How does Kraken not pay homage to the Pacific Northwest? A mythical sea creature originating from Scandinavian folklore sounds like a perfect choice to me. It embraces the fishing industry of Seattle and the high proportion of people of Scandinavian descent who work in said industry.

I think the TF7 would be fine and he would likely outgrow the skate before it broke down. What skates is he wearing currnetly? I think it depends on his size, weight, skating style and such. I tend to recommend softer boots for younger players as they are still growing and also working on improving their skills. A boot that is too stiff can sometimes cause issues with player development specifically in regards to skating.

You make a good point. At 12 and 77lbs the slightly softer boot might be better. If he was an older and heavier teen then it'd be different.

I agree that the TF7s would probably be sufficient. From 12-16 ish is the age that feet grow like wild and i doubt he will break down the TF7s by the time he outgrows them

If you fit in D width Makos comfortably then there would be no benefit in going to EE. You want your skates to be as tight as possible without pain. If you went wider you could end up with unnecessary negative space, losing energy transfer and possibly having heel lift. If the D's were painfully narrow somewhere after baking, like they were for me, then you would want to go to EE.

If you read through the whole thread you will see that some people go down a half size, some go up a half size and the majority use the same size Mako vs. Bauer or CCM. Nothing will replicate trying them on and baking them. We can only relay our personal experiences. I wear an 8EE Mako and baked an 8D to see if it would expand enough for my forefoot. The 8D was still too tight in the forefoot after baking (it was fine in the mid-foot and heel). I tried on an 8EE Supertacks (did not bake them) and they were too tight in the forefoot and my toes weren't brushing the cap like they do in Makos (the heel was locked and I measure an 8 on the CCM Brannock though. It felt like they were just a touch longer than Makos though). I demoed Supremes back in the TotalOne days and 7.5EE fit lengthwise, but I had a bit of heel lift. I haven't tried new Supremes. Based on my experiences, I think someone who takes a D width Supertacks would want a D width Mako. The only D width skate that would translate into a EE Mako would be a Nexus (which has more than enough room in the forefoot for me, but is sloppy in the heel). As for length, if your feet are right up against the cap in Supertacks, then going up a half size in Makos probably makes sense, but if you're a bit off the cap in Supertacks, stick with the same size.

P28s and PM9s are often quite different in lie. P28’s quite a bit higher. They both say lie 5, but that’s an extremely sloppy measure. I searched again after posting. I haven’t really looked at sticks in the post-COVID19 months. Maybe their stocking has dried up due to the slowdown. Due to the prevalence of lefties, there are naturally fewer right handled sticks to choose from on PSH. But PM9 has been in such low demand they can sell for really cheap on eBay and other online marketplaces. @chippa13‘s right here. Have you considered Base? They make good sticks for the money. They’re not for you if you want the latest marketing tricks, but they make solid sticks and you have the options to get what you want. Too bad you’re a righty because they have the Darby for lefties. It’s a great blade if you like the PM9, but are wishing for a little more fun: very close in lie but more rockered. More curve and more of a mid curve amd more open but still delightfully mild. It’s actually very close to Kovalev’s Pro pattern—you have lie for almost any distance close in your feet or far from your body—mixed with Lemieux’s curve. It’s even harder to find than the PM9, unfortunately, as it’s only ever had flashes in the pan at retail.

PP28 is more open than PM09. If you don't like open curve, then you wouldn't like PP28.

Sherwood does do customs, as does True and CCM. p88 and alternatives are still readily available on all top of the line sticks at retail. Most likely your best option.

The team released the home jersey. Whether that’s a placeholder or not, that I’m not sure of.

There’s usually a lot of that pattern available on Prostockhockey. What specs do you prefer, hand, flex, shaft shape? It’s good to narrow down your final selection by asking them about the actual make of the sticks as it can differ from what they’re dressed as.

I have the 100 Flex RX3 stick, And i would have to say, yes it feels whippier then other brands 100 flex. I actually prefer it. On the not trusty Australian feel o meter - id say its equiv to most brands 90-95 flex. Which is actually perfect for me, as i find 85 flex in any brand like pool noodles. Other gear i have is their RX3 Elbow pads - i really like them with the sleeve they have. I also have some surgeon gloves (older model) which are really snug, but comfortable as sin.

True MC2 was only available for a short time and even then only on some SMU sticks. It’s been like 4-5 years since they were being sold. (RIP A5.2Pro, excellent stick) W01 seems like the clone that’s easiest to find, but only on their top 2 tiers. The kids like the wild toe curves these days. We dinosaurs gotta adapt or fade away or complain about it on the internet. I’m obviously opting for #3.

Not to be argumentative, but I've been in Makos since they came out. I went from Supreme 7/7.5 to 6.5 in Mako. So, I don't think it's generaizable that you should move up in size in Makos. Maybe in CCM, I don't know about them though. Just wanted to make sure the OP didn't think he should just move up a size without investigating further. Sorry if I confuse the issue though. As far as the width goes, my feet are like sausages in my D widths, but because they're so moldable, they're still comfy. If I put on a Supreme D width, I'm friggin miserable. The width is very forgiving in the Makos.

There are two templates out there right now. One from the Icethetics site site and the other from Chris Creamers site. So how long 'til a real jersey surfaces?

How do you know the Kraken isn’t real? The lack of proportion of the hem is weird, I agree, but the colors are on, gloves should look cool.

Yeah, Murray got lit up in a session with a stacked team against him, tonight it looked more balanced and the score was also closer.

I think it was a great execution. The use of negative space for the tentacle is a great touch, and with the right embroidery the crest would pop on the jersey. Not a fan of the thin hem stripe which looks wavy due to the shape of the hem.

Just skated last night. We had to get dressed and undressed outside. No bags allowed inside. You sign a contact tracing waiver, they take your temp, and you're assigned a seat where you can put your skates, helmet, and gloves on. Have to wear a mask until you go on the ice. Once we were on the ice, no problem or worries. Managed to get beaned by a slapshot my first shift. Had to go for an x-ray this morning, thankfully no fracture, but I have a huuuuuuuuge welt on my arm. I was expecting to be more tired and out of shape.

I'm leaning towards the Leafs because I think younger legs will handle the layoff better. This and the CGY-WPG series are the two I'm really looking forward to.

Well, your opinion is wrong too then haha. And by the way, Seagrams is a quality item! As a former native, what name would you want instead?
