My 2 sets of steel are not identical. They have the same profile and hollow but since I had experimented with different profiles they're noticeably different to the eye (one seems pitched more fwd when I look side by side). With that being said, when I swap from one set to another I don't notice it after the first few strides (maybe one lap at most), after that it feels fine since it's pretty minor. I definitely wouldn't mix and match the 2 sets though, prob best to keep a set the same and swap both left/right if one needs to be swapped out.

I have a non Pro FT4 and an FT4 Pro "RY" pro stock, the RY is much lighter and feels a lot better than the non pro FT4. Being pro stock means the player has various options, these slight changes may add a few grams here and there too (like type of grip, blade construction, overall shaft length, etc.?) I'm just guessing on some of that but in the end 50 grams is just a little more than an average weight of beans for a cup of coffee so not a whole lot lol (I'm a coffee lover so I relate all gram measurements to coffee beans). My guess is RY might add some materials that will improve durability but at the cost of weight (since most teams that would order would be interested in durability).

From what I understand it's a team stick but not the team stick that's sold at retail, basically just a step below the advertised stick. I have some older Jetspeed FT3 Team sticks from before they started selling a "team" level at retail and they're good but not as light as the RY build FT4 Pro I have which is an awesome stick. It's a few grams heavier than a true FT4 Pro but nothing noticeable in my hands (still superlight). I've looked into it and like Cavs said, the RY build seems to be relatively new (maybe last year or two?) and is a top end team stick... if the price is good I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up

cage will be swappable as mentioned but eargaurds are usually unique to each helmet from what I've seen but I could be wrong, pretty quick and easy to try it out. Also, if you use that "insert image" option you can put the pics right in the post so nobody has to click on random links 😉

I'd guess the HK is Hybrid Kick, aka normal Jetspeed flex point. I have a few of the LK versions and they're great (used to use Triggers) but would've loved a Hybrid flex at that price point.

Looks like most of the gear is sold out, hasn't been updated in a long time. I remember looking back in the fall/winter and the same stuff was there and was sold out at that time too (I was always interested in trying their HPR elbows but they haven't had stock in ages). My guess is the Halo gloves were the last thing they produced and they're just selling off old stock of everything else now.

Wasn't top of the line from what I remember, might've been second tier during the One90 time frame. If you like "top elite level" stuff you should slide on down the rabbit hole of pro stock gear, definitely not cheap but you won't go back to retail lol.

I picked up some tent repair stuff that someone recommended on another thread a while back, I used it on my son's gloves since he tore up the fingers a but using them on the roller hockey rink. I was skeptical but hoponestly they held up really well, just a matter of finding the right color then cutting pieces the right size for the spot you're using it on. This is what I used: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006G1E3D2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

oooh that looks pretty rad, and yea I agree a water bottle holder would be clutch many times. I'm using an Eason Pro 15 backpack bag (which was then branded as Bauer Pro 15 before being discontinued from what I can tell). I love the backpack straps and how the Pro 15 is just a basic open bag, this Mix one (and the Alkali and Warrior mentioned above) seem neat with their compartments which might make it easier to walk with (with mine it's so long it hits the back of your thighs when walking so it can get annoying). Mine is presently starting to deteriorate so I'm curious how this Mix one works out, please keep us posted.

14" Warrior Covert ProStock - Jersey 3rd, $125 shipped

These are beauties at a great price, I just wish one of my many teams had this color scheme 🤦♂️🤣 they'll look great with the Summer Jam uniforms though. -
Yes to the blue holders, now that would look awesome.

As long as the front goes in first, the hook gets to the right spot, then you press the rear in and tighten down you should be god. When done correctly there's a small gap/notch in the rear where the blade meets the holder. If there's any gap up front then the hook might not have caught and the blade is not seated correctly. Here's the rear notch:

I'd try the Tacks line and Supreme, since those are both easily available, but also as mentioned, the SherWood ones look pretty nice if you can try a pair to try on. I like CCM's CL/RBZ/QuickLite/Jetspeed shoulder pads, I've had a few pairs over the years and they're a nice balance of protection, lightweight, and mobile (plus they fit my body well unlike some others I've tried such as Vapor and STX). For the most protection you'd want to stick to the top/second from the top models.

When Adidas took over from Reebok weren't they essentially the same company/different branches and wanted Adidas to be the apparel branch? Also weren't they both connected to CCM under the same parent company? CCM/Reebok merged back to just CCM for gear and Reebok changed to Adidas to apparel, or something like that? But all along basically the same corporation? Ok just checked, Adidas sold CCM in 2017 and actually just sold Reebok last year, so I guess Adidas making the uniforms was their last connection to NHL and the contract has run its course so they're out. CCM did it for the longest out of the modern brands from what I can remember (I can still picture my authentic Messier jersey from the early 90's with the embroidered CCM logo with NHL crest, that was a thing of beauty) so they'd be my guess as front runner, but who knows if they'd even want to do that again.

