Learning hockey at 20 years past an advanced age

Some can be helped by where the pain is and some is trial and error. For example, if they pain is around the arch and outside edge of your foot then you could be tying too tight. If you're getting pain on the outside edge of your foot then you might be skating on too deep of a hollow, etc, etc....... You can do a google search on skates and foot pain to help diagnose potential problem areas. -

You shouldn't have feet ache past the first few sessions related to a new movement. Sure, anyone would get it the first time or two after a long layoff but it isn't something that takes your feet very long to adjust to. -

Aching feet during and after skating has less to do with strength/endurance and more to do with skating posture, skate fit, lace tightness, profile and hollow. -

Welcome to my every Thursday. The real downside is that one of our players has another/better goalie who wants to play with us but the league said no. Our current goalie thinks he is too good for the next level under us and the league won't let us dump him, even though goalies don't pay.

Once you played the puck back into the zone there was no reason to hold that space. You got the penalty for not trying to avoid the contact. It was a de facto check.

Loosening up in a blowout is usually giving a little leniency to the losing team on the odd hook or the like. Letting a high stick go isn't loosening up, it is inviting a shitshow.

VH Footwear/TRUE by Scott Van Horne
chippa13 replied to dsjunior1388's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
It was funny listening to Gretzky talk this morning. He said in his playing days he wore skates that were too small in which he could barely walk but was able to skate well in. Now he has skates that are very comfortable but he can't skate anymore. -
Just like almost any other piece of equipment, there are great skaters who can skate on anything and there are great skaters who need everything an exact certain way otherwise they can feel it and notice the difference. I have no idea which camp McDavid falls into with his skates and really don't care.

Weird, I don't know of a place around here that has a "regular" any deeper than 1/2". A 3/8 has always been considered "deep" in these parts.

That's a rough couple weeks but as a song lyric reminds me, "wise man said the only way out is through". Hang in there.
