  1. When I switched to trues I noticed a big difference in how I could feel the ice so much better on the bottom of my feet. I felt every bump on the ice. Made me way more aware of my edges
  2. After your asking for a specific hollow?
  3. Skates are one thing where if it don't break why fix it. Skates are the biggest pita to break in even with customs. Now try introducing a completely diff boot construction to nhl players who notice the smallest things in terms of difference. Even pro gloves are no where near retail ones and are very very basic in terms of materials and design.
  4. I'm not sure if it's sewn on separately or whether if you remove the stitching of the overlay, it'll dismantle part of the palm. I'm sure others would know. I'm not a fan of some overlays as well. Esp ones they aren't clarino or the same material as the rest of the palm.
  5. That's pretty unfortunate... Takes away how s skate is custom ..
  6. For starters , he should wear his orthotics in his shoes.... But the end goal would be to fix his supination and ultimately not have to use the orthotics.
  7. Ya it's probably like this at all levels in different sports too. The mentality of If it isn't broken don't fix it. But like you said w pro level, maybe mention the idea and let him decide whether he wants to play with the idea during off season training etc. If you think about it, the pronation or supination could be caused by years of hockey in I'll fitting boots or their skating form vs the player having this outside of hockey and then adapting to it when skating. At some point, biomechanic testing etc will be so common every player will be accustomed to a full analysis etc. I'm sure it happens now but just not as mainstream... and not at such a early age for players in their teens.
  8. Oh well. Just change the holders. If I were to get stock Trues I'd swap em out for xs holders anyways. Even with customs id just have them predrilled for xs holders and the shift holder unmounted
  9. It's weird to think there wasn't much room to get a holder one size up to fit since the boot itself should technically be about the same as as your previous skates. Going half a size down in trues would only mean their boots are overrated for it's size .. which confuses me why their size 6.5 skates require a 254 holder if in theory their 6.5 is the same length as ccm or Bauer 7 which uses a 263 holder
  10. Now I have all three fits from CCM... Not in picture is the ccm 4r pro2 These are the 9080 tacks and ft390. Didn't feel like paying 60+ dollars for the as1 and ft1 when, imo, these second tier are more or less the same. Of the three fits I feel the jetspeeds fit the best for me. All are very comfortable though.
  11. Oh you're totally right. I was just suggesting why there are some ppl who wear skates 2 sizes smaller in skates and some 1.5. The huge discrepancies are 🤔. And you're totally right about the shoe size being a bad guide bc of diff manufacturers, and the fact that a lot of ppl also wear shoes that are the wrong size/ have a diff preference of how they want their shoes to fit.
  12. It depends on which is your longest toe. Those who have a second toe that's longest will fit into a diff size than those with a big toe that's longer, bc if you look at the toe cap it's rounded. For example a person who's a size ten bc their big toe is the longest, is different than someone who fits a size ten because their second toe is the longest. The big toe will brush the toe cap in the area where it starts to curve. Second toe longest will brush the toe cap where it's leveled off at its longest distance from the heel. That's prob why there's some discrepancy where some ppl go down anywhere from 1.5-3 sizes in skates. It all has to do with which longest toe brushes which part of the toe cap vs in their shoes, and the tow box area of skates are quite diff than shoes.
  13. Is this the p92c? So what's the deal with this pattern?
  14. Could it be due to sweat? I found in the past if I got pretty sweaty the liners of my trues wouldn't wick away the sweat and would cause it to feel slippery especially in combination with dri fit type socks. Maybe try 100% cotton socks which absorb and not really wick sweat so it doesn't cause a layer of sweat between the socks and liner. I know the tf7 comes with a wick liner but it's all I can think of esp since you said it was fine during the first part of the skate. Also, loosening of the laces could be the issue too. Btw did you just spot heat the area causing you issues to fix it?
  15. Lie should be the same if both are p29... U can also put them next to each other just to be sure though. They are diff kick point sticks with diff blade technology so maybe that has to do with the difference on feeling ?
  16. Isn't the makos .5 smaller than ccm and true. For example isn't it recommended to get an 8 mako when you're a 7.5 Bauer or ccm. So if that's true, then wouldn't it mean the trues are the same as ccm and Bauer.
  17. How the hell do they know at the assembly line what size is what then??? Are u able to confirm whether my theory of s08-7 means 7.5 and therefore the true size 7 would be s07-7 or similar.. or address the number codes identical
  18. So the 7.5 shows 7?
  19. What do the stickers say on your skates, specifically the 7.5. I'm interested to see if it actually should say 7.5. If so, then @jrchecker8def for a size 8 with an 8.5 tongue If half sizes are around 5mm longer, it COULD be why the 8.5 feels a bit too short and the 9 feels a bit too long if he's in between half sizes.... Since half sizes should be 3-4mm different.
  20. The regular foam for padding is red. The same thickness and material as the red footbed which is 1-2mm max. The grey toe box inserts are thicker and one adjusts for .5 size (approx 3mm) For my true customs my left skate doesn't have the insert but my right does since it's .5 size smaller. Not a huge deal but I also don't understand why true does this. Each boot should be true to the foot size and unless your feet are so far off it causes u to have two diff holder sizes on each. But even if this were the case you could technically have an oversized holder for the smaller boot so both end up with the same holder size. What's weird though, is my right boot is about half a size shorter in length. I measured it and also you can tell the holder on the right comes up a few mms closer to the end of the toe. Oh well. Whatever. I should just be happy that I have no issues with my skates and they fit perfect.
  21. Fair enough, but I wouldn't be trying to do things like pull out foam to try to increase the length of the skate. I'd return both and re order another 8.5 to confirm whether the skate he has is mislabeled or that for whatever reason, the size discrepancy between the 8.5 and 9 seems more like a full size diff.
  22. Are you not at all able to go to a store to get try them on? Personally I'd return both at this both and start from scratch.
  23. I'm thinking does s09-8 mean size 9 but made to fit like 8.5? For example size 10.5 would say s11-10 How does the size 9 sticker look like.
