  1. I had the Daoust 555 'Gold' skates, I was a big fan of those.
  2. Ferland 3400 & 3300 were my favs. Especially the 3400 with the digi overlay on the palms.
  3. Max Von Sydow And if you don't know who that is go watch Strange Brew, you hoser!
  4. I have a ton of Bauer Tapered replacement blades and decent stock of tapered Easton's & Bauer shafts but I always felt like those companies never did anything to improve the tech in their shaft options. Was hoping to try a True Tapered shaft as I figured if anyone was to actually the design for a two piece it would be True.
  5. Great news! When I went 6 or so months after surgery to skate it was so awesome just to be on the ice again and then absolutely humbling realizing how out of shape you are, ha!
  6. Who brought their kid to play net in a mens league game? That goalie is barely taller than the crossbar!
  7. Not sure what exactly you had done, but after my Cervical Spine surgery they had me up & walking around a ton the day after. Def don't overdo it, but I think you might be surprised when they come in and try to get to move around.
  8. Waking up after my neck surgery, that was the first thing I noticed that I didn’t have that constant nagging pain through my body. Glad to hear you’re already feeling better!
  9. Probably a good time to merge these threads. Click here for a post I made in August with a pic of the chassis.
  10. If you check out John Schiavo's Instagram you can see a sneak preview of the new frames.
  11. Is it just me or does the rear tower on the new holder look huge?
  12. Jan-Michael Vincent, I know you're gonna say 'Who?' but if you were a kid from the 80's he was the dude from Airwolf.
  13. Such a bummer and just when I needed a new one.
  14. Sawwwwwwft! I walked to school up hill, both ways, in 6 feet of snow...ok it wasn’t uphill but we never had school cancelled because it was cold or because there was a dusting of snow.
  15. Ha, I am pretty sure my buddy played in this league when he was living out in Cali, he said it was one of the main reasons he wanted to move back east. That's just too bad, whats the point if you know that team is going to smoke you, not fun. Sorry dude.
  16. I’m gonna go with yes there are a good number of these cases. I know of probably a dozen or so people who have gotten lucky because someone ponied up the cash for true/VH skates only to end up selling them for whatever reasons and most times at a pretty big loss. And I’ll add as someone who has gotten a pair secondhand that they fit and perform amazingly even if not made specifically for you. No issues, bake em, lace em up and go skate never had any problems. Call it luck I guess or perhaps there’s a chance the product is that good and you can dial in a fit even if its in the ballpark of your foot.
  17. Gene Mean's son was a hockey player, Todd played for the US in the 88 Olympics. Have to call him Gene Mean to connect to another hockey guy, Chris Jericho.
  18. If you can afford to go on a 2 month vacation I am curious as to why any location would be cost prohibitive ha.
  19. I guess I'm old enough now to play the 'back in my day' card and explain to these whippersnappers what a heavy skate really is. Not to mention if my dad spent a grand on skates and I whined to him that they were too heavy, he would've duct taped 20lbs weight to my ankles everyday and told me to get stronger to get used to the weight. I've been around this game long enough and worn enough pairs of skates that given a choice I'm taking a pair of True/VH over every pair I've ever worn. Not only for the comfort/fit factor but because I actually think the fit of the skate will put you in the proper position and make you a better skater. OK maybe not a better skater, you're not gonna go from beer leaguer to McDavid, but maybe a better way to describe it is skating will feel more natural. Count me in and call me a Kool-Aid drinker but as far as I'm concerned I won't use another skate.
