If the boot is still in decent shape why not just have the liners fixed? I'm sure a decent shop could fix that, maybe add some wear pads to prevent it from happening again. Maybe @JR Boucicaut can chime in on wether or not the MSH pro shop can do the job.

Currently using Tydan and STEP ST steel. Yes, the Tydan steel is tall like LS and STEP. I can't say if they are the same height or not. The STEP had been sharpened a bunch when I got the Tydan. Strength wise, I find it behaves much like the STEP. On the down side. My Tydan moves front to back fairly easily in my holders, much more so than the STEP.

Great pic. Really shows just how defenseless Grzelcyk was. Also a good view of Sundqvists angle on the play. Definitely looks like he can pull up. Lets not get too caught up in head contact here. The call on the ice was boarding. The NHL department of player safety video also focuses on the boarding aspect of the play. https://www.nhl.com/video/sundqvist-suspended-one-game/t-277440360/c-68343803

Haha, very low indeed. I thought the same with McAvoy's hit on Anderson in game 6 of the BOS/CBJ series. That wasn't the case. Anderson didn't miss a shift and McAvoy, a first time offender, still got a game.
-
Past standards...what past standards. The NHL has been terrible when it comes to consistency. When Sundqvist goes in for the hit all he sees is numbers. Pretty cut and dry. I'm OK with one game.
-
No fines during the playoffs. Look, for consistency sake he has to get at least a game. The McAvoy hit on Anderson wasn't as bad and he got a game. Gryz left the rink, did not return and is not traveling with the team to St Louis. If you don't come down hard on Sundqvist you are opening the door for more of these types of hits. I'll say 2 games.

Is Going to smaller skate causing toe picks
stick9 replied to njobgen77's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Not so much a toe pick. It's more leaning forward on a surface that is no longer there, ie the shorter steel. So it's not the skate, it's you. Your body needs time to adjust to the new balance point. -
They finished second behind a TB team who tied the most wins in a single season with 62. Not sure what else qualifies a team as a front runner. But I admit, if you don't see them on a regular basis you might not know just how good of a season they had. Sort of like how I viewed Calgary.
-
Really? Boston finished tied for 2nd overall. The game had a rusty start. Both teams looked like they had been off too long. The Blues got it going earlier but once Boston found their legs it was game over.

In my experience the Tacks run a little short. I'm 5' 9", 163 lbs and the medium was about an inch or so too short even when extended. The pant fit great otherwise. I ended up in a Warrior medium. Which was a little longer, other aspects of the fit were the same. For her size, maybe a youth large??

Gotta work on those cankels. 😆

@Above40 what you describe in the fist part is definitely due to size/blade length and profile. I wouldn't be so quick to just jump back to a 9'. Try a combo. Get the agility of a 9 and the glide and stability from an 11. Plenty of great info here. If you haven't already, check out the ProSharp section.

I've only ever seen the in game coaches interviews during NBC games. The local Bruins broadcast talks with an assistant between the 2nd and 3rd periods. BTW, when are we going to get a SC thread? Id do it myself but I'm not allowed.

Steel: STEP ST 246mm Hollow: ¾ ROH About me: Skating in general has never really been an issue. I’ve always been able to get to where I need to be. I started skating a young and grew up on a lake, so plenty of ice time in the winter. There are some aspects of my skating that could be better. I have had issues with decreased agility and lack of overall stability in the past. Normally I rotate two sets of steel. The first set is stock Bauer LS4 profiled to a Quad 0 by Shayne from Pro Sharp, the second is stock STEP Edge. When I started this program I purchased a set of Tydan from the pro shop here at MSH. The stock STEP profile is my control set. Review: I’ve spent more time on this profile than any other, except maybe my control set. I’ve been using the Quad 0 since before this project began. I had been on my new skates for about six months. Coming from a larger skate with a bigger holder, I missed some that extra steel on the ice. Dropping down in size had a positive impact on mobility and acceleration but the shorter steel lacked the overall speed and stability I got with the longer steel. I ended up talking with JR about possible profiles. He put me in tough with Shayne from ProSharp (we live in the same town). When I tried the quad 0, every aspect felt better. Getting in and out of turns was easier, front to back transitions were easier, I felt more agile in tight spaces and overall straight line speed was increased. I demo’d some other profiles that day. Everything felt better than a stock profile yet nothing felt quite as good as the quad 0. The quad 0 is like a catch all. It does a lot of things really well and seems to appeal to a lot of different players. Mobility: 4 Stability: 3 Speed: 3 Acceleration: 4 Other profiles on deck: 9 | 50mm | 10.5

@Cavs019 just grab some lightweight Smartwool hiking or ski socks. Which area readily available at any REI or Sporting Goods store.

So when your team plays the Maple Leafs, you cool with the on ice official calling the office in Toronto? If I'm honest, I have a bit of a problem with that. Coaches challenges can't be penalized with a 2 minute penalty. If I am coaching, I never make that call because I dont want to put my team down a man. Taking away the teams TO and putting the faceoff in their defensive zone is more realistic. Honestly, if the refs were better at their jobs and took a less black and white (no pun intended) approach things would be better.
-
How about getting rid of video replay all together... Go to coaches challenges instead. I'm against anything that will slow the game down and video replay slows things down. The game survived for decades without it. Not sure why we suddenly need it and more of it.

And we're on to the finals. 😁

With two people.....its like 35 pounds.

Meh, I've used plenty of made in China Warriors that held up well. Probably more to do with what they are doing to reduce weight.

Yup...

Steel: Tydan Edge 246mm Hollow: ¾ ROH About me: Skating in general has never really been an issue. Review: I spent roughly 4+ hours on this profile. All of which was either mens league or pickup, no public skating this time around. Transitioning from my control steel to the quad 1 was fairly easy, no real adjustment period needed. My initial reaction was “this seems long” but it really didn’t play that way. I was able to get in and out of my turns with ease. Getting off the line and moving around in tight spaces was very fluid. The only time they actually felt longer was when I transitioned from forward to backwards. The larger (or longer) heel was somewhat noticable. Overall the added stability and top end speed was a nice add. Especially since I didn't have to sacrifice in other areas to get it. In comparison to the quad 0 I’ve been using. The quad 1 played a lot like the quad 0, just longer on the back side and the numbers bear that out. Quad 0 = 6’, 9’. 11’, 13’. The Quad 1 = 6’, 9’. 12’, 15’. Mobility: 4 Stability: 4 Speed: 4 Acceleration: 4 Other profiles on deck: 9 | 50mm | 10.5 Quad 0 I reserve the right to change/alter/modify my scores based on further testing

A) Yes, I would agree it's both lively and dead at the same time. B) The blade on the SL is nothing like that of the QX. The QX had amazing puck feel and was never overly lively. I can't speak for the QX Pro though I suspect it's more like the SL.

I thought the moves they made (and didn't make for that matter) we're pretty stupid. Though looking back now, maybe I was wrong. They had a good run, generated some buzz around the league and most importantly, put some fans in seats. I couldn't see them dealing Bob at the deadline. Move him and you're basically saying the season is over. I wanna see how it shakes out. If everyone bails. That nice little run won't mean jack.

And he's getting hammered for it. It was a dick move by a dick morning show host. Let's be careful not to perpetuate the problem. Back on topic. Carolina finally meets a team that's ready to play and willing to do what it takes to win a cup. Bruins in 5.
