  1. I think I got to a point where everything was comfortable and protective so why change. This crap ain't cheap. At some point you say, new elbow pads would be nice, but not $150 nice. These days, I tend to buy out of need rather than want. I did however treat myself to a new helmet (Tacks 710). I just wanted a new one. Nothing overly exciting. I still have a soft spot for sticks, gloves and skates. If you took the cost out of it. I'd probably have a wall of sticks a half dozen pairs of gloves and a couple pairs of skates.
  2. Never experienced that. I would make sure the ring is fully seated and seated evenlly. A side by side with a known good ring give you a clue as to what might be wrong.
  3. Consider the Jetspeed pants. It's a tighter fit all around, like slim fit jeans.
  4. Umm, the internet... 😁 Seriously though. There are a fair amount listed on Sideline.
  5. Maybe I am reading this wrong. The difference between LS2 and LS2.1 is not the grade of steel or even the profile. It's the length of the runner.
  6. More so, why would someone pluck down the cash for something they don't like or don't believe in.... As to the point about adjustments. When you buy skates that are sold to you as being custom made to your feet. Dosn't that come with the impression or a certian level of confidence they will fit perfectly, if not, shouldn't it? I mean, what's the point of buying them if they have to be "adjusted", "tweaked" or "dialed in"? If they do require work afterwards, are you really getting what you paid for? Isnt it fair to question that? This is the problem with offering something like this to the masses. How many people actually need custom made skates opposed to those who want them simply because it's unique...
  7. Funny thing is. I am a big advocate for unwaxed laces because they have a bit of give to them. I don't need waxed laces in the traditional sense. The 1X injected lacing has a locking feature and I am only pulling them tight at the top. Appreantly that little bit of give was enough for my foot to move forward a little.
  8. I would definitely describe the fit on my 1X's as a "pro fit". I've experienced some sore toes from the close, tight fit. I've found socks can be problematic. The seam is a huge factor. I've had some punching done to widen the area and swtiched to waxed laces to better hold my foot back in the boot. Problem solved....for me.
  9. I agree, the edge holder thing is a bit over stated. If I am honest, the biggest drawback has been using Bauer steel. Fortunately Step can be had via eBay now and Tydan can be purchased right here from the MSH pro shop.
  10. @smu don't sweat it. A couple of things might help. 1) if you you want to connect with a member directly, use the private message function. 2) posts on forums are best when they are direct and to the point. Skip the story, just give us the details. 3) if you need to reference your initial post, don't type it out again, just link it. Again, direct and to the point.
  11. I agree....sort of. However. 1 The thread has become so decisive where certain people will not read it, thus not contributing. Some of those members are experienced fitters who could add a great deal to the conversation. That's actually a negative. 2 The thread is so massive you can't possibly read through it to find an answer or the info you seek. 3 The polarizing nature of the thread in my opinion is not a good look for product, the brand or the site itself. 4 Locking it down doesn't mean it goes away. If it were up to me, I'd lock, start a new one linking the old one and set some guidelines as to what goes where, maybe a catch all custom skate thread is where it's at.... 5 I think members would be better served bring their True questions to the general public. They'd get more input from a broader ranger of members and knowledge bases. It would cut back on the bickering and pom-pom waving. Again, it's not up to me. Just thinking out loud. There is one tiny little thing that irkes me. Why do some True owners feel the need to carry water for the company? Look through other threads. Anytime there is a fit question, you'll get a few True owners posting "get Trues". They aren't answering the question asked or taking into account the context in which it was asked.
  12. It's not up to me, but I think the time is near.
  13. A lot of what goes on here is not exclusive to True, like fit issues, and would probably be best served in another thread where it get the attention it deserves. The problem with this thread is to polarizing so some just stay away. This thread had some merit back when things transitioned from VH to True. Now with True and the process being fairly mainstream the need really isn't there. There isn't a separate thread for other brands or models, so why True....
  14. It's not just females or younger players. I know more than a few adult males of average height and weight wearing skates smaller than a size 6, myself being one.
  15. Maybe they view eyelets like laces, replaceable. It doesn't sound like they save a lot per skate. If you factory in all skates across all lines. Its probably a decent chunk of change for them.
  16. I saw some 70k's on sideline done up the same exact way. You may want to hit him up for royalties.
  17. Dave is definitely on the mark here. A great room can make even the worst game or season worth it. I played on a team that was pretty toxic. The guys were good, but there was quite a bit of drama surrounding some players moving on. It wasn't fun, neither was my role (just chip it out and go for a change). I really didn't want to play so I know where you're coming from. Finding a group you truly enjoy playing with is important.
  18. How about a Coaches Corner or a Ask the Coach thread - Essentially a dedicated thread where players of all ages can pop in and ask questions and get answers from guys who actually coach the game. I'd suggest coaches in this section would need to be vetted and mod approved. With all the home sharpeners, maybe an updated DIY thread focused on things like sharpening and profiling might be a nice add. A beer league section. Members can share experiences, share ideas for uniforms and problem solving. Now I know many of these things already exist, but they are spread out in different sections and aren't pinned. Some of the threads have great info but are hard to find, like the shop locator for example.
  19. I was about to ask, good thing I searched. The CT800 is said to be a true one piece design weighing in at 419 grams. Those are elite type numbers. My question is how do they compare to elite level sticks of a few years ago, say 1st gen Tacks, early Nexus 1N's or Supremes? Better yet, how do they compare to pro-stocks? I'm seeing them cheaper than $149 on sideline. Might have to experiment for myself.
  20. I won't argue the point, just saying thats not what I have been told. I had to guess, the change in sound and finish could be due to the wheel removing more material when making contact higher up. The sound and texture could be that excess material being stuck to the wheel early on in the pass. To me an increase in pressure or force to the blade would cuase you to experience those things for the entire length of the first pass. Again, don't want to argue the point as I am only the middle man.
  21. Hmm, gonna have to check that out. I knew how it hit the toe would be affected but was fine once it got to the flat. @colins No change in pressure applied to the steel by adjusting the height. I confirmed that with someone on the inside.
  22. Correct, the height adjust simply sets where the wheel makes contact with the toe/heel. There is no change in the pressure applied to the blade during sharpening. As it's been explained to me. Due to the natural shape of the blade, sharpening with the toe to the right allows you to set the height higher and sharpen further up the toe. If you're curious, manually move the wheel to just before it would make contact with the steel in both directions. Either way, it does not affect the actual sharpening. You're still getting two passes per cycle.
  23. Maybe yes, maybe no. In the end it's True's product on his feet and their reputation. They gave the shop the tools and the training to use it and they built the skates. They can do right by then customer then put pressure on the shop to get their crap together. @smu I can't tell you how to handle the situation, that's up to you. Im fairly certain you are entitled to some relief. Paying full price for this disaster is a flat out screw job.
  24. Holy shit, you paid for an holder swap that True screwed up in the first place. Not only that, they screwed up your skates once, they tried to band-aid fix the same pair with foam and masking tape. Honestly, you're getting screwed. True and your LHS should be eating the cost of the skates and refunding your money for the holder swap which should have been free in the first place. They should be apologizing to you, not the other way around.
