Gotta work on those cankels. 😆

I've only ever seen the in game coaches interviews during NBC games. The local Bruins broadcast talks with an assistant between the 2nd and 3rd periods. BTW, when are we going to get a SC thread? Id do it myself but I'm not allowed.

Steel: STEP ST 246mm Hollow: ¾ ROH About me: Skating in general has never really been an issue. I’ve always been able to get to where I need to be. I started skating a young and grew up on a lake, so plenty of ice time in the winter. There are some aspects of my skating that could be better. I have had issues with decreased agility and lack of overall stability in the past. Normally I rotate two sets of steel. The first set is stock Bauer LS4 profiled to a Quad 0 by Shayne from Pro Sharp, the second is stock STEP Edge. When I started this program I purchased a set of Tydan from the pro shop here at MSH. The stock STEP profile is my control set. Review: I’ve spent more time on this profile than any other, except maybe my control set. I’ve been using the Quad 0 since before this project began. I had been on my new skates for about six months. Coming from a larger skate with a bigger holder, I missed some that extra steel on the ice. Dropping down in size had a positive impact on mobility and acceleration but the shorter steel lacked the overall speed and stability I got with the longer steel. I ended up talking with JR about possible profiles. He put me in tough with Shayne from ProSharp (we live in the same town). When I tried the quad 0, every aspect felt better. Getting in and out of turns was easier, front to back transitions were easier, I felt more agile in tight spaces and overall straight line speed was increased. I demo’d some other profiles that day. Everything felt better than a stock profile yet nothing felt quite as good as the quad 0. The quad 0 is like a catch all. It does a lot of things really well and seems to appeal to a lot of different players. Mobility: 4 Stability: 3 Speed: 3 Acceleration: 4 Other profiles on deck: 9 | 50mm | 10.5

So when your team plays the Maple Leafs, you cool with the on ice official calling the office in Toronto? If I'm honest, I have a bit of a problem with that. Coaches challenges can't be penalized with a 2 minute penalty. If I am coaching, I never make that call because I dont want to put my team down a man. Taking away the teams TO and putting the faceoff in their defensive zone is more realistic. Honestly, if the refs were better at their jobs and took a less black and white (no pun intended) approach things would be better.

How about getting rid of video replay all together... Go to coaches challenges instead. I'm against anything that will slow the game down and video replay slows things down. The game survived for decades without it. Not sure why we suddenly need it and more of it.

And we're on to the finals. 😁

Steel: Tydan Edge 246mm Hollow: ¾ ROH About me: Skating in general has never really been an issue. Review: I spent roughly 4+ hours on this profile. All of which was either mens league or pickup, no public skating this time around. Transitioning from my control steel to the quad 1 was fairly easy, no real adjustment period needed. My initial reaction was “this seems long” but it really didn’t play that way. I was able to get in and out of my turns with ease. Getting off the line and moving around in tight spaces was very fluid. The only time they actually felt longer was when I transitioned from forward to backwards. The larger (or longer) heel was somewhat noticable. Overall the added stability and top end speed was a nice add. Especially since I didn't have to sacrifice in other areas to get it. In comparison to the quad 0 I’ve been using. The quad 1 played a lot like the quad 0, just longer on the back side and the numbers bear that out. Quad 0 = 6’, 9’. 11’, 13’. The Quad 1 = 6’, 9’. 12’, 15’. Mobility: 4 Stability: 4 Speed: 4 Acceleration: 4 Other profiles on deck: 9 | 50mm | 10.5 Quad 0 I reserve the right to change/alter/modify my scores based on further testing

And he's getting hammered for it. It was a dick move by a dick morning show host. Let's be careful not to perpetuate the problem. Back on topic. Carolina finally meets a team that's ready to play and willing to do what it takes to win a cup. Bruins in 5.

Great game....what a series. Hats off to the Blue Jackets. They played a hell of a series. As for the McAvoy hit. I'm ok with the 2. Anderson wasn't hurt on the play and I don't think McAvoy was headhunting.

Not sure if you're trying to be a d**k or not, but that's twice now. Here's the thing. Do you data whores actually understand the cost and complexity involved in supporting an opinion counter to that of VT's? Seriously, you ask for data knowing the chances of someone here having the means to provide that data is slim. The data you are providing is not even your own. It's the easy side of the argument bucause you don't need to prove shit. You can point to someone's elses work and say "see they did it". Lazy ass engineering. Many professionals question VT's results yet you (and others) are arguing it like it's law. Which I find comical seeing how they can't actually say helmet X reduces concussions. In their words, not mine... "Helmets with more stars provide a reduction in concussion risk compared to helmets with less stars." So all this BS and all they are doing is reducing risk. They aren't preventing shit. FWIW, if someone questions the results of a test and the manner in which those results were achieved. You can't use said results to make your point. Those very results are what's in question.
-
In basic terms, here are my issues 1) I don't believe VT test conditions account for fit. Do they use multiple head dummies or one generic one? A less than optimal fit could lead to a lower score. 2) I don't get the sense their test conditions correlate well to actual game play. Results in a controlled lab are one thing, real on ice studies are another. 3) You don't need to hit your head to be concussed. So all this data is irrelevant at that point. 4) Safety ratings can give one a false sense of security. "I don't have to worry about head shots, I have a 5 star rated helmet". "How did Billy get a concussion, we bought him a 5 star rated helmet".

It depends on how you use it. If you sharpen and use them until they are dull, the Step would likely require some extra passes. If your maintaining an edge, then no.

I believe that chart is FBV to ROH not Fire. I normally skate on a 3/4 ROH. When I switched to the Fire ring I went 3/4. They did not feel the same or even close. I had to drop down to the 5/8 Fire to get the same grip I got with the 3/4 ROH. So rule of thumb when switching to a Fire ring, drop down (aka go sharper) to maintain comparable grip to your ROH. Probably been mentioned. The Sparx Fire is nothing like a Blackstone FBV. It's closer to Blademasters version of the Flat Bottom.
-
I can gather a ton of data under the strictest of guidelines and present it manner that appears to be unquestionable. It doesn't mean the data is good or even valid. VT openly admits that their rating system will not prevent the likely hood of suffering a concussion. So why do people put so much faith in it...

I knew the Leafs series was going to be trouble. I mean they took you to game 7 last year and added Tavaras. This one's a little different. This one will come down to depth and goaltending. Boston in 6. Just think they are better suited for a series like this and are more experienced.
-
Don't confuse durability with normal game wear. It's not really something you can measure. One person may be fine, the next not so much.
-
it's more like the toe of the blade chipping, still usable and no real signs that the stick is going to break. Once it breaks it's no longer a functional piece of equipment. I'm assuming your skates are still fully functional.

Clearly the OP is not happy with his or her AS1's. At this point I believe he or she is just looking for an excuse to ditch them. Filing a warranty claim on an item that was damaged during play is screwing CCM for something they had noting to do with. This is not a manufacturing defect...hell its not even a durability issue. You want to know why sticks and skates are so expensive and why smaller companies don't last, here you go. Encouraging that without even seeing a pic let alone the actual skate itself....wow.
-
Curious to hear what CCM says about a warranty claim on a hockey skate that was damaged during a hockey game.
-
They're fine. I wouldn't even worry about it. As for the softening, that's what skates are supposed to do as they break in.

When Did You Get Bored With Acquiring New Hockey Gear?
stick9 replied to beerleaguecaptain's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
@bunnyman666 These the mitts in question? -
Warrior pro bag here. One of the small mesh pockets is ripped at the bottom. Other than that it's in great shape and I air travel with my gear twice a year. Been using it since the fall of 2015.
