Best bang-for-your buck sticks (2014)

Recommended Posts

Inspired by my recent purchase of a Sherwood T-90 (after hearing great reviews here and elsewhere) after breaking three sticks this summer. Amazing stick for the price. What are some other favorites? Closeouts can be included.

big fan of Nexus 1000 ($180-200 range on closeout)

I think all the companies have stepped up their $99-$119 price point sticks. I like the feel of the Nexus 4000 and RBZ 80.

Well, it's not a 2014 stick, but I bought it in 2014- Warrior Diablo. Got it for about $100 on HM (normally it was I think like $200). Pretty solid stick, like it better than my old Easton EQ.

Lots of very good mid price points available now. I've always been a fan of close outs and pro stocks but they can be hard to find.

Walking in a store right now the CCM 5052, Warrior DT3LT, True 4.5 or Nexus (forget which model number) would all be solid choices.

dt3lt is very impressive considering it can be purchased for sub 100 due to sales etc. I would say bang for your buck wise, that's my tops atm.

I'm really impressed with the Reebok 25k. $150 but you get a helluva stick. Or for the same price get a base Savoy special, much more curve, flex etc... options than retail

+1 for the EK15 from Sherwood, I have heard rumors and whispers of finding it for as low as 150$, but I know for sure that one of my LHS has had it at $169.99 which I would say is a great deal. Current top end stick for $200..... :) Current top end stick for less than $200.......

OH YEAH! :D

Easton Pro Stocks on sale for $140ish. @ HM. Even less with a discount code and bought in bulk.

I'm not very confident these are pro stocks, they seem more like factory rejects. I bought two and the toe split/broke on the first one in like 3 hours of ice time. I went and looked at the reviews and a number of other people seem to be having the same problem. I emailed HM and they essentially admitted that the blade on their "area 51" pro-stocks sucks from a durability standpoint.

I have 1 hour of icetime on the second one, I'll let you know if i run into the same problem.

Well that sucks..... I can say mine have all been pretty good so far. Keeping my fingers crossed.

My DT4LT has been an amazing surprise. I picked it up as a backup/pickup game stick and it quickly became my favorite stick. Several months of 1-2 games a week and while it is battered and chipped, it is still going strong. I'd always been a proponent of buying sticks from the previous year's release and staying away from low to mid level sticks, but the DT4LT really impressed me.

If you like Warrior top end sticks, it's hard to beat a Diablo on sale at HM for bang for your buck. I'd stay away from the Widow (blade durability was and still is horrible) and for a recent top end mid kick stick the ax1 is a stunner. I've had one for nearly a year, have smacked the heck out of it at least 5 times a week on ice and it's still going strong. I was talking to a guy who used to work at HG and he said it, in terms of returns, was one of the most reliable sticks Warrior has made for a long time.

I love my Covert DT3LT, it feels much lighter than the 2-piece setups I was used to, it feels well balanced to me, & it kicks well on my wrist shots.

If you want value and consistency most $99 and $150 price points offer a lot of bang for the buck. Going for last generation models will get you performance and weight savings for $100-$200 depending on sales/coupons but flex & curve selection dwindles. Prostocks around $150 are best for current top performance but consistency and exactly knowing what the stick is, is a crapshoot.
