  1. Yeah, I was thinking that we've come full circle on sticks. One of the big selling points of composites has been that you get a consistent flex and curve from stick to stick, whereas wood had a bigger margin for error, and it wasn't always the same. Now, race to the bottom pricing and profit is sacrificing that consistency.
  2. I know what dumbed down means, but if you simplify a curve, it becomes another curve all together. A p40 is a dumbed down p30. Take away enough of the curves and twists of a 28 and you end up with a pm9. Id assume this is just poor quality control, especially if you're seeing it on SMU sticks.
  3. Formal written apology for the trigger system on Edge holders.
  4. I feel you're paying $160 for a garbage stick (twice), you're doing it wrong. Especially if you're able to wait two months to have it in hand. Put in some time on sites that sell used and pro stock equipment, look at the big name online retailers, and close out at your LHS. Current generation midtier sticks from True and Warrior are straight up outstanding for their price.
  5. If your sticks are the right length to play with, don't cut them to fit in a bag!!! That's ridiculous. - Find a simple barrier between your buttend and the roof of your car. - Untape and retape them every game. - Find a new way to store them in your car.
  6. Can you just put a plastic grocery bag over the blades? Or even a reusable grocery bag? I love buying stuff, but this feels like a waste of $20 that can be spent on tape or beer or pogs. If you really want one, there are a half dozen or so bags on SidelineSwap for 10-15 dollars. I bet a handful of people on here have one they would just give you. I used a stick bag for a hot minute many years ago. It ended up being way more trouble than it's worth. It's honestly more inconvenient to carry a stick bag than it is to just carry two sticks. I'd give you mine, but we use it to store an autographed Crosby stick that's in the back of a closet somewhere (Rbk standard shaft with blacked out Sherwood wooden blade from his sophomore(?) season) .
  7. Yeah, not to pile on or be a wise-ass, but shoulder pads primarily protect your shoulders. Maybe chest and back depending on the model. You could look into padded shirts that might have extra rib and side padding. Kinda sounds like you might need to work on some stretches and maybe core strengthening. That has really helped with my hip and knee and groin issues.
  8. To be fair demanding bauer respond specifically to your questions about the VT testing isn't all that far away from demanding that Bauer email you and explain why their helmets don't get better gas mileage. Its irrelevant and is largely lost time and money to bother address info that person by person.
  9. I'm a long time pm9 user, and occasional 88 user as pm9s become harder to find. I never, ever try new things. I find the marketing hype around the new blades particularly off putting. So, I gave a huge eyeroll the circle jerk of the e28 when it came out, and Easton's coining the term "dual lie," as if rockered blades hadn't been around for however many years. I bought a W28 last month to experiment a little. Maybe it's a hockey midlife crisis. I dunno. My wife works hard and makes good money, so I deserve to try new things. When I look at toe curves, they seem like a complete mess, and I don't know how pucks go in the net. But, actually using one, it wasn't a huge change. I think I got too caught up in one the toe looks like, and didn't look at the rest of the blade, which is relatively flat. My backhands are still mid level adult league backhands. Wrist shots still mostly go where I want them to, but knuckle on occasion, because I didn't turn my wrist much with other curves, but I'm working on that. I've never found any piece of equipment to be a huge game changer. I'm not suddenly firing lasers or rockets, throwing nasty sauce, or making sick dangles. I haven't had any more scouts than normal stop me after a pick up game and ask if I'm interested in a PTO contract. But, it's nice to know I have another option for curves. I think I actually like it better than 88 style curves, but I can't give a detailed description as to why.
  10. If it's an internet deal that seems too good to be true, jump on it immediately because it this Nigerian prince really does want to make you custom high end hockey sticks at a fraction of the price while simultaneous teaching you one weird trick to improve sex.
  11. The fact that almost every single person has highlighted a different "here is where to spend the most" proves that it's all personal preference. Don't buy the most expensive thing. Don't buy the least expensive thing. Do what makes you happy. You're gonna buy something you love and always return to, and buy something you hate and have to buy a new one of If you can, try things on in person and buy what is comfortable. If you can't try things on, find reasonable prices online and pray.
  12. Can you expand on this? I generally don't follow the "tech" in sticks because so much of it is made up words describing made up things. What is wrong with dagger tapers as compared to other low kick sticks?
  13. Ryan Spooner has been in Vebero gloves all of this season (well, at least his time in Boston), maybe even part of last season. He was the first NHL guy I saw in them.

How tall are the Tacks sticks? Do you have an idea of how stiff they feel? Is it the normal Tacks flex profile, or is it the LK that you see floating around?
  15. ...have switched to the new Jetspeed graphics, you mean. Unless you have access to their actual sticks (maybe you do, and I am being sassy for no reason).
  16. How many grams are Teslas and Apples? Can I get them in white with a huge tongue flop? I'm not worried so much about fit, but I don't want them to look dusty next to my Vapor Adv.
  17. Ever since I read multiple people complaining about it, and then saw it in person, I can't believe people aren't making an even bigger deal out of it. If this were Graf, people would be killing them for it, but I suspect since its Bauer they are getting a pass.
  18. "Only 3,000 made," only in p92 pattern. What is the typical total number of sticks made for a new 1x release, not lower tier options? Do they tend to make the same number of each pattern, or do they produce more p88s than pm9s?
  19. In case you aren't familiar with it, I'll save some other people the googling: http://www.carbonsportsllc.com/ It seems like the logical conclusion of the Reebok 9KO stick and Mylec Jet Flo blades. Someone buy one! You have nothing to lose but air resistance! (and money, and dignity...)
  20. People seem pretty underwhelmed by the FT1, and the initial Super Tacks got panned for blade durability issues. CCM had quite the resurgence and was everyone's darlings for a bit. Hopefully they can right the ship.
  21. As of the 2017 conference finals, Hagelin was still using a 20K stick. At least Eastons are readily available in stores.
  22. I guess, but something from 2010 hardly seems like "throwback." I never got the impression people were particularly taken with the AK27 or its graphics when it was readily available. #fakenostalgia And, it's downright confusing when they dress a retail lowkick stick (Alpha) as a retail midkick stick (AK27). I know Warrior doesn't currently have a true midkick stick, but it's like they are going out of their way to present it as something it's not.
  23. Posting pics in this thread with no tag line of what we are looking for should be a bannable offense.
