  1. Are the pressure points on the actual boot or only around the tongue area like you described. If tongue, then you're probably lacing too tight. Or like u said move the tongue around.
  2. Love ccm sticks and gear now. Used to be a Bauer homer too but ccm is stepping up big time. I own the trigger 4 and ft3 pro. When I used the trigger 4 pro it was by far the best stick I've had. Then I got the ft3 pro.... The ft3 pro is obviously a different kick point but overall I prefer the ft3 pro just slightly. I just feel it loads in a way my shots are more accurate without sacrificing that much pop/kick. The trigger has insane pop/kick though but I'm less accurate because of it. If your son is used to low kick aka the flylight, you can't go wrong with hr trigger. Imo though, get the trigger 4. I hear it's not a tonne of diff than the trigger 5 except weight and they will be marked down. I never thought I'd stray away from low kick sticks, specifically, the trigger, but the ft3 pro changed my mind 🤪
  3. You didn't feel the pressure points in the store as they cooled? You didn't try them on inside at all after?
  4. I stand corrected. Forgot sf sizing were letters.
  5. U should've went for d but one size up in length and cut those.
  6. I've stopped even entertaining the idea of buying from base hockey. I've owned four sticks from when they first started out. At the time they were by far the most durable stick out there, and for 150ish bucks cdn, they were a steal, and performed very well. But now there's a lot more competition like no name, chs, etc. Base does have unique curves etc, but for me, I use a p28 70-75 flex. Nothing fancy.
  7. These splash guards are as useless. You really think hard breathing isn't going to go around the guard etc. If you're going to play hockey you should be inheriting the increased risk of contacting covid. You're not going to protect yourself more with this. The only thing, imo, that would decrease the risk is straight up wearing a mask, like CCMs.

  9. I think if you got try customs you can request a higher cut. You should see if this is an option as I know I've read them doing a lower cut boot and also reduced facing for less wrap.
  10. I returned the medium and cancelled the order on the small and ended up with traditional pants. I ended up getting the ft1 pants in medium. They are pretty snug and fit more like a larger small. The medium ft1 pants fit snugger in the right places vs the girdle. Girdle felt kind of of sloppy for me in a medium. And the shell actually restricted movement for me. But to each their own.
  11. It's a completely diff feel. And personal preference. I for one will never wear another skate, unless true changes their skate so much it's a diff fit years from now. I went from Bauer supremes for years with no issues except a small hot spot when walking to and from the change room. I tried trues and it was incredible. I then tried the as1 which was the worst break in period I've ever had. Once that was over though the skate felt fine but I had to be careful not to tie them up too tight or it gave me lacebite which I never had before. Taking passes off the as1 hurt like hell, I couldn't imagine taking shots off the boot. I took a hard slapper on my trues and although it did hurt and left a bruise, I didn't miss the shift. Went back to trues and am staying loyal. I tried on some vapors just to walk around earlier this year and I didn't like the fit and lack of comfort. Again that's just me. It's all preference. If you have no issues at all with what you're using right now, there's no point changing other than being curious or being a gear whore like some or maybe most of us on this forum are 🤪
  12. To me it kind of does. With your experience in the previous pics I would expect the true 7r and Bauer 8ee to be the same in length. Maybe it's a quality control thing more than anything with mislabeled sizes? Did u match the size inside the boot with the tongue.
  13. Wonder why that is... Esp since the tries actually look smaller
  14. Looks like I'll be sticking with customs. Lol.
  15. That's looks about right doesnt it? The bauer being a size larger, and the bauer looks like it is larger.
  16. Esp now days with foams being thicker which in term result in more packing and more of a size discrepancy once that happens. I know the Trues have noticeably more foam in the heel area vs ccm and Bauer. That might contribute as to why the external length of the skate is longer than ccm or Bauer but internally are closer to the true size? Either way it sucks for ppp who can't try the skates on in store bc this obviously is an issue for people when trying to find the right size in these skates and can only purchase online.
  17. Try bringing it elsewhere... It is possible that they are ignoring your request lol. Look at the hollow and see if they burned the steel. Is the sharpener new? Lots of factors but at 7/16 you shouldn't be sliding around like that at all lol
  18. When I switched to trues I noticed a big difference in how I could feel the ice so much better on the bottom of my feet. I felt every bump on the ice. Made me way more aware of my edges
  19. After your asking for a specific hollow?
  20. Skates are one thing where if it don't break why fix it. Skates are the biggest pita to break in even with customs. Now try introducing a completely diff boot construction to nhl players who notice the smallest things in terms of difference. Even pro gloves are no where near retail ones and are very very basic in terms of materials and design.
  21. I'm not sure if it's sewn on separately or whether if you remove the stitching of the overlay, it'll dismantle part of the palm. I'm sure others would know. I'm not a fan of some overlays as well. Esp ones they aren't clarino or the same material as the rest of the palm.
  22. That's pretty unfortunate... Takes away how s skate is custom ..
  23. For starters , he should wear his orthotics in his shoes.... But the end goal would be to fix his supination and ultimately not have to use the orthotics.
  24. Ya it's probably like this at all levels in different sports too. The mentality of If it isn't broken don't fix it. But like you said w pro level, maybe mention the idea and let him decide whether he wants to play with the idea during off season training etc. If you think about it, the pronation or supination could be caused by years of hockey in I'll fitting boots or their skating form vs the player having this outside of hockey and then adapting to it when skating. At some point, biomechanic testing etc will be so common every player will be accustomed to a full analysis etc. I'm sure it happens now but just not as mainstream... and not at such a early age for players in their teens.
