  1. That's great, you'll have the best form in the senior home. 😉 Before barking at the OP about this that and the other, how about asking him what he's looking to get out of it. Not everyone is training to play the Soviets. Again, it's the practicality of that route for a player his age. It's entirely possible to skip all that and just have fun. Great skater or not, we all end up in the same place, local beer leagues. Ask yourself, is all that really worth it.
  2. There are plenty of us out there who never payed a lick of attention to that stuff and get along just fine. Again, I'm not dismissing it. Just doesn't seem all that practical for an older player who's probably only on the ice once or twice a week. It's fair to interpret my analogy anyway you like, that's wasn't how I intended it.
  3. Look, biomechanics, off ice training, no laces...all that stuff is great. It's definitely something I would steer my young son or daughter to. However, those learning the game at an older age don't have time for that. Frankly, it's all a bit extreme for an older player who just want to lace em up and go for a rip. For a player in the OP's position, a proper fitting skate that won't hinder his stride should be priority #1. And while I don't wish to go into here. To say that skate fit and all that is irrelevant is pretty short sighted. Correct your form on crap skates is like racing slicks on a Pirus...
  4. Who's to say there is an ideal stiffness? Sure there are some basic guidelines as to who should be in what. Mostly it's what the player prefers.
  5. Gee, flip13 disagrees me...there's a shocker. Let me dumb it down for everyone. In the orginal pic of Nylander he looks a lot like Pasta, enough so to warrant a snarky remark, which I provided. Not sure why that got everyone's panties in a bunch. And yes, William and David are friends. It's pretty well documented.
  6. It's not the number, they actually look alike. Being friends makes it even weirder.
  7. The scan is not the end all be all of fitting. The scanner may suggest one thing but the player may be more comfortable in another. Did you spend any time in them after you were scanned?
  8. When did David Pasternak sign with the Leafs...
  9. All mine say 40, that includes 3 different hollows and one Fire.
  10. You can't be serious, in a cast for about a month and you expect to be playing one day after the cast comes off....
  11. I think point being made is as you sharpen you change the width and alter the angle of the blades. You're essentially grinding away the gains.
  12. The old Nike/Innovative asymmetrical shaft is back.
  13. One way to find out. Lower the wheel and check the spring tension by hand. Raise it up and see if you feel a difference. The difference you hear could be debris on the ring after hitting the toe.
  14. This is my understanding as well. Which was confirmed by someone who works there.
  15. If the shop pooched the mount. They should be pick up the cost of shipping. They made the mistake not you.
  16. Rip it in half. Put the straggley end towards the grip instead of the end, you'll never notice.
  17. That's why I said, last I checked, which was back when the holder was first released. At the time I could only find CCM replacement steel.
  18. Last I checked the only steel available for the XS holder was stock CCM steel. CCM has a history of making shitty steel. That said, I wouldn't move to the XS holder until STEP or Tydan started offering replacement steel. It did suck having to stick with Bauer steel for the Edge holder.
  19. I empty the tray and vacuum it out every few weeks. Depends on how much it gets used. My every few weeks might be someone else's weekly thing.
  20. Yes, I have had that exact thing happen. The chip in the ring wasn't active. No hack, they replaced it.
  21. I've played around a bit with the Fire rings. Mixed results really. First off, nothing at all like a Blackstone FBV. Coming from a 3/4ROH I found the 3/4 Fire did not have the same level of grip as the 3/4ROH. I switched to the 5/8 Fire which felt fairly close to my 3/4ROH. So if you want a Fire ring that's close to your regular hollow, I suggest going one step sharper. So if you're using a 5/8ROH, get a 1/2 Fire. My advice would be to dial in what ROH works then make the switch to a Fire ring....remember to go one step sharper. I'd start with a 5/8ROH.
  22. When you find something you like...well, you know. From top to bottom 4 Pro-Stock Nexus 2016 1N's 82 flex P28's, 2 clear (DeAngelo) & 2 grip (NCAA) 1 Pro-Stock Alpha QX 75flex P28, (EK65, T8 build)
  23. I believe Tydan and Bionic are the only ones. Could be more that I am not familiar with though.
  24. If you're off at say the heel, you should be off the same amount at every point on the blade. The carriage position is fixed as is the blade placement. So there is no way it can ride from left edge to right edge. I could be wrong, but thats how I understand it. Also keep in mind that most steel is punched. So it's not perfectly flat. If it's not perfectly flat, using the above method may give you a false reading.
  25. You can reach in and move the alignment wheel closer to the alignment tool by simply pushing up on the wheel.
