  1. The Blues hitting game is finally taking its toll on them (The Blues). The Blues looked tight and the Bruins beat them to just about every puck.
  2. No, I did not. My overall goal is to get the max amount of blade contact without sacrificing mobility. Now had my mobility been crap, I might have tried something else. Plus I knew if it didn't work I could just go back to one of the quads.
  3. Let's for a second say Accari dove, which is just horse shit, but let's say he did. Why wasn't he called for embellishment? If the refs didn't want to disrupt the outcome, call both the trip and a dive. Either way you slice it, the refs blew it....or didn't blow it, the whistle that is.
  4. I've been the Glide 50 (9.5/50mm/10.5) for a few weeks and just did a review. I thought it played pretty well.
  5. Steel: STEP Edge 246mm Hollow: ¾ ROH About me: Skating in general has never really been an issue. I’ve always been able to get to where I need to be. I started skating a young and grew up on a lake, so plenty of ice time in the winter. There are some aspects of my skating that could be better. I have had issues with decreased agility and lack of overall stability in the past. Normally I rotate two sets of steel. The first set is stock Bauer LS4 profiled to a Quad 0 by Shayne from Pro Sharp, the second is stock STEP Edge. When I started this program I purchased a set of Tydan from the pro shop here at MSH. The stock STEP profile is my control set. Review: I had two different profiles come back at the same time, a Quad 1 and the 9.5/50mm/10.5, which I am reviewing here. Having spent a good deal of time on a Quad 0 I was really interested in trying the Quad 1 so that’s what I went with first. I was pretty much set with the Quad 1 but in fairness to the program I felt I needed to give the 9.5/50mm/10.5 a shot. Mobility on the quads is pretty much effortless. The Glide 50 required a bit more effort but an improvement over the stock 10’ profile on my control set. Getting up off the line was fairly easy. The Hudson V performed well in tight spaces. Tight turns and quick changes in direction were good. The big win was in the speed and stability. I felt as though I got more glide with this profile, which in turn led to an increase in overall top speed. When it comes to stability. I think I prefer this over any profile I have use to date. The Hudson V is like a Quad 1 and a Zuperior S had a child. The mobility and acceleration of the quad with the speed and stability of the Zup S. The trouble now is, which one. I am conflicted. Both the 9.5/50mm/10.5 and Quad 1 work really well for me. I’ll probably spend more time on these before making a final call. One thing to note here. With this profile (9.5/50mm/10.5) I feel like I could go with a deeper hollow. I don’t feel like I had the same amount of bite as I did with other profiles. Mobility: 3.5 Stability: 4.5 Speed: 4 Acceleration: 4 Final Ranking (First to worst) 1) Quad 1 / Hudson V 2) See above-mentioned 3) Quad 0 4) Stock 10' 5) 9'/10'
  6. Sounds like he's a go for tonight. I am a bit skeptical but this is the finals.
  7. Chara participated in today's optional skate. He and Grzelcyk are listed as game time decisions. Grzelcyk shed the non-contact jersey and was a full participant. In other news. NE Patriots WR Julian Eldeman was on the field today sporting a Bruins jersey.
  8. Most likely a blade mod. Usually everything after the initial build code are changes to the blade. Could be something new or specific to that player.

  10. You should be good. Go for it!
  11. As you read through the reviews in the ProSharp section you'll notice as users go longer they start losing agility and acceleration. That's where combos come in. You can have the longer flat without sacrificing in other areas. FWIW, I wouldn't start with a Zuperior or a Quad. I'd start with a simple double like a 10/20.
  12. If the boot is still in decent shape why not just have the liners fixed? I'm sure a decent shop could fix that, maybe add some wear pads to prevent it from happening again. Maybe @JR Boucicaut can chime in on wether or not the MSH pro shop can do the job.
  13. Currently using Tydan and STEP ST steel. Yes, the Tydan steel is tall like LS and STEP. I can't say if they are the same height or not. The STEP had been sharpened a bunch when I got the Tydan. Strength wise, I find it behaves much like the STEP. On the down side. My Tydan moves front to back fairly easily in my holders, much more so than the STEP.
  14. Great pic. Really shows just how defenseless Grzelcyk was. Also a good view of Sundqvists angle on the play. Definitely looks like he can pull up. Lets not get too caught up in head contact here. The call on the ice was boarding. The NHL department of player safety video also focuses on the boarding aspect of the play. https://www.nhl.com/video/sundqvist-suspended-one-game/t-277440360/c-68343803
  15. Haha, very low indeed. I thought the same with McAvoy's hit on Anderson in game 6 of the BOS/CBJ series. That wasn't the case. Anderson didn't miss a shift and McAvoy, a first time offender, still got a game.
  16. Past standards...what past standards. The NHL has been terrible when it comes to consistency. When Sundqvist goes in for the hit all he sees is numbers. Pretty cut and dry. I'm OK with one game.
  17. No fines during the playoffs. Look, for consistency sake he has to get at least a game. The McAvoy hit on Anderson wasn't as bad and he got a game. Gryz left the rink, did not return and is not traveling with the team to St Louis. If you don't come down hard on Sundqvist you are opening the door for more of these types of hits. I'll say 2 games.
  18. Not so much a toe pick. It's more leaning forward on a surface that is no longer there, ie the shorter steel. So it's not the skate, it's you. Your body needs time to adjust to the new balance point.
  19. They finished second behind a TB team who tied the most wins in a single season with 62. Not sure what else qualifies a team as a front runner. But I admit, if you don't see them on a regular basis you might not know just how good of a season they had. Sort of like how I viewed Calgary.
  20. Really? Boston finished tied for 2nd overall. The game had a rusty start. Both teams looked like they had been off too long. The Blues got it going earlier but once Boston found their legs it was game over.
  21. In my experience the Tacks run a little short. I'm 5' 9", 163 lbs and the medium was about an inch or so too short even when extended. The pant fit great otherwise. I ended up in a Warrior medium. Which was a little longer, other aspects of the fit were the same. For her size, maybe a youth large??
  22. Gotta work on those cankels. 😆
  23. @Above40 what you describe in the fist part is definitely due to size/blade length and profile. I wouldn't be so quick to just jump back to a 9'. Try a combo. Get the agility of a 9 and the glide and stability from an 11. Plenty of great info here. If you haven't already, check out the ProSharp section.
  24. I've only ever seen the in game coaches interviews during NBC games. The local Bruins broadcast talks with an assistant between the 2nd and 3rd periods. BTW, when are we going to get a SC thread? Id do it myself but I'm not allowed.

The stock STEP profile is my control set. Review: I’ve spent more time on this profile than any other, except maybe my control set. I’ve been using the Quad 0 since before this project began. I had been on my new skates for about six months. Coming from a larger skate with a bigger holder, I missed some that extra steel on the ice. Dropping down in size had a positive impact on mobility and acceleration but the shorter steel lacked the overall speed and stability I got with the longer steel. I ended up talking with JR about possible profiles. He put me in tough with Shayne from ProSharp (we live in the same town). When I tried the quad 0, every aspect felt better. Getting in and out of turns was easier, front to back transitions were easier, I felt more agile in tight spaces and overall straight line speed was increased. I demo’d some other profiles that day. Everything felt better than a stock profile yet nothing felt quite as good as the quad 0. The quad 0 is like a catch all. It does a lot of things really well and seems to appeal to a lot of different players. Mobility: 4 Stability: 3 Speed: 3 Acceleration: 4 Other profiles on deck: 9 | 50mm | 10.5
