Ha, I am pretty sure my buddy played in this league when he was living out in Cali, he said it was one of the main reasons he wanted to move back east. That's just too bad, whats the point if you know that team is going to smoke you, not fun. Sorry dude.

As an older gent like yourself but many many moons removed from weighing 150 lbs I can suggest we used Windex way back in my day to 'add grip'. I'll be honest its been a while and I don't remember if it actually worked or not but maybe give it a shot over a replacement set of wheels for $90? Would also have to ask what wheels do you use, brand wise? What type of surface, etc.? Its been a while since I was on wheels but when I used to play I would try every wheel there was and I would always end up back with Labeda Addictions.

I think that color tab thing is dumb and distracting, but otherwise looks like your typical Mission inline skate. If anything I wish they paid more attention to gloves and came up with something that wasn't a 'stock' vapor glove with an embroidered logo. For my money, even in their failures, Mission before the Bauer acquisition was always pushing the glove design and for the most part came up with some neat gloves that fit well and looked great. There were some duds for sure, but at least they were trying. I'd really like to see Bauer let Mission go back to designing gloves but I get the whole cannibalizing their own product line and realize it won't happen.

Just saw it on Instagram, True skates with a Revision chassis and wheels. Also saw True as a new sponsor for Narch. Good to see them getting involved in roller.

I’m gonna go with yes there are a good number of these cases. I know of probably a dozen or so people who have gotten lucky because someone ponied up the cash for true/VH skates only to end up selling them for whatever reasons and most times at a pretty big loss. And I’ll add as someone who has gotten a pair secondhand that they fit and perform amazingly even if not made specifically for you. No issues, bake em, lace em up and go skate never had any problems. Call it luck I guess or perhaps there’s a chance the product is that good and you can dial in a fit even if its in the ballpark of your foot. -
Ha didn’t even see that. Also thought it was a little bit better than the ‘if ya smell what the qrl is cookin’

Congrats! Recovery road can be tough, beat advice I can give is listen to your docs/surgeons, don’t push it, listen to your body, and do not ready anything on the internet about your surgery ha! if PT is in the cards try to find a good one who understands what your goals are post recovery and work your ass off getting as close to 100% as possible.

The logo or whatever up by the ankle placement remind me of the Mission fuel line of skates

Best area for hockey vacation?
the_game replied to Amazinmets73's topic in General Hockey Discussions
If you can afford to go on a 2 month vacation I am curious as to why any location would be cost prohibitive ha. -
I'm almost 2 years removed from having Cervical Spine surgery. Had ACDF, Anterior Cervical Discectomy & Fusion on my C3-C4, C4-C5, C5-C6, 3 levels of having my discs removed, spacers put in and a titanium plate put in place to solidify everything up. Now I call "recovery" the time it took from surgery until I could start getting again which was about 6'ish months and now I'm back skating 2-3 times a week. For real life recovery, I was back to work in a little under a week (office job but I was able to work from home), couldn't lift anything more than 15 lbs for a while and had driving restrictions as well for about 2 months'ish and then did about 3 months of PT 2 times a week. The worst part about any of this was the catheter getting taken out after surgery. Also I lost some movement in my neck in how far I can turn my head which I am totally fine with because I have an excuse when I don't pass on the ice. I was scared out of my mind going into surgery but at the same time I had spinal cord compression from a calcified disc that if I got in an accident or fell wrong, well lets just say it would not have ended well, so I didn't have a choice really. I woke up from surgery and all the symptoms and pain were all gone, except for the catheter that's awful, I was up walking the next day I just had a nice scar on my neck. I know its not the same surgery but its fairly close and I'll bet it will probably be the best decision you make and I don't doubt given some time and recovery you'll be back on skates. Another side note with this, I have a partially torn labrum and my hip would kill every know and then, saw an ortho who said surgery but I said it wasn't that bad yet. This was before the ACDF neck surgery, but yea I get that surgery wake up and I can feel a difference in my gait when I'm walking and even skating and my hip hasn't bothered me since. Feel free to PM me with any questions if you'd like @caveman27

I guess I'm old enough now to play the 'back in my day' card and explain to these whippersnappers what a heavy skate really is. Not to mention if my dad spent a grand on skates and I whined to him that they were too heavy, he would've duct taped 20lbs weight to my ankles everyday and told me to get stronger to get used to the weight. I've been around this game long enough and worn enough pairs of skates that given a choice I'm taking a pair of True/VH over every pair I've ever worn. Not only for the comfort/fit factor but because I actually think the fit of the skate will put you in the proper position and make you a better skater. OK maybe not a better skater, you're not gonna go from beer leaguer to McDavid, but maybe a better way to describe it is skating will feel more natural. Count me in and call me a Kool-Aid drinker but as far as I'm concerned I won't use another skate. -
The concept sound like the Mission ViBE inline chassis version of an ice holder. Also curious about the Marsblade 'adjustments' they are going to make and if there are any options for the user to tinker with like the Mission Pitch holder.

Congrats to ccm on winning the best looking skate award.

I had thought the graphics on this skate looked similar to the One95 if you swapped out blue for silver and just made the heel and ankle area a little bit larger. That being said the toe cap does look more tapered but its tough from the photos and the way he wears his shins to see if there is a mid-boot wrap similar to the mako or even True/VH.
-
They need to wear that against Vancouver as well.

Looks like a practice jersey to me.

Poor guy having to hang em up because of all his injuries. I know he had similar neck issues around the same time I had mine so I've kept tabs on his recovery, unfortunately now the lack thereof recovery. Hope at least he can heal up enough to not stop him from living a normal life.

Those are the kings gloves going forward. also saw that Lou brought his trademark small logo on the side of pants to the isles.

Yup, low end chassis is the dead giveaway

If you hop in the ol' way back machine and take a look at the gloves the Devils wore with these jerseys the cuff roll was white with black lettering. I just think the white cuff roll looks better and the green cuff roll is too 'christmasy' ha. As to why the Devils used black lettering on the cuff role there is probably some ol' Lou Lamoriello folklore with the reasoning behind that. Or it could be that was just the norm back then, look at the Rangers, Whalers, Blues, Flames, teams that used white cuff rolls the manufacturer name was in black font in the 80's and early 90's. I even remember some Sabres gloves with yellow cuff rolls from back then had the manufacturer name in black font. Manufacturers back then could probably only do white or black branding on the materials they used or maybe it was cheaper? I am sure Junkyard could probably answer this question. I was just a kid back in those days and that's when I got obsessed with gear, so for me when I see some of these throwback/retro jerseys I pray they bring back the old glove color ways from 90's. The one color gloves so many teams use today are just so damn boring.

Only gripe with New Jersey is the gloves, that cuff roll needs to be white with black lettering for the company. Other than that, love that set up.

Those Luxe are gorgeous, everything else is meh.