What is the equivalent of the CCM P30? (discontinued)
xstartxtodayx replied to Cosmic's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
It's more like a slightly less aggressive P28, less open, not as rounded at the toe, not max height but taller than a P28 and slightly less rockered (so not a "variable lie" or whatever term they coined for the P28, more like a standard 5.5/6). I never liked the size of the P29/92 or how it shot but being a P28 user the adjustment to P90TM was minimal. There's a couple threads that discuss it here and there but this one seems to have the most info: -
That link is to a shell so yes its compatible, pretty much any shell will fit any girdle. Just slide the shell up and tighten the belt. I have had Tacks shells, PP9K, PP90, Warrior, Bauer, Tackla.... they all work, some are designed for pants (they're usually slightly boxier and end at the belt), some designed for girdles like the one you linked to (usually a little slimmer and have extra material up top to cover the kidney guards on the girdle, some have a little extra padding in there some don't).
-
I say play with the St girdle a little more... I'm 5'9" so just a hair taller than you with a 31/32 waist and wear a medium Super Tacks girdle, I have the thigh pads adjusted to just about the -1" mark and they end just above my knee, if I dropped them down to the max (+2") they'd be well below my knees, so you might have more adjustment on there than you realize. As for the shell, the retail ST shell is height adjustable (waist has a zipper that will give some extra length), make sure that zipper is closed. Also the beauty of a girdle is being able to buy numerous shells to match various teams you may be on (or just to feed an addiction of buying pro stock shells 🤣).
-
I don't see why not. Last time I played roller (prob 15 years ago) I wore my girdle under my roller hokey pants, iirc roller pants are always on the baggier side anyways.

I believe the differences are adjustable legs and the adjustable spine pad, slightly more soft padding around the hip pad, and the fact the 7092 appears to be more of a wrap where as the ST is a step-in. The Jetspeed seems to be a hybrid of the ST and 7092, has adjustable thigh pads but a fixed spine pad. I know there were reviews of the 7092 and ST girdles on here but not sure about the Jetspeed.

I'd say less consistency between brands and even between models in the same brand are to blame. Different models have different "fit profiles" but, on the whole, I blame it on overall Quality Control just going downhill like most things now a days (insert old man Simpson yelling at cloud image here). Manufacturers just don't care about quality like they used to in so many industries, including hockey gear.
-
All depends on the player, some will go through new gloves regularly and others, like Marchand, will seemingly wear the same pair for years no matter how destroyed they are. From what I've noticed, many players have at least 2 pairs they rotate through between periods.
-
It ain't pretty but it does the job haha. I wasn't 100% sure about it so decided to sew the front one onto an old shinguard strap and attach to the bottom of the velcro area for the thigh pad adjustment. For the back I just picked an area a little to the side that looked like it would hold, so far so good. Only thing I would adjust is make the straps shorter since they sit low right now (have to roll the socks down a bit so they don't sag too much). A girdle is another option for hockey pants, sort of like naked hockey pants. Girdles are usually a little more form fitting so they move with you better and you need to wear a shell over them (this is a plus since you can have multiple shells for multiple teams you're on, this is also a negative because you can easily et addicted to buying pro stock shells lol). Girdles have been around for decades, prob since 70's at least I'd guess. They're less popular than regular pants for reasons I don't understand haha I've been wearing girdles since the 90's and have tried to go back to pants on a few occasions but always ditched them and came right back to the girdle (pants always felt too bulky and heavy to me). Super Tacks girdle:

From what I recall (I'm no expert so this may only be partially correct) the retail line has a "Team" level which is like mid tier, a few levels down from the top and available in all the usual curves/flexes where as the pro "team" line is made for college teams/junior teams to provide a more budget friendly option just a step or so down from the top of the line that is made to last a bit longer since they're made to be more durable. The pro team ones come in various corves and flexes but many come in a LK/low kick version so a Jetspeed might shoot more like a ribcor. I was on SLS before and there are a lot of the FT3 Team sticks under $100 still, honesty for the price they're a great stick.

Full lace up or drop the top eyelet ?
xstartxtodayx replied to noupf's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I lace to the top but skip the second eyelet from the top. I started this a while ago after skates started becoming much stiffer than they were in the 90's and I felt like I couldn't get enough flex (and skipping the top felt too loose), this method seemed to be the perfect option for me. There was a similar thread on here years ago where it was discussed, many pros use this method as well (Crosby is the one I can remember but I know I've seen others as well).
