I wore a d supreme and wear a fit 1 in machs. the cat pros I got made for me were made in a wide shell to accommodate my pinky toe. They fit fine but the only thing was that there was a lot more wrap after molding than say if I had a regular width. It was fine but it could create flexion issues for you as theres less "lace" that stretches a bit, and also make it even harder to get on and off.

Cat 7 is fiberglass. Cat 9 was carbon fiber. Totally different construction.

Rubber hone works fine for me to deburr pulse ti and step dlc after it's been sharpened on my sparx.... Unless you're talking about actual nicks

I had the original superfeet yellow prior to speed plates and found they were fine. But after speed plates I didn't like them, mainly because it had my heel sit too high up with the carbons. Haven't tried the comforts though, which seems like a softer version of the original yellow. I like a stiffer insole so I tried the carbon first. May eventually give the comfort a shot once I'm through my speed plate stash.

A banana blade would definitely be shorter of a radius than 10' imo. Since youre in New skates steel and profile id give it a lot more ice times. Maybe 12 hours to really get a feel for everything.

Nothing will replicate the trues. It's a totally diff build. Rock hard quarter with super thermo fromable facings. No other boot offers this. You can add all the padding you want with ccm and make it feel as close to true as possible but then you get into the territory of making them feel bulky which is what you are trying to avoid. I look at the ft6 pro and XF pro and they look huge. Like snow boots. Because of all the extra foams in them now. If you are chasing a more agile skate you technically want something with .ore flex and less padding so they are more streamlined. So really, Bauer. Lol. But I'm only speaking theoretically since I haven't worn ccms since the as1s.

Cat pros and svh were pretty much identical to me in terms of fit and feel. The cat pros didn't mold as much as the svh when heated up but still very thermo formable. It wasn't anything I noticed once the skate was molded but just by squeezing the boot right out of the oven, the svh was softer. I use the stretch wrap to bake all my skates even non trues as it gives me the best wrap and molding. The cat pros didn't feel anymore agile nor did I notice more flex as they advertise. They are still very stiff boots and stiffer than anything ccm or Bauer offers at retail. I wore them the same way as my svh which is dropping the top eyelet otherwise I felt like I was wearing casts. With my machs, I tie them all the way up. The cat pros just felt a bit lighter but everything else felt the same as the svh. Oh I will say with the cats I didn't feel as connected to the ice/edges. With svh I had to go down a hollow, with cat pros I went back up to my standard which I found odd. I love my machs. They fit perfect and I have no complaints. I tried the hyperlite 2s in the same fit and the toe box was about 1/4 size longer than the machs so it made me in between sizes at retail. Tried half size down but it was way too tight. Otherwise the hyperlite 2 felt decent aside from the irregular length.

The thing I notice about true skates is that they are so comfy yet so supportive and stiff. The comfort isn't compromised by the skate feeling too "softl/plush". I haven't tried the ft6 pro or XF pro but I would imagine with that much padding it'll eventually pack in and feel sloppy? And even if this doesn't happen I would imagine it feeling less locked in. You can correct me if I'm wrong. I'm using machs now and it's been very good for me in terms of balancing the comfort and agility. Not as comfy and connected as trues but the bit more agility I get from it, is worth the sacrifice for me. Even though the Mach isn't as comfy as the trues they're still very comfortable. With the route the supreme line has gone with the shadow, I can see myself going back to trues in the future.... The one thing I really liked about trues is that I never had to fiddle with lacing tension. Once molded, they were set and the laces were tied with barely any tension.

You guys find the hollow for skatescribe a bit interesting? The edges don't feel as sharp as traditional sharpenings (by touching with your fingers/fingernail). But also if you look closely you can see faint horizontal lines on the hollow which traditionally on regular hand sharpenings is considered a no no. But skating on it feels completely fine. I know it's a completely different method of sharpening so traditional rules don't really apply.

This is a good guess. There are still ppl who think it's fine to leave their gear, especially skates inside their car in the summer. They can learn the hard way.

Saw these in person. They look good. Visually I couldn't tell the difference between the 9 and 7s carbon fiber shell. Looked the same to me but there's a difference according to people on here and the catalogue. 7 is definitely a good deal for a carbon composite shell. Love the blackout look of the 9s though.

Same experience with me. Mainly with the hyperlites feeling about 1/4 size longer bc of the different toecap.

Ya I figured the Velcro was stuck on like that since there's no stitching. It'll definitely eventually peel. Stitching probably doesn't hold up on that material either. Imo they should have the tongue wrapped in a lightweight material where the Velcro patch can be sewn on but I guess that takes away at the cool appearance of the 3d tongue. Did they say how much the tongue was? Edit: on the true site choosing the 3d tongue is $99 cdn more. So if they do sell it separately it'll be easily upwards ot $200.

I get raising the prices but $400 more cdn is a lot. Having a quarter package material where the damage doesn't spread is key. Ie curv composite and Fors composite (from what I've seen).

What's the weight difference between the 7 and 9? Without insoles. Also with the 9, do you choose what arch height you want for tht insoles or do they come with two?

Ya agreed. Just something that would be nice. I mean tried has swappable tongues on their retail skates and they don't offer any choice either.

They would've had more success if people were able to choose which tongue they wanted when purchasing the skates new, just like selecting what steel... But to have to spend another $100 bucks for a tongue you like and be stuck with the stock one seemed like a deterrent to me. At least true makes decent tongues and I've successfully created a Velcro system on some Bauers to accept true tongues. Did it for a pair of Bauers that I converted to inlines as the stock tongues on those were shot.

I'd get the 7 because I hate the genetix insoles and their dlc is meh. Get the 7 with some jrz black seel and the insoles of your choice (for me speed plates). But with that said I'm not a fan of the blue accents on the 7. Btw are the custom tailored option no more for the new catalyst line? Seems like they got rid of it with the 9x4 being even more expensive than the cat pros were.

Can't yu get them online? I'm sure stores that had the in stock still have them until they sell out.
