  1. I'd keep him too, just not at that number. Not so much the injury concern. More so hitching yourself to a guy for top dollar who hasn't been able to get you past the conference finals. Which is massive since it's a freaking all-star team.
  2. So has Price, Lundqvist, Rinne & Bobrovsky. You know what else they all have in common? None of them have won a Stanley Cup. In fact, the last guy to win a Vezina and a SC in the same year was Tim Thomas back in 2011.
  3. That's about $100US each, yeah, that's a decent deal. Depending on where you get them from. A pro-stock stick usually runs anywhere from $100-160US.
  4. If the shop pooched the mount. They should be pick up the cost of shipping. They made the mistake not you.
  5. Good find. That line in the back is not a seam as some have suggested. Its what we call a parting line. You almost always end up with lines at points in which the tools come together. Some are dressed better than others.
  6. Much like Bob, a huge payday for a guy who's never won a thing. Terrible cap management by the Bolts, especially since he was under contract for another year.
  7. Don't block shots with your stomach. That's the goalies job. If people are slashing players in the stomach perhaps it's time to find a new place to play or a heavier stick...if you catch my drift. 😁
  8. Rip it in half. Put the straggley end towards the grip instead of the end, you'll never notice.
  9. That's why I said, last I checked, which was back when the holder was first released. At the time I could only find CCM replacement steel.
  10. Last I checked the only steel available for the XS holder was stock CCM steel. CCM has a history of making shitty steel. That said, I wouldn't move to the XS holder until STEP or Tydan started offering replacement steel. It did suck having to stick with Bauer steel for the Edge holder.
  11. I empty the tray and vacuum it out every few weeks. Depends on how much it gets used. My every few weeks might be someone else's weekly thing.
  12. Sounds like your son is better off than I was. My screws are pan heads and sit proud of the plate. They aren't so bad now. If he ends up needing new skates. The upper end models in the Ribcor line have the most comfortable ankle packs I have ever tried. I know that option is available on custom Jetspeeds and Tacks. Hopefully it doesn't get to that but worth mentioning.
  13. Yes, I have had that exact thing happen. The chip in the ring wasn't active. No hack, they replaced it.
  14. So I have screws and plates in my ankle as well. Last screw of the bunch is almost directly on the point on my ankle bone. When I started skating again there was some discomfort. I ended up having the ankle punched out a bit. Worked like a charm, no more pain or discomfort. I've had that done in every skate since except for my 1X. There was never a need so I didn't bother. I wouldn't plan for the worse just yet. See how it feels when he starts skating again. Maybe a punch is all he'll need. I tried the foam rings. They never stayed in place and they were hard to put on. Has the surgeon mentioned wether or not the hardware will be permanent or not? I still have mine but I know others who've had it removed once they were fully healed. They offered to remove mine but prefaced it with "well if it's not bothering you why risk going back in to remove it".
  15. I’ve rehabbed everything from bumps & bruises, to broken bones, to torn ligaments…including multiple injuries to my hands and wrists. Each time I successfully returned to the ice without issue. The key is putting in the work to strengthen the affected areas. My guess, you weren’t really ready to come back and you re-aggravated it by doing so. That most likely put you right back to square 1. Me, I usually test things out in a low risk setting like stick time or public skating. I start off light, pushing harder each time. If something doesn’t feel right, I am done. Remember, feeling good and ready to play hockey are two completely different things. I'd say, work on not just getting your strength back, but get stronger and don't come back until you are ready. If you continue to have issues, then it's time to dissect your kit.
  16. Grips, different length sticks, switching hands... Dude, you are way overthinking this.
  17. You need both blades profiled the exact same way. If not, you'll be chasing the issue forever.
  18. Yes, but those other brands are readily available at your LHS and have a bit of brand recognition. And its not like Base comes at a discounted price, $189 for a stick, $69 for a blade. Yikes!
  19. But you have to buy a Base stick or blade...
  20. Hence the name Synergy - the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects. I think I'd grab a halfway decent tapered shaft and a few different blades to start. But it sounds like we're past that point. The Sakic you remember is not the Sakic you see mentioned today (P92). It's deeper than the original and way more open. A real Sakic from back in the day is actually closer to a P88 than a P92, which most call it's clone.
  21. Like new, and I cannot stress that enough. It was only used it a few times in warmups. I bought it to try the P30 pattern. Measures roughly 64" toe to buttend. Asking $100 shipped within North America, Buttendz grip not included.
  22. If the holders & runners are equal size and the holders are mounted properly. The points on the profile should be the same. Sounds like your skate guy is over thinking it.
  23. I believe that's what's used in the 70k.
  24. I bet you'd end up seeing a good deal of Coffey curves in men's league, if it was offered. That was 'the curve' of the mid 80's. Anyone from ages 40 to 55 or so has used a Coffey at one point.
