Make sure you close your eyes when the new Bauer helmet arrives...$230 will seem like a good price.

$230 to $250 isn't a big jump. Thank god Easton didn't release the E800 a couple years ago - you guys would have crapped yourselves.

Yes looked like three tabs from them.

Yea I posted that on Facebook...looks like Poron from a RE-AKT?

is there a particular point to pros blacking out the blade or just cause they like the look?

Do you mean the stick-blade or the skate-blade? For skate blades, there is coated black steel (BlackEdge, Step BlackSteel, ...) available that is supposed to protect your edge.

You're right, sorry. MAP and what they'll sell for are different things though. That's honestly probably the max I would pay for my kids, Re-akt is still a great helmet, and I would have to be sold on the re-akt 100 I think.

Re-Akt 100 helmet is supposed to MAP at $270 and combo at $310.

If you've got enough zeroes on the check, anything is for sale.

Been meaning to post this for a while but since it's true for the Rangers too it's time to do it.

Every player on the Kings and Rangers are using the Tuuk Edge Holder except, St. Louis and Regehr ( custom plus and cobra).

Pretty impressed that this product has been accepted so quickly, I know it's the trainers pushing this but still impressive considering how many players don't like change.

You know, I thought the exact same thing yesterday morning, while getting ready for work.

But that's how a product gets accepted - the EQMs have to believe in it.

I guess any negatives there may be with the holder are FAR outweighed by the ability to swap a blade on the bench.

At the pro level it makes a lot of sense, I just don't know that it makes sense for 99% of youth or recreational players. With the patent on the shape, they will sell a lot more replacement steel now that nobody else can make it for their skates and I would be that was as much of a driving force as anything else.

You forgot Benoit Pouliot (E-Pro) and Kevin Klein (LS2).

Usually it's the other way around.

However, there is the mail-order factor as well as carrying a spare set if you're on the road and playing competitive hockey.

That makes the most sense to me, from a consumer standpoint. Some players really trust their home sharpener, and it makes things much easier before going away, as was the case today with a player I helped.

What's funny is that the home sharpener that one guy trusts is the road shop that someone else doesn't.

For rec players, I see more value performance-wise in the fact that the holder is taller and not necessarily the ability to swap steel quickly.

Just because of the tighter turning radius, or is there more to it than that?
