I understand. My father is severely bowlegged and also supinated feet and when he turned around 60 he started getting a lot of injuries playing old man softball. This was one of the things they looked at, but there wasn't much that could be done beyond orthotics because of the nature of the ankle joint. Just playing devil's advocate
  13. I use a kids lunch box. The soft insulated kind. They're super cheap now too (lot of schools not open so school supplies are dirt cheap). Come in lot of different sizes and I think you can 20 of them for under 50 bucks if you shop around
  14. This whole thing is so complex. I wear size 11.5 sneakers, sometimes 11E depending on the cut off the sneaker. I wear a 10E dress shoe. My longer foot measures 29.2cm and the shorter is 28.8 or 28.9cm. According to all the charts that would put me in a 10.5 Bauer skate. However, my feet are very flat so when I measure them on flat ground they are longer. But when I put them in skates the arch picks up the foot a bit and shortens it overall. Practically, I wear a 9E skate or a 9.5D depending on volume and width etc. Size 9= 27.7cm, 9.5=28.1cm. my point being that even pure measure of the feet in cm or mm can be mistaken. Best is an experienced fitter and someone who can coach you in how a skate should feel. I had a coach come with me when I was younger and he literally squeezed my foot in different places and explained to me how to describe different sensations on the foot when I put on a boot. Then I tried something on and I would describe it how he taught me and he was able to explain of it was ok or if it was an issue and if it could be resolved or not. And even after that, I have still bought skates that weren't a perfect fit and errors have still been made. It's not an easy job at all. And my feet have changed over the years due to growth, injuries, weight gain and other factors too. And brands have changed their skate lasts and sizing. So even once you think you have it down, it changes again. There's no one size fits all ( pun intended) solution
  15. Yes, I think someone on this board mentioned that they saw someone do that.
  16. Yeah, Eagles are definitely not cheap, but they last. I have a pair of L29s now that are probably 15 years old, have been repalmed 3 times and are due for a 4th repalm. That's 5 palms on one pair of gloves and the shells are still in decent shape. My other pair were tan/natural H34s that lasted me a good 10 years and two repalms before everything fell apart. If I would have known they wouldn't remake that glove I probably would have had them fixed too, but I just tossed them and figured I'll get another pair. When I couldn't find I ordered custom L29s right before I took a break a few years ago and they're almost mint still. And then I just picked up a pair of black H34s that are sick. The tufftek and portofino are not as durable, but still pretty good. I love the Cali tan color so I'm considering a custom pair of either PPF x905s or the Aero pro custom with the flex cuff (4 roll glove with a flex cuff!!) , but I haven't found a place to try them on yet and I won't get gloves that I didn't try on
  17. Yeah I agree. I never had an issue with locked thumbs. But the surgeon cuff is very different from the 11k. The Dynasty ax1s were decent after the franchises, but it don't think the alphas are the same quality. Also, I definitely feel like there warrior pro stocks are a bit larger than marked. I wear Eagles for a long time now, but pretty much the only glove I would leave Eagles for is the 11k/HG12/14. If I could find a pair of leather 11ks I'd probably be wearing those, but the only ones I've ever seen are Crosby that are like 600+. Fine for collectors, but I wouldn't play in $600 Crosby gloves. (Although it did cross my mind recently to restore my old Easton gx9500 Modano pro stocks with new gussets and palms and see if I could find someone to split the finger pads from one piece to two piece). I looked into custom or pro stock coverts and was just not impressed with the protection. Don't get me wrong, if you have money to burn then be my guest, but if you're looking for comparable quality to 11ks you won't find it apart from CCM pro stock and maybe Sher-Wood and STX for cheaper options.
  18. The QRL and QRL pro were decent gloves. The retail padding was awful IMO, but pro stock was decent. The qredge gloves are not great imo. They did not have the mobility of the QRL line and the flex cuff was not as good IMO. They are very comfortable and I would probably use warriors for outdoor street pickup, but not much more. I have a pair of pro stock alphas that I never wear (I liked the colors and got them from a friend for 10 bucks, they need full repalm) and I would say they are decent protection and very light and comfortable, but the foam definitely feels sub par compared to even my Eagles (which are not considered the most protective gloves by any means) so I don't think they will hold a candle to the 11ks/hg12s
  19. If you're looking to replace 11ks I would just stick with them. Nothing warrior offers compares in quality or protection imo
  20. I definitely had a few Easton aluminum's bend on me to the point that they were useless. That was when I was like 10 too, so I doubt they're actually indestructible
  21. Bsuer sizing is not the same as it was when the makos came out. Half size longer. Compared with Bauer's today I would say makos are the same size. I wear 9.5 supreme and could not comfortably fit in a 9 mako. I felt the same way with TF9s and TF7s, but I only tried on the R width. I did feel like I might be ok in a 9W with the wrap baking method. Regarding the heel, i agree it felt tight but it definitely feels like it can open up a lot
  22. I wouldn't risk welding those, but obviously people have definitely done dumber things. I don't know your means, but I prefer spending money on new skates than copays, so I would get something new. If you need wider look into Alkali or Tour. Tour prices actually are not that inflated. I think the fishbones from 20 years ago were around 400 and now there top skates are probably 6. They haven't gotten much better since then, but they fit wider. Also in higher end models you have Missions in ee
  23. Absolutely agree. It's on True now to resolve this and I've heard pretty good things about them. They definitely can't afford bad cs press on the retails. I would be surprised if the toe padding was the issue too, as they didn't seem to have that much of it to make a half size difference. I bought ROR pro returns and they came with the length inserts for. 5 size difference between the two feet to make the 9.5 boot to a 9 on one foot and it definitely felt more substantial than the toe padding. The TF9 padding doesn't even feel as think as the mako 2, so I can't see that being a solution, but who knows
  24. Given how a few pages back there was a whole discussion about the surprise that very few shops are carrying these, I think it's safe to assume that a lot of folks don't have the opportunity to try them on. I'm not saying that's the case here, just that this is one skate that is definitely not so easy to find in stores to try on.
