Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener
IPv6Freely replied to tamtamg's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Man those are $280-ish. I think for the price difference I’d just go with the Sparx case. Not even so much for the machine, but so the accessories fit perfectly too. -
Wait, what did you have on under your stripes before? Just a short sleeve t-shirt? Depending on the level (and therefore how much you're having to move) I'd probably be going with lighter or heavier base layer under-armor style shirts. Just make sure the logo isn't visible at your neck. Yes, Official's registration is totally a separate thing. Since you're (probably) too late to take a seminar (there may still be some running but most are in the fall), I think I'd wait for the next season to start up before paying.

I think it's more likely that any carelessness with their stick is because the average beer leaguer never played high level hockey. Much more so than the fact that people have cages. I can't speak for everyone, but personally I don't really want to clip somebody in the face regardless of whether they have a cage or not, so I'm no more and no less careful regardless of what somebody is wearing. In fact, the protection somebody has on their face has absolutely no bearing on what I do on the ice. Probably because I suck at hockey and am looking down at the puck the entire time...

Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener

I do 2 or 4 passes before every game. Quite excessive obviously, but being a goalie I have a lot of nicks from the posts I have to try to get out. It IS great for me, now that you mention it! Wouldn't surprise me. That would be an interesting thing to document. Mine are 3/8 and like I said, on Step black steel. -

My Step Blacksteel doesn’t burr at all. I just wipe with a towel and I’m done. -

At the time I was still going to noicing for sharpening (would never use them now though) and I just had them do a “slight negative”, if I recall correctly. It helped a ton. -

I felt the same in Makos. Way too much on my toes. I had them profiled and it was never a problem again. Maybe you’d be a good candidate for the MSH Prosharp project! -
That's the foam that CCM uses on their shoulder pads, for example.

I just watched a youtube video of Al's greatest insults. I was dying laughing. My wife was not.

February was the only month of the year without a long weekend. So obviously it makes sense to create one for no reason 🙂 -
Not yet, but will be doing so tomorrow. That said, I tweeted a photo to Jared Keeso of me eating tacos after hiking outside LA. It seemed so appropriate.

Are both 1 and 2 being caused by the skates, or were they prior issues? 1 - yes 2- possibly, worth a try. -

Probably only option is contacting True as you've already done. Maybe call their customer service? They're probably overwhelmed by people emailing them asking for status instead of their LHS -

Finally CCM has caught up to everyone else. Slightly amusing they’d have Price model it since he doesn’t wear CCM skates.

On another note, I actually like the one Vladdy is sporting. Lets you use any shield you want or are used to, and you just add the chicklets protector in addition. It's ugly AF but may be a better option than a combo for the guys who are used to wearing just a visor.- 26 replies

Interesting they don't do the full poly mask for adults anymore. Their original mask was GREAT. Their second version fogged up like crazy. And now they only have the combos. Nice to see they're increasing the shield size on the Zero Plus though. The current version is tiny. Still think I'll stick with a cage though.- 26 replies

The alignment tool comes with it. The edge checker doesn't. -

And that's totally fine. Rob went out of his way for me when I first got my VH back in the day, too (granted there was no LHS middle-man at that point). But expecting long detailed messages from their customer service is probably a bit of a stretch. Just use a bit of common sense, like it appears you are in your case. Some others aren't so much.
