Best bands that you're not listening to.

Still can't get enough of the Gaslight Anthem. They have a new album coming out, they are heavily influenced by Bruce Springsteen and they are great. The newest song called American Slang is a really good song.

The original emo bands, 20 years before it became associated with makeup and wrist-cuts

I love the get up kids, a band who I consider one of the pioneers of the genre.

Anyways, in a totally different vein. Mumford and Sons album Sigh No More has been my jam for the last month or so.

they were formed in '95, not really pioneers, unless you mean Midwest emo pioneers ahah, then again SDRE is older.

I consider these guys one of the first emo bands. Gotta love Rocky George.

Not even remotely emo, anyway you're probably just being sarcastic

A lot of the singles leaking out from Big Boi's new album are pretty strong. I think it's gonna be a good one; drops on July 7th I think.

Primus anyone? Really out there on a musical standpoint from the "norm" but, god damn do I love just about anything Les Claypool plays on. Being a bass player myself I have always been a fan of his style of play. I'd do anything to even have a quarter of his talent on bass.

DMV - Primus

Scale The Summit, herd them at Prog Nation last year with Dream Theater. Instrumental tech prog is about as good as I can describe them. 8 and 7 string guitars with a 6 string bass. Really solid sound and they should be getting much more recognition than they are.

I'm a pretty huge Primus fan, especially of the albums Frizzle Fry and Sailing the Seas of Cheese. Amazing band overall and Tim Alexander's drumming in particular is so incredible. Awesome seeing his influence really show over the past 5 or so years

Saw them last spring, nothing groundbreaking but a good show nevertheless.
