  1. With the liberties Faksa was taking with Bergeron and such, no surprise Marchand got a little excited. No mention of the super "don't you know who I am" slash by Spezza that led to Clifton taking him down though.
  2. Sure, some division 3 hard guys might be like that but never anyone that got free schooling to play.
  3. I barely made it all the way thru the opening post of this thread.
  4. They are not. The SB pattern was designed to match Tuuk hole pattern.
  5. CCM is looking to get into the "quick release blade" arena.
  6. The first thing I do with any shin pads is cut the straps off. I use tape to keep them in place.
  7. Let's see if he goes for the trifecta in his first game back again.
  8. Boroweicki calls out Gallagher one day for dangerous hit then elbows a guy in the face in his next game. How much do glass houses sell for in Ottawa? He'll be talking to the discipline committee.
  9. One of the keys to winning is the money spent off the ice.
  10. People on their own pay exponentially higher premiums than people in a group where the risk is spread over a population. It would be considerably cheaper for the league to create a retired player plan than for each player to go it alone.
  11. You may want to track backward from where she might be thinking of attending D1. You could contact some of those schools and see what type of experience they are looking for and where they typically look (and would consider looking upon request) for potential candidates. That could give you ideas on options.
  12. I guess someone is trying to boost their post count. By the way, something like this would be in the "Gear Sightings" thread.
  13. I'm all for the Caps being unhappy with Marchand basically jumping Eller and wouldn't be surprised if Marchand's wallet gets a little lighter but comparing it to Wilson's latest indiscretion underscores the problems with teammates defending and/or rationalizing actions instead of condemning them. We will never remove head shots when teammates think like this. Oshie compared Marchand's actions to those which landed his teammate a 20-game suspension on Wednesday and said he trusts the league to "take care of business" with the Bruins forward. "[The NHL] set the standards, they want to get the dirty stuff out of the game," Oshie explained. "Which I think at least Tom's play was on the ice and he was hitting the guy that had the puck milliseconds before. And then you see tonight the sucker punches that Lars took in. So they kind of set the standard.
  14. It is his 4th forced vacation in about 14 months. The Caps might be regretting that long term deal they gave him this summer.
  15. No established player is going to fight in the preseason these days. Fighting is going the way of the dodo and a guy like Ekblad is just trying to get his game legs and not get hurt before the season starts. He isn't going to risk his hands or anything else in a meaningless preseason game. His demeanor was obvious and Domi decided to be a punk.
  16. Sounds like you need to find that sweet spot between loose and tight lacing. Have you tried waxed laces but not wrenching on them?
  17. Max Domi to have a hearing for a sucker punch on Aaron Ekblad. I wonder where he learned that one. https://www.tsn.ca/domi-to-have-hearing-with-player-safety-after-punching-ekblad-1.1176226 For some reason, this old commercial comes to mind............
  18. Considering that the owners take $1 billion off the top of the tv contract before anything starts getting shared, I think there is enough cash to cover the premiums.
  19. It isn't every single former player that has brain problems. The idea of insurance is spreading risk across an entire population and getting ahead of the problems so they don't become catastrophic and extremely expensive. How much would some of those former players that took their own lives have benefited from having a post career plan in place rather than being left on their own to figure it out?
  20. At the bare minimum these guys deserve health insurance coverage, especially knowing what we know now about brain injuries and the NFL.
  21. And this Sharks combination is better. Thornton must be thrilled. This gives him the best chance at a Cup that he ever had or will have.
  22. I believe that was sarcasm.
  23. They could possibly present options but I'm sure each team has final say in what gets used.
  24. I'm not sure there has ever been a more potent offensive combination on one blueline.
  25. I don't see them moving JFK or Bjork anytime soon.
